    Thanks for this great video, I just changed out this gasket on my 2011 N55 335i. Took me about 9 hours. One observation, regarding removal of the 6 electrical connectors for the fuel injectors. It's not very clear above how to undo the latch (or tab) on these 6. I did use a pick tool but almost broke the housing trying to remove the connector. I actually had to grab each connector with a needle-nose pliers to get them out, they were pretty tight. When standing over the passenger fender and looking across the engine (like you are in the video), these 6 connectors are rotated at abut 45 degrees. The instruction that I'd add is that the side of the housing that you need to get the pick tool under and unlatch is the side facing 7:30. The adjacent side (facing 4:30) has a tab and this looks like the side with the latch, but is not. Hope this helps. Thanks again, some great tips in there.

    Another great DIYer Zeiten. I love your detailed instructions & cautions. All the heat cycles will make the plastic brittle & they will want to break. I'm curious, how many miles on this VC when it needed replacing? What is the normal dealer charge for this R&R? Greetings from an old jarhead in WNC. Is that your new E70 X5 that you were working out off.

    Thank you, appreciate your feedback, in my experience statistically speaking i can’t really pinpoint a certain mileage when valve cover itself has to be replaced i’ve seen crankcase valve failure on 80k miles and also first replaced at 160k and more. The gasket usually last for about 80-100k miles but depends on climate and other factors, regarding dealer charge for this job - no idea but well over 1200$. And lastly the x5 is a project for KZread basically😁 once it’s done it will go for sale and i’ll do the break down of all the costs and issues I’ve encountered on this great but abandoned car stay tuned😉

    Sorry to be a pain, I've got a quick question if i may. Got E90 N43 engine Msport. Has a 2e85 code which is water pump communication issue. Funny thing is i can see water pump bleeds fine and it does not overheat or anything. What can do would i need to replace water pump anyway or should i be looking for fuse or something? Any help can be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • @Zeiten

    Well that is not uncommon, just prepare yourself for water pump replacement, in my practice I’ve seen cars cruising with this code for months sometimes years with no issues but eventually it will fail. So that code is not 100% clear indication of water pump failure. Without water pump fuse it wouldn’t be operational at all No pain at all, that’s what this channel is for

    Thanks really loved your comments. Could i ask one last thing. This is a bit complicated problem with my e90 to get my head around. Its whenever i move my car up hill or engine making some sort of effort the pressure red light comes on, yet car drives fine. There is a tiny leak around the oil casing and near the sump but all my oil level are in good order nothing major leaks at all. I'm getting sleepless nights of this what should i do. Any help please.

    Just followed your video step by step, but the only issue im having is rethreading my fuel rail back on unfortunately. It is the fuel pipe bolt that connects the fuel rail to the HPFP. Threads appear to be fine as well.

  • @KD-hd2rn

    Is it really needed to replace the entire valve cover or is just the gasket enough? Heard that people were getting issues with pcv after vcg replacement and having to redo the job. Any input please?

  • @Zeiten

    @Zeiten

    6 ай бұрын

    Pcv gets clogged not because of gaskets replacement, if you want to be on a safe side replace valve cover. I’ve seen failed pcv at 70k miles and also no issues with it for 200k miles so the choice is yours

I’m pretty sure they stayed on during reinstallation but incase one did coke loose would it be catastrophic? Have seen on the pelican parts tutorial to super glue them on untill reinstalled. What do you think? Is it worth re removing the cover to adjust/glue? Thank you so much for the reply/showing how it’s done
