Anytime you install a cementitious product (cement) over an organic product (wood) you have to install a decoupling membrane/product between the two. This is because organic materials move with temperature/humidity changes and cementitious materials don't. Not installing a decoupler means that the cement over the wood will crack after a few years. One solution would be to install 1/4" cement board over the wood before coating it.

It's a neverending pleasure to watch you two working together. Andrea you're always amazing. I can certainly tell that was a tough job doing that stucco. You're fortunate that you're young, strong and healthy. So sorry to hear about your family flu bugs. That's nasty stuff. Hopefully some Florida Sunshine and some good Orange juice will get you all back on track again. God Bless you all!

The fire place already looks so much better than with the original brick. It wasn't too long ago people were ripping out archways and now they're back in fashion again. Can't wait to see it when it's finished.

I'm obsessed with this! I love the look and I will be doing mine later this week! I already started redoing my basement stairs, the concrete needed to be redone. I didn't think I could do it but after I saw your video I decided to just get it done! My husband came home to two steps done! Lol!

You don’t need a bonding coat to bare brick or cement. Only if you are plastering over existing coats or paint do you need bonding agents. It should be fine but a mechanical bond would have been way stronger

You guys are amazing. This is something I have thought about doing for a long time. There is a product called La Hambra Santa Barbara finish that gives a super smooth finish. I had a stucco guy tell me it can get hairline cracks. Nice job!

Replace filters each and every month and never use high end filters because they pull hard on your HVAC system, wearing it out a lot faster! We use the cheapest filters only and just replace every month, put it on your calendar, that’s what we do! We have a relative that works in the HVAC industry. He tells us everything!

This is awesome. I wish it was real white plaster. That would be extremely difficult to make it flat. A little imperfection gets magnified with the white plaster.

Oh what pretty plumaria....makes me miss Hawaii....and that fireplace is looking "snazzy".....and Dean, "why aren't you wearing a mask when mixing stucco??....
