    hey there! im an artisan keycap maker and from my experience, curing clear resin (your second step - filling up the bottom) only require a very short amount of time (until its not tacky), or else it could shrink and lead to leakage to the front! save the long curing to the very last!

    I want to make resin keycaps too! You did a great job on them :) I've heard of UV resin spacebar warping as they cure though. Any tips and advice? It'll be my first time using UV resin. Also, how long did you cure them for total?

  • @SerendipityChannel91

    @SerendipityChannel91

    Thank you! Yes, UV resin does warp as it cures; it's mostly to do with the heat from the lamp paired with the silicone. I'm still trying to figure out myself how to make it so that the mold stays still during the curing process.

    Stumbled on your channel recently, and was wondering what would happen if you use EPOXY resin, instead of UV Resin for this? Will it destroy or mess up the Epoxy resin when exposed to UV Light?

  • @SerendipityChannel91

    @SerendipityChannel91

    2 жыл бұрын

    Putting epoxy resin under UV light actually would make it yellow :( Also, the resin won’t react the way UV resin does. You could still use epoxy resin if you want to, it’s just gonna take longer to cure.

  • @EzlNh8u
    @EzlNh8u2 жыл бұрын

    I purchased everything you have in this video. And followed each step, but am noticing when I pull them out from the mold, the back comes off and the middle is still a bit wet. I tried a second.time with more.time under the UV light and same result, still wet when I pull out from the mold. Maybe I used.to many color drops in my. Mix?

  • @SerendipityChannel91

    @SerendipityChannel91

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, if you add too many color drops, it can get soft. Also, if you use darker colors, it takes a bit longer to fully cure since it’s harder for the UV light to pass all the way through and solidify right away. I’d suggest starting off by using less pigment and see how that goes :) Good luck and let me know if that works!

  • @colinhendry6116
    @colinhendry61163 жыл бұрын

    That seemed so easy! And question, is it possible to put varying colors after each layer the resin is set, or would putting too many varying shades create a muddled color? I'm wondering if there could be a well-defined color gradient by using this fast setting UV resin and some patience, and if so I know what I'm getting myself this xmas lol

  • @SerendipityChannel91

    @SerendipityChannel91

    3 жыл бұрын

    I haven't tried that method myself but that sounds cool! I might have to give that a go and see how it turns out :D I think because it's easier to set and cure it with a UV light, you can get a more defined gradient.

    Hi! Did you use UV resin like I did, or did you use epoxy resin? Epoxy resin usually takes about 72 hours to cure if that's what you used. On the other hand, UV resin should cure much faster especially in sunlight. Also using a lot of pigment could affect how long it takes to cure. Hope that helps! :)
