Hey Amy, I love these. My question is every time i buy hooks off ebay in hugh sets like I see on your desk my ear lobes start to hurt. Any recommendations on other brands of ear hooks I should try?

Hi, LisaMarie! I would look for surgical steel earring hooks instead. A good place to find those is Etsy or Fire Mountain Gems.

Do you have any tips to get a more intricate cut? I have used a strong grip mat, painters tape and can’t seem to get anything cut with a lot of detail.

Hi, I find that intricate cuts are very difficult to make from faux leather. I prefer to cut more simple shapes from faux leather and then apply more intricate details cut from heat transfer vinyl on top. If you absolutely want to cut intricate cuts, I recommend using the Cricut brand faux leather. It is very thin but compact and it cuts intricate cuts the best - and I've tried them all. Drawbacks are because it's thin, it has to be double sided. Also the colors are very limited. Hope that helps!

Can you use permanent adhesive vinyl instead of HTV on the faux leather??

Hi, Jaqueline! Yes, you can! I prefer HTV because I find it easier to weed (and stay on the transfer sheet) for small shapes. Also HTV is thinner and sticks up less on the faux leather than permanent vinyl does, in my experience. But you certainly can use it!

Can you use real leather the same as faux?

Hi, Susan! That's a tricky question. If you mean cutting genuine leather with a Cricut the same as faux leather, generally speaking the answer is not really. You can cut some genuine leather with a Cricut Maker or Maker 3, but the shape needs to be pretty simple and the cutting can take a long time. You can't get the more complex cuts you can get when cutting faux leather. Also, you probably can apply heat transfer vinyl to genuine leather like I apply to faux leather in this project, but I don't know if you would really want to cover up the genuine leather like that.
