    One thing using corn starch you really need to mention it has corn starch in he product when you make it. I know quite a few people who are allergic to all grains ( true celiacs) I am one if I even touch anything with corn in it I break out, my throat swells, I develop memory issues. • @CassieSmallwood

    @CassieSmallwood

    2 жыл бұрын

    When you say "seal them", do you mean decorate them? If so, overnight should be enough to be able to handle them. If you want them completely dry first, your clay packaging should say what the drying time is. I decorated mine immediately but they're hard to handle like that.

  • @debbe9553

    @debbe9553

    @@CassieSmallwood do you use a spray to seal after decorating? With paint projects one artist told me that she lets her creations set/dry for 2 weeks before using a sealant on them. I think you would, to make sure your coconut flakes and sprinkles all stay put.

  • @CassieSmallwood

    @CassieSmallwood

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@debbe9553 Oh! I don't seal mine but they're for my own use. If I were selling them I probably would put a sealer on. The amount of time you need to wait before sealing will depend on the weather where you live. If it's humid, probably a week or 2 before sealing them. 2 weeks seems like an extremely long time to me. In drier places it may take less time.

    It will depend how big you make them. A few days most likely. You'll be able to tell when they're dry when they no longer feel squishy and feel more like foam.

    I've never had baby powder attract bugs, but I think I've found a completely non-food option. I'll be sharing it in a future video once I'm able to try it and make sure it works.

    Could be the additives in baby powder like zinc powder ,keeping weevils away. Ohh exciting if you found a nonfood powder. I did try zinc powder. But cant figure out what spay to use to stop it from falling off on the counter when picked up. Working on that. Your tutorial is so thorough and your voice is so pleasant.

    Instead of using cornstarch, you can use baby powder for fake powdered sugar! ❤

    Is your clay wet? If so, when you touch it it tends to come off. You can let the clay dry before painting.

    I've never had that happen but maybe you had too much glue. I could see how that would happen if it sat in wet glue for too long.

    You can use other caulk as long as it's clear. Many of the caulk types are white which won't work to make it look like real jelly.
