DIY Custom T-Shirts | Iron-On Transfer Paper (Dark & Light)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Want to make custom t-shirts? I used iron-on transfer paper sheets for a surprisingly easy DIY customized shirt. Choose any t-shirt design & print it straight from your computer. See below for more details & check out the design software I use here → bit.ly/Creative-Cloud1
Should you use dark or light iron-on transfers? I go over the differences between light & dark fabric transfers so you can choose the one that is best for your t-shirt design.
WHAT I USED:
- Dark & Light Iron-On Transfers BUNDLE - amzn.to/2KnClW0
- Iron-On Transfers For Dark Fabric - amzn.to/2L4bJuk
- Iron-On Transfers For Light Fabric - amzn.to/2ImtqmU
- Adobe Photoshop - bit.ly/Creative-Cloud1
- Bella+Canvas Boxy Flowy Tee (8838) & Flowy High Neck Tank (8809)- bit.ly/2vQvU6H
- Injet printer - amzn.to/2Gi69k4
- Computer - amzn.to/2Gk98IW
- Iron - amzn.to/2IqQDUU
- Scissors/exacto knife - amzn.to/2rIW8rd
- Pillowcase
STEPS FOR DARK IRON-ON TRANSFER PAPER:
1. Choose a t-shirt design and prep your graphic on a program such as Photoshop (bit.ly/Creative-Cloud1). Add a stroke if your design is mainly white so it’s easier to cut out.
2. Print out your graphic on regular paper as a test. Once you have adjusted the size and design, print it out on the iron-on transfer paper.
3. Cut out the graphic from the transfer paper. If you leave any white it will be transferred as white so make sure your cut thoroughly.
4. Prep a surface to use by placing a pillowcase on it and ironing it until there are no wrinkles. Place the shirt on top and iron it as well. The surface should be hard like a table or hard flooring and make sure it is not heat sensitive.
5. Place the cut out transfer paper with the image facing up on the shirt in the desired area. Place the tissue paper that comes in the packet on top of the transfer sheet.
6. Iron on top of the tissue paper with pressure using back & forth motions & as every as possible. Be sure to have your iron set to no steam and remove all of the water. Continue ironing for the length of time according your the size of your graphic (full page- 2 mins, 1/2 page- 1 min, 1/4 page- 40 secs).
7. Finally, let the shirt cool for 2 minutes and then peel on the tissue off, leaving only the transferred image. & your custom print t-shirt is now complete.
STEPS FOR LIGHT IRON-ON TRANSFER PAPER:
1. Choose and prep your graphic on a program such as Photoshop (bit.ly/Creative-Cloud1). You will need to reverse the image so that it is mirrored. Your printer may also have this setting.
2. Print out your graphic on regular paper as a test. Once you have adjusted the size and design, print it out on the iron-on transfer paper.
3. Cut out the image from the transfer paper. Anything that is left white will be transferred as clear.
4. Prep a surface to use by placing a pillowcase on it and ironing it until there are no wrinkles. Place the shirt on top and iron it as well. The surface should be hard like a table or hard flooring and make sure it is not heat sensitive.
5. Place the cut out transfer paper facing down on the shirt in the desired area.
6. Iron the transfer paper with pressure using back & forth motions. Be sure to have your iron set to no steam and remove all of the water. Continue ironing for the length of time according your the size of your graphic (full page- 3 mins, 1/2 page- 90 secs, 1/4 page- 45 secs).
7. Finally, let the shirt cool for 2 minutes and then peel on the transfer paper starting from an edge. & your t-shirt design is now done!
HOW TO WASH THE SHIRT:
- Wash inside out on a cold water cycle with low spin.
- Tumble dry on the lowest temperature possible or hang dry.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for explaining light and dark paper. Even the people at the craft store had no idea and told me it was just about how light or dark the fabric ones, and sold me light paper for my green tote bag and it would have had green in it instead of white! So glad I watched your video first!
I guess I have a Gucci shirt for Sale 😎😍

I absolutely LOVE your videos! I could not have figured out the iron on process without you! now I'm working on my 4th shirt in a day!
Thank you so much with the light transfers!!! I was so confused regarding the mirroring but this cleared things so much thank you
I'm planning on doing this except I'm drawing my own shirt thing on an art app THANK YOU!!! In reply to everyone the t-shirt art has worked I suggest using a wooden board! Because a table finish may melt. So just a quick note!

2:48 for the love of God use all the transfer sheet Lol. a great tip would be print other things so you dont waste all the sheet even if you save them for later. a good idea is b-roll prints like a bunch of pineapples or praying hands or birds. Good video tho

I'm a freelance artist. Recently, I collected cardboard dividers from a warehouse that I worked in. They're thin & shaped like paper but too hard to in a printer. Besides drawing on them, I couldn't find anything else to do with them until now. Maybe I can buy and use some transfer paper for them.
So the difference between light and dark is that dark you peel off first and then iron with the paper on top and for the light one you have to flip the letters backwards and iron without the paper and then peel off?
heyy Amanda, how long did your customized graphic last on the tee?
the color of your nails is bomb 💜😍
