When I was going through puberty, my mom thought it might be some help to get me interested in arty stuff, and she got some unfinished pieces somewhere and then we went through the process of learning how to do 'antiqueing' , and she really took off. She did an entire dining set, sort of Duncan Phyfe, with 8 seats, recovered the seat proper, and I was simply amazed that she could do it...a little bit of help from me, but you know, puberty and all. then a desk and a small shelving unit, I was so proud of her. That was like 63 maybe 64, but then even earlier, I was amazed that she found some old fashioned decals and put a little rooster on each one of her kitchen cabinet doors... fascinating! So Mom, I'm still interested, and I still hate puberty. Hope you enjoy Germany. and I just turned 69! fondly, LW

I’m getting ready to refinish a jewelry box of mine to give to a friend and I’m going to be doing this method with a French linen, a very pale pink and tea rosy kind of color using this method. I’m just trying to figure out if I should include wood-u-bend because I just love it! (I love how do you use the trim around the bottom of the front of the piece and onto the sides. The way the paint picked that pattern up looks just beautiful.) I always learn something new watching you! Thanks for your videos.

It is gorgeous. It's just a piece of art. I would like to know what clear wax u r going to use. I know clear wax will darken the finished paint and will hide most of its beauty but u still need to protect that piece of furniture. Is there any kind of clear wax or protection material that can protect the painted furniture without darkening its original finished paint???
@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove
Жыл бұрын
I’ve used Annie Sloan clear wax and it’s pretty good with her paint. It does go on slightly darker but once it’s fully cured it tends to go back. Almost to the original colour pre-waxing just a slightly different finish. 😊😊

It always catches my attention. I really like the colors in this, the salmon, the greens, and that perfect milk/cream white. Just curious if it was a decopage or paint inlay, it is so appealing.) Thanks!

What have you primed the piece with Johnathan?
@lindz916
Жыл бұрын
He doesn’t (that I have EVER seen) prime with Annie Sloan. It’s just not necessary. Cleaning your piece well and rinsing is all you need to do. It has fantastic adhesion. It can even be used on laminate. Conversely, any time you use Saltwash in your paint for your first coat, it creates even more adhesion. Also, sanding is not necessary unless you’ve got flaking paint on the prior finish, as it actually releases the tannins and is what more often than not caused excess bleed through
