Cost $3-400, hearing a heartfelt "Thank You, Dad!"=PRICELESS!
that "thank you dad" at 4:40... what an absolute win
This is great! This is exactly what I was looking for on KZread for a diy cheap slide. I can't believe there's not more videos like this. Great job! I'll have to post a picture here if my husband and I can actually complete this project this summer!
Me and my dad have been talking about making a playground and he said that he didn't want it to be to big and spend to much money but I was looking on youtube for ideas and I found this and me and my dad said this is perfect! Thank you so much this is exactly what we where looking for! From Grace 😁
This is awesome!!! Great idea on the flashing! Definitely about to try this!
Well done and happy kids, thanks for the ideas 💡 👍🏽
Wow! Awesome job, I was looking to build one in this height
Great job. It inspired me to make a slide
Awesome 👍 Great job 👍 new subscriber liked 👍 hello from Kentucky mountains USA 👍
Put grip tape on the tops of that lumber ladder you got there. When it ages, it'll get softer and more slippery when wet.
Nice project! how thick is the top plywood?
Your a great dad
Very cool - I'm watching your vid b/c I'm in the midst of making a slide for our backyard playhouse. What did you do to reduce the risk of splinters on the slide rails? Sanding and coating w/ poly? Secondly, how did you keep the ends of the flashing at the top and bottom of the slide from being too sharp?

Not sure what he did, but my recommendation would be to bend the flashing over the edge of the plywood at the top and bottom. I'm going to build one myself soon and this is what I plan to do. For the sides, I'm toing to rip a PVC pipe and attach it to the top of the 2x4's for a smooth top over the 2x4's. Also going to have a flat "landing" at the bottom of the slide for a smoother end...
This is awesome, wish this was more of a diy for dummies...lol I could buy all the supplies but wouldn't know what to do with it😂

Haha sorry! Get a friend that has some building experience and you’ll be golden!
Excellent 👍, I will make one for my daughter, thanks for sharing
maybe round the shape edges a bit. awesome built
Awesome idea. Planning on building a similar one for my kid. Quick question.. Does the aluminium flashing get hot in summer?

So far so good, it’s hot in the summer right now but the kids haven’t complained once and no burns. It’s a little less hot than the metal slides I grew up with
what gauge flashing did u use?
Doesn’t that flashing get hot in the summer
Fast forward one year since you built the playground, how is the flashing holding up? Is it still the material you would recommend to use over something like 16 gauge steel, for example? I’m thinking of building a slide on my hillside so it’s a slightly different application but basically the same type of build will work for me but with treated wood on the bottom. I really like your playground. I’m sure the kids love it!!

2 years in the flashing is still in perfect condition so my experiment worked!

How’s the metal Flashing on a hot summer day?
trying to build a slide for 1 year old nephew, he's on the hefty side so i don't think the ones that are able to purchase can handle his weight, flashing is a pretty good idea but is there a safer material that anyone thought of that has no chance of slicing a kid open?
I would love more details on the slide!

@@jeremywilkins4985 I ended up making one it came out really good it's about 6 months old no rust and holding up good so far but at current lumber prices you might as well buy a slide... Price it out and see what's cheaper if it's close just buy a slide it's alot off work.

I have a plastic slide I bought at a garage sale for $1....but it's for a 5ft high deck and my lumber built playground is 6.6' high....making the slide very steep/too dangerous. Plus, I wanted it 30" wide.... Lumber prices have fallen close to normal rates where I'm at so I'm going to attempt to make my own slide.

@@jeremywilkins4985 best of luck man! I would look online for that flashing to see if they have it in store for that size I had to go to two different stores to get mine when I did it.

@@knight8821 Purchased 24"x50' alluminum flashing roll today on ebay for $65....I'm building the slide this weekend
Now that your setup has been up for sometime, how is your plywood floor holding up. I was considering using a similar design but I considered the fact that when it rains it may have water that does not run off like decking wood would, please let me know if you dont mind. Thanks.

After 4 years it’s still ok with no rot but applying sealant or paint would make it last even longer.
That's a good idea putting monkeybars under the platform
Does the flashing get to hot in direct sun?
@Dr_Owen

Luckily it's thin enough that it hasn't been an issue
I would have appreciated the step by step one
Curious to know what angle you put the slide?
@Zhcwu
Жыл бұрын
My guess is you don't want it 45 degrees as it's a little too intense but you want it greater than 15 for downward vector to pull you down, the playground height is probably around 6ft and the slide looks 10ft and 8ft 2x4 + 2 more feet so the angle is probably 37 ish.
What did you use for slide?

How much did you spend?

It ended up costing around $350-400 all together.
Is the flashing led?

It’s thin enough it doesn’t get hot at all. Been going strong for almost 3 years now and no complaints from any of the kids
