Yay! So glad you found this helpful! 😊 I’m in KY as well and the mosquitoes are RIDICULOUS 😳 My poor baby went outside last week for 5 minutes without this spray and he was instantly eaten up. When he does have it on, they leave him alone! 🙌🏻
Can’t wait to try this!!! 💕

Girl yes!!! Let me know if you try it! Also, I’m pretty close to you! I live in KY, about an hour from Nashville! 😁
Hi! Cool vid! How long would this last? Would I be able to keep it for next summer if I don’t use it all in one summer or would I have to make a new batch?
@WhitneyGorman
Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! I have done this to test it out and determined that it wasn’t as potent as it is when it is fresh, so I would say it is probably best to make a fresh batch next summer when you’re ready to use it again!
Great! I needed this. Thank you. What's the shelf life?

Thank you for watching!!! 😊 I hope it works for you! Honestly, the batch that I make and that I shared in the video is so small that it lasted only a couple weeks in our house. I probably would just make a new batch after about 3 months, but that’s just my opinion!
Why not shake it, what does that do to it?
Любо-дорого посмотреть🥰👍
hi there from malaysia! if i want to do essential oil for diffuser, can i just exclude the water, because i only wanted to do essential oil for diffuser, not a spray. can it work like that? i hope you can and will answer this
@WhitneyGorman
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Erna! Thanks so much for watching!! Typically when using a diffuser, you would still need water, but you would exclude the witch hazel. Just fill your diffuser with water, then add approximately 2 or 3 drops each of your essential oils! 😊
I've used so many store bought bug sprays and none of them have worked. So here I am 🤣

Thanks so much for watching, Brittany! I hope this spray worked for you!! I’ve used it again several times this year and it’s worked great for us! ❤️
Question: If I make this bug recipe up in advance how long is it good for? I ask because I would like to make some up 2 months prior to use for an outdoor wedding rehearsal dinner.
@WhitneyGorman
3 жыл бұрын
For freshness, I would probably make it up to two weeks in advance, but I haven’t had any issues using it months after making it, so it is completely up to you! 😊
so that means we just need witch hazel, distilled water, and a choice of bug repellant essential oils.

Don't use eucalyptus or tea tree as it's harmful to pets
Can you use lavender on it own or what other oils would you mix it with
@WhitneyGorman
Жыл бұрын
You could definitely add lavender. I wouldn’t use it by itself for the purpose of repelling mosquitoes though.
I’ve tried the natural bug repellent and they don’t work
Can you spray on the couches, bed, and linen??
@WhitneyGorman

Hi Gladys! I don’t see why you couldn’t! 🙂 I would probably lay just be careful to not spray too closely as to not cause water stains! Let me know how it works for you!
Hi I’ve tried this and I found that it hasn’t repelled the mosquitoes here in the Caribbean I have been bitten on several occasions, I have even double the dose of lemon grass essential oil
@lorenas6718

thats because it needs an emulsifier to bind the water and oil together, and where you live the spray needs to be stronger, and add tea tree oil and rosemery and lavender oil

@@lorenas6718 I used all the items mentioned excluding Rosemary for a 120ml Spray Bottle, these ingredients where: 1) Glycerine (binder or the emulsifier) 1 table spoon 2) Citronella oil 15 drops 3) Lavender oil 10 drops 4) Tee Tree oil 15 drops 5) Oil of Oregano 15 drops 6) Lemon Grass oil 30 drops 7) Lemon Eucalyptus oil15 drops 8) Witch Hazel (50ml) 9) Distilled Water (50ml) Where did I go wrong? I'm back in the UK now, but your advice would be very much appreciated for the future.

@@duanespence8628 I would omit the water honestly...witch hazel all the way. Don't know about the emulsifier if needed if you just roll it or mix it as she says before using. Also i'd look into how pure your essential oils are, plus bump up the drops. Hope any of this helps. I'm making this before our summer trip this week.

Not to be rude but you don’t need a amber glass spray bottle because I tried this with a different type of spray bottle
@WhitneyGorman
Жыл бұрын
That’s great! I prefer to use Amber glass bottles because some essential oils are light sensitive. The Amber helps to shield the oils from the light.
sorry, you need an emulsifier to bind the oil and water together

@@BMAAT1 Question... how much veg glycerine would you use for this recipe and would it leave oily stains on clothes at all? Thank you!

I don’t think it would ruin it. Thanks for watching!
What is second ingredient? I'm not from US
@WhitneyGorman
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bea! The second ingredient I used is witch hazel, which is an astringent used as a carrier to the skin. If you can’t find it, you could use high proof vodka instead! Vodka would also help with the sting and/or itchiness if you do happen to get an insect bite! Best of luck and thanks for watching!
How many ounces is that bottle?

It is a 4 ounce bottle! I will update the description box with a link to them if you’d like to check it out! Thank you so much for watching!
