Again, I love how you are explaining why you are doing what you are doing, and some of the challenges of doing this work in an older home. Great job!
I learn so much from your videos and I LOVE the way you quickly get into it..."right now"!

Crazy how sometimes that "crazy thought" of what you may find by uncovering or tearing more out ends up benefiting you in the end. Good stuff.

I love this bathroom remodel series!! Watching you rip out all of the old material is so satisfying to me! I have been doing a remodel of my own lately. I’ve been working on repainting my sisters room before her birthday. I stripped all of the moulding, the trim around all of the windows and doors, and the baseboards, now I am going to start painting. I always enjoy every upload from the channel!

So many layers to the floor, that squeak would drive me nuts. Amazing what extra screws could do. See ya next episode.

He slept soundly for the first time in months the night he put those extra screws in and fixed the squeak. Finally he mumbled in his sleep as his family went to and from the bathroom without a squeak in sight.

Can you get the squeaking out of hard wood floors or do you have to go under the hardwood??? Loving this series. 💗

Hey, Pauline! Great question... I should make a video on this one day. It really depends I guess on where the squeak is and what kind of sub floor, etc. You can always predrill holes in the hardwood and use small trim screws to tighten it up but then you will have to fill the hole and make it look nice. A screw from the bottom up could also work... Thanks for watching!
Didn’t even realize we are on episode 12.... glad the creak is soon to be gone!

Is it code in your area that you can't do plumbing? I'll always do plumbing, the worst that can happen is you get wet. Make a mistake with electric and you get dead.🙂

Yeah it is the law here... I agree that wiring is way more dangerous than plumbing. I don't understand it 🤷🏻♂️. Thanks for watching, Sue!
Is there a reason you aren't using a self leveler? Seems like that could be beneficial here?? I'm enjoying this series!
@TheFixerHomeRepair

Hey Nathan! I wanted to use "large format thinset". You can put it on really thick and it dries like concrete. Also adheres to wood and cement board really well. I have had issues with floor leveler in the past, either not sticking or cracking. The amount to fix this would also be very expensive! Thanks for watching!
Gypsum Board is the generic term for Drywall or Sheetrock
@TheFixerHomeRepair
3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is.
You could staple chicken wire down and float the floor with thinset type mix I would need to look it up mapei product. It would be thin enough to lay the tile and ypu could level it out with thinset
@TheFixerHomeRepair
3 жыл бұрын
I have a very similar plan... Stay tuned!!
Use self leveling concrete. Put plastic over the old wood floor and pour the self leveling concrete. then all You have to do is tile over that. your floor will be prefect.
@TheFixerHomeRepair

My plan is very similar to that 😁. Stay tuned!!
I was waiting for the "looks like I have to completely remove the entire floor and start over" moment.

So you don't even bother to check the foundation or joists for sink or rot. Seems like slapping a bandaid on a potentially worse problem.

Hey! I thought I explained that in the video... If I didn't, don't worry, there is another episode with more details coming soon. 😁 Thanks for watching!
🤤🤤🤤🤤thirsty for more
3/4 ... 5/8 ... it would be so much easier in centimeters and such :) But I understand why this isn't gonna happen. Just look at "3 feet". That a pretty single digit. In metric it would be 91,44 cm. 3,3" too short for a "pretty 1 meter single digit". You're used to 3 feet and we're used to 1 meter. Different in length but exactly the same for each others point of view.

I have heard this a lot. I am so used to measuring in feet, not sure I could switch. Thanks for the comment and for checking out the video!
