DIY Garage Pergola
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hi you guys!
I'm back with a Garage Pergola DIY for you! Spring & Summer are my favorite months, mostly because the sun is out more an my plants thrive!
I've wanted a pergola for my garage since I moved in. I envisioned white jasmine, in full bloom, just covering it and smelling absolutely amazing! So, fast forward two and a half years & I made one!
The first step was getting HOA approval & then determining what style I wanted to go with. My HOA charges for an Architectural Review.. which is rather annoying. That fee cost half of what the total project cost was for me. No wonder my neighborhood doesn't have a lot of people making any changes to their homes, it cost an arm an a leg just to do it....
After getting HOA approval I began the trip to my local hardware store. Below is my list of materials & the cut list for y'all! If I forgot anything make sure to drop it in the comments & ill try to respond!

Thank you!!
Using many of your ideas I built my pergola very similar to yours. Couldn't make up my mind between 2x4 or 2x6, so I ripped an inch off 2x6s. It looks great, thank you for your response and video.

Why don't you just say girlfriend? Sounds better.
You need thousands of likes for this!! It's absolutely beautiful. I just built a craftsman style house and my garage is screaming for a pergola. So I go online to check prices and just about fell out of my chair- sticker shock!! I'm talking 6000-9000 dollars not including install. Did I mention I just built a house (I really need to save some cash)? I'm pretty handy and this is exactly what I'm going to do. I hate drilling in my new home but what the heck. I like how you attached it to the white trim around the garage door too. My siding is a medium gray with a wedgewood blue undertone and I want to avoid that area and attach it to the white trim just like you did. White trim is way easier to replace in case I have a mishap. You answered all of my questions and I'm very appreciative :) Just subscribed.

You are too sweet! Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for this comment, put a big ole smile on my face! I had the same shock when I looked into pergolas as well.. crazy! So of course I had to try making it myself haha. I am also very happy to hear that this video was helpful for you! Have fun with your build!!

The job looks fantastic!! Do you think I could use 2x6 on top? Think the brackets would hold the boards? You know twice as much as most men, kudos!

I think you definitely could! It all depends on what aesthetic you’re looking for. And I do my best 🫡

@@justawoodworkher nice! Are you gonna train it to grow over the pergola?
Hi great work! Can you tell me how that paint has held up? I’ve read that you need to let pressure-treated wood dry before painting it…
@justawoodworkher
Жыл бұрын
You definitely should! I let mine dry out pretty well before actually painting it. Where there are knotty parts on the wood there is a darker rim around them coming through the paint, possibly still retaining some water, aside from that the paint looks great still!

@@justawoodworkher yeah that might be the sap bleeding thru from what I’ve read. I’m making mine soon!

I might think about purchasing the wood 30 days ahead, and put it in the garage, spread out, to dry.
I love the pergola. How much would you charge to make this for my garage?
@justawoodworkher
Жыл бұрын
I cannot say, I am not a pro. I paid around $300 for all the materials.
Great video! Go girl! I am doing something similar right now and looking to design/build my own brackets (who can afford those pre-made ones?!) I sure wish you had a template for the bracket. Your design proportions were perfect. It seemed like you just winged it with the lampshade though! Lol

Thank you so much! I did just wing it haha! It makes it more fun as long as you have the design style in mind to start 🙌🏻 good luck & I hope you have a blast building yours!
Can you show more of the shirtless guy next time .. good lawwd
