Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I tear down and re assemble the steering column in my 84 corvette! It is quite the task and it is now brand new! I cant wait to get out on the road and put it to the test!

    Glad you had a success on rebuilding your steering column I’ve done a couple when I did my wife’s 67 mustang I purchased a used 69 column and used parts from one to put in the other 67 had a solid rod that was attached to the steering box non-collapsible a sure way to die in a head on collision! 👍🏻as always great work too 👌

    It's coming together fast now. It will not be long before it is on the road. You may lose it to your wife though 😆. I can just see her pulling up on the teenagers in town hitting the airbags and rolling down the window 😆. Keep up the great work and content. It's always great when the wife approves of a build and helps out.

    Tip for entering and exiting: butt first then swing legs in, reverse for out. Just sit and rotate, that way you save your column and your A-pillar paint.

    just what i needed, thank you Sir! the gentleman i purchased my C4 from was rather... large... quite a bit of slop in my steering column 😅going to need to replace those pins for sure. Steering wheel is definitely NOT an egress assist!! that is what i use that giant door sill for (gotta be good for something!) Where did you wind up getting your column pieces from? p.s. thanks Ms. Emily, i needed a good laugh! that Panda head was epic!! 🤣🤣

  • @RustedandBusted

    Yes! 💪 Glad this will help!! You can find all of the parts you need from Corvette Central they sell all the pieces individually and even the aluminum plate the pins go in to if that is worn. I think the more that I look at it, the pins themselves may not wear as they are steel, rather it is the column itself that may oval the holes instead. Youll have a better Idea when you take it apart of course 😉 HAHA she is awesome for sure ❤

    I would like to by a shop manual like the one you used to rebuild your steering column. Could you send me the info of where you purchased the manual. Thanks.

    Absolutely! I bought mine on the www.rockauto.com website. Search your specific year and you can drill down the options to purchase both the factory service manual and the electrical diagrams. For the price it was well worth it

    At 19:24-27 i wanna know how you got the rod down in the shaft to go down and lock i tried re installing mine and it broke on me.

  • @RustedandBusted

    @RustedandBusted

    How did it break?! 😳 that's a thick rod!! It really just slipped in if I remember correctly. I believe it is also pressure locking, so that lever that moves to lock the wheel in place from sliding needs to be in the loose position, and that rod should slide right in without trouble. Hopefully you can get a new one!

  • @anthonymcqueen8306

    @@RustedandBusted thanks for replying it was actually the wedge that broke but it was my fault. I actually bought a whole column today from a buddy just for that part but now I have extras if I need them. I was thinking the rod had to go past the wedge to lock into place. Today I learned the c clip is what actually keeps it from sliding out. Now all I need is a horn retainer and I can finish getting it back together. Luckily those are available unlike the locking wedge.
