DIY Carb Sync Tool motorcycle car

How I made a Carb Sync Manometer at home for cheap $. Review of tool in my previous video that shows how it works. Hoses hook up to vacuum ports on carbs. With engine running, adjust carbs until liquid levels out on all four. Be careful not to suck ATF into carbs.

    I've used this with just a clear tube, no restrictors or connectors, just zip ties and cardboard, though it was this video I got the idea from (thanks). My bike was a twin andas long as your tubing is long enough and you're careful it doesn't suck up any fluid. Works great though and if I make another I will use the tips from the video. At the time I had the stuff on hand and was a long ride to the store so I made do, but it worked fine.

    thanks for this. got some 1/4 clear tubing from home depot, had everything else. only needed a loop since only 2 carbs on the v-twin. no restrictor here but the ATF is heavy enough and I used a lot of tubing length and fluid, I think that helps the bouncing.

    Can i put petrol instead of transmission oil like you did ? I think that would be the safest option and petrol is liquid enough, i am tuning carbs on gsxr 750

    Hahaha! I'm thinking of making one myself. Currently owns a Yamaha FZR400R. The most horrible experience I ever had in riding: Just cruising at about 60 mph when there was a truck that is crossing the street. I pulled to a stop to let the vehicle cross the road when my bike just died. Dead! Did my best to run the engine but the revs are not rising. Revved the engine enough to get back idling, then tried to go back to my house. And it was running on just three, or even two cylinders. Every time there was something that would cross the roads I would feel like the end of the world...after all, I was 30 miles or so from my place! For making the sync tool, I would use 3/8 or 1/2 acrylic tubes and the restrictors on the tubes directly, in order to reduce inconsistencies. Would use five-feet 1/4 hoses as well, just add an adaptor for certain vacuum plug sizes(they say 6mm on my bike). Because of the tube size, I would use general-purpose oil or a suitable light-weight lubricant that would not hurt the engine if it sucks some(2-stroke oil becomes sludgy when cold). I would add restrictors on the self-balancing part of the tool if needed. What I wanted is to make a single tool to do meet the needs not only for me, but for all my buddies who ride with more than a single cylinder. And since the tubes are acrylic, I can also fuse them together and add a stand! And, about FI-equipped bikes, you still need to synchronize them 'every six months' as the R6 service manual says. You would not notice the difference, but every last adjustment should count into something great. And valve clearances affect the synchronization too, so watch out. For carburetor-equipped engines, you do not really need to follow the specified 'vacuum pressure' specified by the service manual. This is due to the fact that balancing everyone(the carburetors) would turn your idle speed higher or lower. You just adjust the idle speed adjustment screw and you are done, making sure the levels are same. You would love to check synchronization from idle, to mid-redline, then at maximum power, and check if the levels are still the same. Now if all is good, hooray! Do NOT forget to put the blanking plugs/bungs/screws back on the vacuum check holes. Thanks for sharing the information. ルイ02

    Brother, if you set the air screw of the throttle, then the rpm will also change??

  • @Cheezeball99999

    @Cheezeball99999

    The idea is to set the carburetors at the same vaccuum level, and therefore equal throttle position. You then adjust the idle separately at the linkage. If you (like me) have two totally independent carburetors with dual cables and no linkage, then it's a whoooole lotta fun getting the idle where you want it. Turning screws and turning screws and turning screws until the fluid level is equal and idle is reasonable. My XS650 is set at 850 or so right now. Lower idle sounds better, but it's where I had to stop for fear of losing my mind.

    The problem wont be if it burns or not.. the problem is that any liquid that enters cylinder will exceed compression and break the engine (piston rod, or valves, etc)
