This is refreshing to see someone REALLY doing a DIY project instead of some guy with ten thousand dollars in tools given to them by tool companies for their channel.... that most DIY people dont have.

Would it be bad to stain after the project ?

I've made a few of these tables. Instead of drilling through the top to secure it, use a 2x4 on the under side of the top that you drill up and screw into the top. Then use pocket holes on that 2x4 to secure it to the legs in between the legs. Now you have a top with no holes or screws showing.

Good job! I'm getting ready to make my wife one like this for our bedroom.

Nice build with tools that fit in a closet. Also, you set a great example of carefully measuring and taking your time with each cut. If you don’t mind a couple suggestions. Pocket holes would have been good to secure the top and another way to hide the fasteners. Also half lap joints are possible with a circular saw and your careful work habits.

Just a tip, you are using that kreg jig incorrectly. It is supposed to be placed different distances from the end of the board depending on the thickness of the wood. That particular jig is designed to wood on 3/4” wood with it flush to the end. You are using 1-1/2” thick wood, so it should be placed 1-1/4” from the end of the board. And the stop collar for the drill bit should be placed where directions say based on the thickness as well. Hope that helps with future builds!

Correct me if i'm wrong. From what I see you don't have a lot of knowledge about building furniture and using tools. I give you credit for trying. Most people like to complain about not having expensive tools like the rest of the DIY youtube group so they don't do anything. You did a great job, and it turned out great. The more you build and watch youtube videos the more you will learn. Keep up the good work. Again you two did an awesome job. 👍👍👍

Thanks so much! You’re totally right though. I don’t have a lot of experience but I find it to be so much fun! Wood projects are quickly becoming a passion of mine. I find the biggest problem is there are very few videos with enough detailed instructions. Is there someone you’d recommend me following?

Nice little project, awesome to see two young people taking the initiative to create something that they can take pride in. Why didn’t you use small L brackets to attach the top from underneath rather than the 2inch screws through the top. Just a thought for future projects.

Can someone please help me? Why only 5 supports connecting the two frames together? Why not 6? 9? How were the shelves put in? I thought they would rest on top of the 2x4s holding the two frames together.

Nice! I can scale it to fit my area.

Nice look. However you may experience wood bow and separation on the top by not allowing for movement in the wood over time. Next time attach top with floating Z clips instead of screws and glue. I can speak from experience.

im assuming that you can substitute glueing and clamping for doing pocket holes and glueing ? that would be better for me i think....

What was the point of staining if u were just going to paint it ......

So that way we could make little blemishes along the white paint and the dark stain would appear instead of the light wood.

When making the x. You can just cut 45s and have them resting on the top and bottom so it's even Also be care using kreg jig for everything. Especially on 2x2s. It make that joint weak.

​@@jsmk23 Kind of. The measurements were very close for so I didn't have to worry too much. But if you're worried about it you can always measure the empty space in the frame so you can make a good cut. Does that help? I can find some tutorial videos for you if you'd like

Yes I used 3 2x6's. I glued the two together first and then glued the third one to the other two.
