We are already in the big crash , inflation is a catastrophe. This CPI report is a colossal failure. To bring the housing market to a halt,the FED will have to pull all the stops . The unfortunate issues is that the other market are being decimated. If you want to stay green ,you have to rely on a lot of diversification. Currently up 15% and being carful. Still a better deal than leaving it in a savings or checking account yielding 0-1 percent interest.

Only difference is that if you choose to use a windows PC to mine, and you use cgminer, you should download "zadig utility" (google is your friend) to get the driver for it (works with bfgminer out-of-the-box). Minepeon on Raspberry Pi is exactly the same. Pretty straight-forward, basically plug-and-play.

Patrick Dalesio Go for it, but you will lose money on it, as it is inefficient. It will never make your money back. With Red Furies, it's just as easy as block erupters, the setup as described in this video is identical, but you can actually make your money back with them, unlike block erupters.

I ordered everything on your list but used a faster ASIC Minter Block Erupter (3 of them). Couldn't get the Paspberry to boot but plugged the USB hub into my workstation and walla. Getting about 4.766Gh/s right now. Going to add more and get another usb hub and add yet more. The size of the erupter whic cooling thingy doesn't let you use all the slots. 10 port usb hub will hold 5 erupters and the fan. So, 10 erupters should get about 15.94Gh/s

the funny thing is there are some asic miner usb sticks for about 20$ which give you 2ghash per unit.....i know this vid is kind of old but if you want to build something like that... use the antminer u2 (1,6ghash and safe overclocked to 2,2 ghash)

To make this setup more energy effecent you can power the USB via your CAT-45 with a little modification. Other then that GREAT VIDEO!! XD

Most times I would add it's good you learn the processes also. It's difficult to see someone who don't experience ups and downs in trading but gaining is where it matters

Now in 2015, those things are worthless for mining bitcoin, I would not get block erupters. I would go for the Antminer because for example, the S3+ does 400-500 gh/s. While fred mentioned the thing he made does more than 2gh/s.

Nice rig, but today (9/26/2017), each 10-port hub would produce just over 3 GH/s hash rate, which would make you just about 9 cents pr month (if you had zero electrical costs associated with the miner itself). T'was a nice ream.

Eric Kramer indeed, this setup would cost you around 200 dollars and you would hash at ~2 Gh/s, with the antminer s5 you would hash at ~1155Gh/s so its a 2 vs 1155 difference for about twice as much money lol. It's an old video tho.

2016, bitcoin mining might not be overly profitable, but when your able to mine that block with and get that lucky break you can rack in real money.. even if its not overly profitable, its is still something fun to get into.. just to have it running in the background for pennies a day, why not!

Everything is based on scale and the levels of returns. If you invest $1000 and make 7% that means $70 in returns (excluding tax and running costs). At $1,000,000 that means $70,000. For every $1,000,000 of an investment my minimum returns would be 8% (80,000) before I would even consider it an investment. Anything less than 8% for me is a hobby.

if you had a bunch of these strips with the miners will you need a seperate raspberry pi for each one and run each one into the modem seperately?

yes you can create much different projects with it! examples: 1. Printer-server 2. NAS 3. programm the GPIO (use them for electronic projects) 4. make home-automation ... You really have a lot different options and even the older Raspberry Pi B works great in nowadays!
