Nobody would complain if your videos were 3hrs long. You’re a wealth of info. Your entertainment value is a 10
He's so cute. I'm pretty sure I saw him on the yelliw brick road with Dorothy. Oh, that would be a fun set! Tin man, Lion, Dorothy with her basket & Toto along with Scarecrow.

Another fun carving, Doug and your projects are addictive. When I finish my owls (23) this will be my next project. Your videos are very much appreciated...great fun. Thanks a bunch!
Great Job Doug!! Thank you for explaining your carving techniques.. You got me into the world of carving that I enjoy very much..
Looks great Doug. My dad and love watching your videos and trying out your carving and making up our own. Great bonding time for sure
Great job! I like him. And thanks for the, up coming, breakdown of the intro2carving. As beginners, we overthink stuff and I'm sure you will help us think more about shaping wood and less about the tools. Again Thank You Very Much !
Another awesome video. I love all your videos and projects. As an artist myself, I love to make things. I’ve tried so much to make your little carving projects. I just cannot for the life of me get my knife sharp. Obviously I lack sharpening experience even though I’ve been at it for years. But I’ll keep at it. Thanks for posting Doug.
Another great tutorial Doug. As others have said, you make it seem so easy. Lots of practice. Thanks once again. Can’t wait to see another.
Recently found your channel and am enjoying catching up. So nice of you to share your expertise, and to do it so well. 👍👍
Best yet Doug !!! Great idea. Has a good flat plane look which gives loads of character and spontaneity to the piece. Love the face too. ATB from the UK.
This little scarecrow is just the cutest thing ever. Watching you carve is simply fascinating. Thank you so much for posting these videos. You are such a wonderful gentleman. Hi from California.
scare crow looked great, you have so much talent doug.
As always very well done. I have learned a lot from you and continue to do so each and every time I watch you. I have done quite a few of your carvings and people really like them. I have my supply of Bass wood coming from Grimsby Ont. soon . I live in SC but go up there a lot. Thanks for what you do to help us novices.
Omg! He's so cute. all of your little guys are fantastic! I end up with a huge smile on my face when i see them.
He is such a fun piece, his grin just makes me smile! Thanks
I love watching your videos. I like your casual but thorough manner you use to explain what your are doing. You always talk in a way that even a beginner can understand without coming across like you are speaking to beginners. I look forward to seeing your new into to carving videos. I will be going out to buy a carving knife very soon.
your kids and now your grandkids must have a great collection of your work. Family heirlooms!
I agree with Richard Groom, breaking the whole process up into short topics is great for the beginner; go for it Doug!

I so enjoy watching your videos. They are very relaxing and clean fun. I really enjoyed the story of the little Indian finding his family at the longhouse. Thank you for sharing your talent or (I should say, Talents). God Bless you and your family.
Doug i started watching you a few years now. Have never carved anything other than a bookmark and a little spoon with my pocketknife. Thank you for patiently going through each step and making it seem like its something I can do.
Oh my gosh! I love the scarecrow! So adorable! I love your videos, you really go to great lengths to explain to us how you do things and show us in the process, very considerate. I appreciate it. Love your tee shirt too. he he Peace and Good Fortune to you and your family.
Yet ANOTHER great carving!!! Thanks SOOO much for all you do!!! Timely and fairly simple carvings for the Halloween/Fall Holiday!!! Your videos are great as they are NOT tooo detailed, but just the right amount to give us the idea of your carvings, yet, give us the option to add our own personal effects!!! I'm sure you do this intentionally, and I, like many others appreciate this!!! You are a great carver and inspire sooo many non-professional carves/amateur carvers to do something different and fun to do!!! THANKS for all you do and safe carving/bushcrafting to you and yours ALWAYS!!!
Thanks Doug, can't wait to try this project, looks like alot of fun, and yes, thanks to you, i carve bro. ....lol.
We are grateful to you as a scarecrow family. Thanks a lot
A cute scarecrow it is! Great job Doug!
Just wanted to say thank you to you Doug for being you and posting really good content. Keep it up sir! Happy holidays and happy New Year to you and your family from Sweden!
Doug is so awesome! I learn so much from these vids. Thank you, Doug!
Very nicely done Doug. The specific video Idea.... very useful. Great channel. Scarecrow man is a hit!
Great idea on the break-down for each facet of the introduction to carving. The simplicity of tools needed for projects like this are nice too. It'd be fun for you to do an "Old Joe" pose with one of his antics to preserve in time something funny on one of your trips.
What an awesome little guy. Great job! I’ll have to try that out. Can’t wait for your mini woodcarving videos
Great video! I'm slowly teaching my grandson how to carve, and this video will provide a good learning project for both him and myself. Can't wait for the follow-up videos covering fundamentals... should answer many of my questions and shorten the learning curve. Thank for putting in the time and effort for helping promote this great hobby and artistry!
Thanks so much Doug. I now have another one of your carvings under my belt. My orders from family are piling up! Love these tutorials. Also, I now own a pack boat and have completed my first 100mi canoe camp trip. My wife may need to have a word with you. 😄
He's a friendly-looking scarecrow - really nice! The Helvie knife seemed like the perfect tool for that project. Always look forward to your carvings.
I think you are an awesome carver Doug! Keep up the good work in sharing this with us. 👍😁

