DIY Electric Bed Lift System | Ambulance Expedition Vehicle
Out of all the projects we're doing for our ambulance expedition vehicle, the electric bed lift system is perhaps the most exciting! This DIY electric bed lift maximizes the space inside our tiny home.

Absolutely the coolest bed/workspace/dinner table integration I have ever seen! WELL DONE!!!

Wow, thank you so much!
Greg....you sir, are a wizard!!! Chapeu to you!!!
Very unique! I thought I had seen every bed variation until now.
Nicely done. I love the bed and table. I am working on how to raise a bed in a step van. I saw a ne murphy bed from an Asian firm that lifted it all with just two actuators as a cantilever. But, what you folks made took genuine, high octane, home made ingenuity. I'm inspired.
What an awesome ambulance build
I've been designing a van and watching lots (I means LOTS) of videos. Yours is the first I've seen that has a bed design that I was planning. Absolutely brilliant.
Those lifters dont love a side load, hence the clevis attachments at the end. I did one similar in a previous build and it was a lot happier with some sort of linear motion control slide to attach the bottom corner of the bed to the rear wall. Then all of the lifters work is pushing straight up, and the linear motion device would transfer that upward force into a 'pull' to pull the bottom of the bed in as the back goes up. Other option is just a slide rail actuator.
Pretty cool. Nice build.
Amazing design and execution! Well done! The level of ingenuity and skills you bring to this build is the best I have ever seen.
Hi! Nicely done! I'm trying a similar idea on a vintage camper rebuild. Can you pass on any details on the lift you used? Thanks!
The reason why your butcher block countertops are cracking is several reasons: 1) your pieces are too wide. Narrow pieces allows less movement and stress. 2) you didn’t reverse grain when gluing up. 3) your pieces moisture content was still too high. 4) you mixed species. Certain species move more than others.
WOW Greg! You are so ingenious and skilled!!!!!!!
That is a GREAT Idea for the bed.
Excellent work. It pays to have a mechanical wizard around.

This is an amazing build and bed design! Great stuff! Hoping to build out my own Van/campervan conversion if I can(money and circumstance permitting) in next year or so if I can and I've been gleaning as much knowledge info and various designs as possible with regards to beds, shower/toilet designs, lithium&solar etc etc, this is one of the best and "cleanest" bed/table and layout designs and execution I've seen! Iv subscribed to your channel straight away as look forward to seeing your other videos and perhaps some of you on the road etc.. Well done on a fantastic design and execution of it! Best wishes on your future adventures, from London England 👍❤️💪😎🏴

This. Is. So. Cool. What a great design. 🥳 The one thing I can't figure out is how you actually climb in and out of the bed. Using the opposing dinette bench and then the table? (The only other way I see would involve putting a foot on the cooktop...)
This is so cool so far!

Greg, not that I doubted you, but I had difficulty "seeing" this working. I am so amazed by both of your hard work. The build is looking amaxing. Getting so excited...and impatient. :D

I hope on your Instagram page you say what type a spray on poly you are using. Looks great all these little tips would help me and my wife with our van build out
I'm sure they are moisture checking what was the moisture level of the wood before you finished it it should be < 8% for cabinets and finishing
Great idea and execution! What mattress did you guys buy that folded sowell?
It’s best to make those changes now not later. That you’re talking about. And go talk to some very experienced woodworkers. I mean those people that have the only shops and know about the wood why it would crack in my suspicion would be the wood is still drying out
I really love your build!! That’s what hard work and dedication get you!! I have a similar build I’m doing, I was wondering where you got your electric table? I have a 1996 f450 ambulance 🚑 Thanks!!! Safe Travels!!!
About the cracking of your wood I could be wrong. But I think I would only buy wood that has been seasoned. Another words set for long periods of time. So the moisture can dry out at any type of cracking can show and then you can work with the wood to smooth it out. If the water still has moisture in it as it dries it can crack
Hi guys great innovative build, do you have any further specs for the bed roller design by any chance.
I think the reason for counter tops a cracking . Did you poly all sides ? I made end tables once didn’t. Poly bottom so was uneven drying .
That’s the longest linear actuator I’ve seen! Where can I get one?
@ProgressiveAutomations
2 жыл бұрын
Hey there C! You can find this specific actuator here which can be customized based on your needs: www.progressiveautomations.com/products/linear-actuator-ip66
Did you check the moisture content of the wood before putting the poly on it?
Nice! What mattress did you use?
Fascinating, unique design! Love it.
Whoa! Wasn't expecting that at the end. That is some great work.
