    Looks great. I'm looking to build a small vanity too, so this is perfect timing. I just need to figure out how to taper the legs.

    Thanks, glad you liked it! Hopefully I'll have the write up for it out this weekend, with measurements. Yeah I wish I could taper these, but I don't have a big enough table saw. Jon Peters actually released a video recently on adding a small taper with a miter saw to the legs on some planters. I almost did it to this but didn't in the end, kinda regret it

    With the price of lumber in 2023 still, I'm not sure if one can build this for less than buying a vanity. Unfortunately. I mean plywood is still pretty expensive yet. And it looks like you are using the "pre-milled" poplar boards from a big box store, which can be pricey too. (if you don't have a jointer and planer it can save a lot of time to just buy premilled but you pay probably 2x the cost of even a hardwood dealer) . However, if you have to customize something then it makes sense to build it.

  • @JessedoesDIY

    Yeah, I never said it was cheaper because it wasn't. But it of much higher quality and much much sturdier than any vanity you could buy in store which is worth something too.

    I was thinking of doing that but I have no ETA right now on when it'll be done unfortunately. Too much other stuff to get done while our very short summer season is here

    Looks great. Working on it now. Never painted plywood before. What grit do you prefer to sand to before painting?

  • @JessedoesDIY

    @JessedoesDIY

    4 ай бұрын

    Thanks, glad to hear it! Honestly just 120 grit is fine because your going to sand the primer and maybe the first coat of paint yet after and that's where the smoothing comes from

    In Puerto Rico the majority of vanities are made of pvc. Have you thought about doing a project using pvc? I was thinking that the drawer in your vanity is going to get wet in case of a water leak. What about a vanity made with wood but the drawer box made of 3/4 pvc panel, and its face made of wood? Thanks.

  • @JessedoesDIY

    @JessedoesDIY

    Really? Thats different than here. We have very limited pvc that I could buy here, and it's very very expensive, mostly outdoor materials here and no sheets. The chances of a water leak are always there, but pretty low here.

    Amazing job man. What was the purpose of setting the drawer front in there when you were Measuring the drawer slides? Was it to determine the set back measurement for the slides?

    Where the hell have you been? Thought you’d be CanaDOAn! 🤣 I get it, some projects just suck the life out of you. Have been trying to perfect a dual planter with bench in between and it’s been kicking my ash! 🤣 But it’s almost done. Anyway, have had problems finding the best tongue/groove bits. What worked for you???

    I've been struggling with this thing and the top for it lol as it is the top isn't done yet and I admitted defeat and decided to just release this lol Yeah hey, sometimes they just fight you. Then you just need to step back and come back at it another time. Hopefully you get er done, it's planting season lol I linked the exact bits I used in the description. It was the Freud adjustable bits, expensive but man they worked amazing. These are even made for undersized plywood which my first bit set wasn't so the center panel was a little loose. Was annoying but I'm actually glad it worked out this way now. Thanks for keeping tabs!

    @@JessedoesDIY Thanks! BTW, that vanity looks amazing and love the color. Cement is tricky, don’t know your issues but I’ve done them with plain cement, grating, chicken wire and even rebar. Polishing cement is another story. Ok, maybe I’ll finish planter before end of summer! 🤣 I’ll race you to getting it done before your cement top! Keep up the great videos, you rock!!!

    Anytime! Thanks man, I'm pumped with how it turned out. It's weird because I've done lots of concrete tops before, but I've never had so many issues as this, I've even been in vintage with quikrete to figure out the problem. Lol better hurry then, planting and sitting in the sun season are upon us. I'm pouring the next top this week!

    I've got some right now I'm going to add. Quikrete says they have some in the mix already and isn't needed, but that has not been my experience. I've seen his channel, unfortunately he has a lot of incorrect info on concrete. They may turn out ok but I wouldn't count on his projects lasting without curling or cracking
