DIY CNC Machine - Electronics | Part 2/2

Ғылым және технология

In this video, I show you how I built my DIY CNC machine. All moving parts of the DIY CNC router are running on ball bearings while the structural parts are made with natural materials, namely birch plywood and solid beech wood.

I like how you added the LED strips. One suggestion: I would put down a cover between the electronics and the spoil board. Wood chips and dust will fall through the holes in the spoil board directly onto your electronics creating a fire hazard.

Well Done!!!! Very impressed. I have been looking for a DIY cnc router to build for several months now. This was by far the most comprehensive video series I have seen. It's clear, precise and informative. The sound is great and I can understand every word you say. I just want to thank you for putting this video series onto KZread for us. I downloaded the plans. Great price! Thank you for that! I also subscribed to your channel. I look forward to more from you. Best regards, David Miller

I am so impressed with this tutorial that although I have purchased a plan to build my own CNC I have decided that this design is much nicer, and requires no machining. All the cutouts are simple. I will be patiently waiting for the plans or blueprints so I can start building my own machine. Great job.

Great machine and even more, great documentation, particularly the wiring part. Since I am not into all electrical stuff, such detailed information is a precondition to get it done without help on the wiring. Fantastic! Really looking forward to the release of your drawings. Thanks in advance for all the work you are investing. I was considering to build a MPCNC, but the ruggedness of your machine is worth spending a bit more money. Frohe Weihnachten in die Schweiz!

Two of the clearest, most helpful videos I have seen... and I have looked at everything I can find! My budget won't run to ball-screws or linear rails, so I guess I will have to live with a less capable machine. Still, I hope to end up with something that will still provide enjoyment, without too much frustration. Fingers crossed. :o) Thank you so much for taking the time to show us your machine. I imagine starting it on a job and going to make a sandwich and then coming back to the finished job must be very satisfying! One thing I really like about the design is that it looks like it would scale up or down. Really great job.

As was mentioned by Jelle, using your switches as N/C would prevent damage to your motor, drivers or power supply in the event that the wire to your end stop switch is broken, in that way, the system would detect it and stop but in your configuration, if it is broken, the system motors would drive the axis into the end stop because a broken wire and a N/O switch are read as the same.

just a word of warning. Allow enough space in your flexible wire way (drag chain) so no compression of the cables occurr. Long term heating with the cable bundle can occurr and cause welding of the insulations to one another and even develop a short circuit between wires and cables. I have seen this several times in my 30 years as a cnc tech. Overall, nice build!

Fantastic build! A few things strike me - I would have made the uprights out of aluminum, and would have made metal plates to secure the wood over the linear bearings so to be able to provide more surface area to clamp with. And Fusion 360 is "quite simple to learn"? Not in my experience! Other than that - I want one!
