DIY Arcade Stick For $20 Tutorial. DIY Fight Stick
Ойын-сауық
Today we got an awesome DIY Arcade Stick build for only $20. All the electronics I got on amazon here www.amazon.com/dp/B07BN97FN8/... and all the wood I got basically for free at home depot in the spare wood bin in the building materials section. For the whole instead of printing out a paper stencil I 3d printed one and it worked really good for the holes. I will upload the template to thingivers so others can print it asap. The paint I already had but that is 100% cosmetic and you do not even need to do this step or you could stain it use a decal or whatever you want. This fight stick was a whole lot of fun and I think next I am gonna make a really good one with premium parts so if you wanna see a DIY pro arcade stick with sanwa buttons and joystick make sure to let me know in the comments. And low with the Playstation 5 Launch maybe now I will make a playstation 5 fight stick. thats if I can get a ps5. Thanks for watching.

@ResistantPig69 honestly it's kinda hard to have a DIY arcade stick tutorial since it's literally... 1) Get a box 2) drill screw holes for the lever 3) drill 30mm holes for the buttons. 4) wire everything up according to the kit's instructions.
Excellent budget build! I've seen a guy build an arcade stick out of am old DVD player from probably a thrift store and that came out pretty good as well. I've modded quite a few of my fightsticks and have 3 hori pcb and adding those to a case like your build would make nice gifts.
I always wanted a arcade joystick myself. Good idea. Thank you so much for sharing dude.
That looks so cool
That's a beautiful setup, honestly I didn't expect it to be made of wood when first seeing itt. That dip was satisfying af too
that spray paint transition at 2:45 was SO cool that was the snappiest sound I have heard all year
Dude this is such an awesome project
That is cool as hell!
That’s cool just like when we would go to the arcade.
Really cool man. I'm sure diehards would say "you must get sanwa stick & buttons" but for people like me that just want something that'd work, that seems like a pretty good option to try to build this (a fun project) for pretty cheap... Could always upgrade parts to Sanwa later also I wanted. Good video. Hydro dip came out great.

I come from the future to say a worthwhile upgrade to this stick would be replacing the PCB with a Raspberry Pi Pico controller flashed with GP2040-CE. One of those is like $7 if you know where to look, it can play on the Switch/PS3/PC (and there's been headway for PS4 and PS5 compatibility) and it actually has less input latency than Brook's offerings. Of course you gotta solder wires, but hey, it's an option, and there's a bunch of people working together on it to add new features and basically make it cheaper to make good fightsticks
Super cool.
awesome idea with that spray and cartboard with holes
Keep up the good work
Muito perfeito parabéns o arcade ficou lindo 👏👏👏👏
I'll give it a try!
Nice!
Awesome I could put it in other games and consoles

Hey Dylan, I want to replace the joystick in my Pandora's box for an Ikari Warrior style rotating joystick. Do you have a link to someone that has an exact drop in assembly so I can play those types of "move and twist" games? Also can you make a simple video on how to install the 12 way rotary joystick? Thanks man.
Awesome paint job, very cool. I'd consider routing the stick a bit so the shaft is longer, kinda short but it does the job.
So, a couple questions: 1. What type of restrictor gate and buttons did you get? 2. What type of wood did you use?
@cryobrew3589
Жыл бұрын
my guess is that he probably used the same ones the product provided to keep it on a $20 budget so square restrictors. also if the planks are 1 x "n" its usually common pine or douglas fir at home depot
NICE
Nice vid
Turned out pretty nice. Shaft length on the lever looks too short for the control panel thickness. But after shipping, an extended shaft would nearly double the cost of the project 🤣
If I want to wire more buttons, what cable should I buy?
That's really cool. I know what I'm doing with all my extra parts now.
that joystick seems like it's wobbling around there, does it make a difference?
$20 plus whatever the spray paint cost... Lol but got the admit the hydro coating looked awesome 👍. Does it work on regular PC games or just emulators?
can you explain what to do the wires.
What size hole did you make for the joystick?
Would a dongle make it so you could use it on console?
Can I use these components either on xbox one/series and or switch?
i dont have all of the tools that you have. what are some basic tools i need to build a frame/box?
Now I want to do this.... I think I'd buy a pre-built box, though.
@KetsubanSolo
Жыл бұрын
Late response, but if you just want a pre-built box and material doesn't matter, you can get a decently-sized plastic electronics project box on Amazon for like $20 that can accommodate a six button layout (most fighters don't use more than that). I recommend a height around 2.5". This makes Japanese-style levers (what you get in most DIY arcade cabinet kits) a non-issue, but you can also comfortably fit a Korean lever provided the hole for it is 35 mm to accommodate the collar (you can get away with the standard 20mm hole if you go for flat collar). I haven't tried American/European style yet (Industrias Lorenzo), but you may need to get something a little bigger to fit those. To add extra weight, the cheapest option I know of is to go to your local grocery store's customer service desk and ask if you can buy about four rolls of pennies for $2. Just tape them to the bottom of the case with some Gorilla Tape and they'll add some much needed weight so that the case isn't sliding around. Also if you have an old mouse pad lying around, just cut it in half and glue the two halves to the bottom to add some grip.
Please give measurements for the wood parts so we can use them as base
How did you attach the pcb board
Fuck yeah 🤘🤘 I got that hoodie at Punk in the Park in OC a few years ago! Punk Rock Royalty: NOFX. Also, looking to build a couple fight sticks with my son to play SF6.
Sweet!, what type of paint did you put into the water in the bin to create the pattern, and what colours? EDIT, no worries, I had never heard of hydro dipping but a few youtube tuts later I'm going to give it a go, thanks for the heads-up. I would still like to know what type of paint you used, cheers.

How mutch cables did you put in to the joystick i need to know this is my last chance😢
Im doing this FOR SURE for some dragonball fighterz, needed a fightstick at this would be fun to make too. is there soldering required to do it or do you just plug the things in? Edit: i already saw this and started building it within 5 hours, just need the buttons coming in a few days and i can finish it up, im planning on staining the wood too instead of painting it

Then i got some smaller pieces like he has where they were like rectangular and i nailed those into the top piece of wood around the bottom edge. its basically like his but nailed in instead of glued. also id reccomend getting a piece for the bottom but it isnt needed. I don’t know how good the PCB is, I’ve heard it’s pretty good for budget sticks but I’m not sure about the lag. But I will say that the lever and the buttons are not sanwa parts, they’re cheap knockoffs and won’t feel as good and may even be less durable. I’d recommend buying buttons/levers from focusattack or arcadeshock.

@@ferofferd7429 If you play fighting games, depending on how much money you have, the Qanba Drone is $70 right now, it usually goes on sale for this much, it works on PC, ps3, ps4, and it may work on the ps5 since it’s officially licensed but don’t quote me on that. It doesn’t come with good parts, but you can mod the stick to have good parts later on down the line when you feel like it, a Sanwa JLF lever from focusattack is $17 before tax, a balltop is $1.95, and for buttons (30mm), you’ll only need to modify six of them, going left to right, because the buttons that are at the far right don’t get much use anyway, as for pricing it’s ~$14.7 (2.45 each) but focusattack is usually sold out and idk any other places tbh, and I don’t think the ones from amazon listings are real but I’m not completely sure.
so does this work on ps4?
I have a question. Because I’m disabled and have a very limited income. Is the board universal? I cant afford a brook universal pcb and are the buttons screw type or regular

@gustavosanchez5962

Depends on the size buttons you're using, they look like the standard 30 mm size buttons though. Go one size smaller on the drill bit and round it out until the buttons snaps in snug. To big and the buttons will swivel around.
