DIY FAUX SHIPLAP (FOR CHEAP!)

Фильм және анимация

If you've ever seen the show Fixer Upper, you are probably familiar with the term "shiplap." It's becoming a really popular way to spruce up walls in houses, and today I'm going to show you how to do it for super cheap! Let me know if you try it out, and if there're any questions I can answer :)

What did you mean by you hadn't painted the cracks yet ?? How do you plan on doing that?? Also what size screws did you use ? Have you tried hanging anything on the wall yet....I am curious that if you wanted to hang something do you need to make sure you screw all the way through the plywood into the wall to secure... like a floating shelf or picture? Sorry I know thats a million questions. I am wanting to do this myself but want to make sure I do it right. When you were done did add trim to the bottom?

Hi Amanda! No problem. So I should have painted the wall first maybe, but instead, after we put the wood up, there are little cracks of white showing where we purposely left spaces between planks. So I just took a small paintbrush and handpainted in between those small spaces. Does that make sense? The brand of paint is Valspar. Its supposed to be better for people with asthma is what I read when choosing? Anyway it looked great and went on well! haven't hung anything on the wall yet, but those boards are not going anywhere so Id feel totally comfortable just hanging right on them. Hope that helps!

Did you cover the edges in the window casing or did you leave it exposed?

Why would you install wood and then completely paint over the grain

  • @LivvInspired

Most people do (usually white or another color). Stain it if you’d like to see the grain