Great video Doug! So easy to follow along with your shooting angles. The scarecrow turned out great. Alex made one last year with a crow on its shoulder for a customer that was similar to yours, but nowhere as good. Thanks for another tutorial!

Great video Doug...My 1st carving video was your tutorial , now I carve over 20 carvings most of them from your videos, I carve a coffee spun from butternut you had in one of the outdoors videos... thanks bro!!!
Thank you Doug. You inspiration me to put a carving knife back in my hand.
Loved the carving and thank you for showing us your work. I watched your video about where and how to carve. My Great Grand Father had a medium sized hard leather piece. He whittled on his knee with that leather covering his whole lap. I got the leather piece and then you said not to use your lap for obvious reasons. I think I will still use the leather piece to protect my table. Thank you.
Turned out awesome, as usual. Thanks Doug.
You make it look so easy! Thanks for sharing!
He came out adorable! Great job!

I would be happy if I could carve as good as you .yes there are some very good carvers out there but to us you are the best
I really like him. And I like your painting much better.
I like your camping vids, but I love that you persevere doing this, what you love😊😁😃😄😅😂😆
Hi, Doug. Love your little Scarecrow. His smiling face made me laugh WITH him. As you were giving him a hair cut, all I could think of, "Oh, he has "John Denver" hair!! This video is dated October 2, 2019, exactly one year ago today. I didn't notice it until just now. I hadn't seen it before. Take care, stay safe and healthy. Long time fan and subscriber, Donna Blackman, Missouri, USA
That's so awesome - Can you believe, I walked into a shop last week, saw a small scarecrow knick-knack on the shelf, and thought the very same thing - great carving idea! This turned out great! I still need to try one! Fun, fun! Thanks SO much for sharing!!! :) - Something else I saw and thought I might try carving is a black crow on wire legs (a thought?).
You are special Bro! I enjoy watching you carve and always learn something. I'm constantly balancing my ADD with my OCD lol! such that I have trouble leaving all the little facets that your carvings have that make them so whimsical and interesting. Mine come out looking like a poor attempt at realism. But I'm learning. You have such a neat way of "chunking" out pieces that get right to the point so to speak. But again, I just love your work!
Great job keep on carving for all your fans and new carvers
Another great production Doug! One subject that I would find helpful is the proportions you use for different carvings, like fraction, not necessarily measurements. Looking forward to your re-edits!👍
man u are sooo damn good,been following u for yr and a half,nd i must say,u are a "special"
Hi there Doug from the Isle of Wight in the UK. Doug, your a genius. Your videos are gonna change my life. You make it look so easy. I’ve bought myself some basswood and some tools. Keep up the great work. God bless and Happy New Year. Graham Hall
Another great video. No doubt many people here are inspired and likely have taken up carving.
Doug...now I need to go back and finish off the kingfisher on its perch that I have been carving on and off for over a year ! Thanks for posting I have the carving bug again.
Another excellent carve Doug. Looking forward to the redone basics videos.
That was fun to watch. I need to work on my boldness with the knife and take some bigger cuts. Always a pleasure watching you work.
Another fun vid. Thanks doug.
Great video Doug!
Excellent job on that scarecrow. The Thomas kinkaide of carving. I hope I’m as good as you are at carving, of course it’s going to take lots of practice.
