DIY Animation Machine from Cardboard
In this video I show you how to make a simple animation machine from cardboard. You need 2 rubber bands, cardboard, threaded rod and a few nuts. Also you can draw or print 25 small animation pictures. Add as many levels as you want. This animation machine looks cool and works flawless.

YES!!!! The old kind of video!!! I missed these.
Old school film projectors deliberately had a shutter that would be closed when the frame moves. Otherwise the video would blur in real life. Thanks to Technology Connections for teaching me this.
The idea in the intro is simple and genius! I'm surprised I've never done it!

Zoetrope is what are called this type of animation machines. A zoetrope is one of several pre-film animation devices that produce the illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of drawings or photographs showing progressive phases of that motion.

Phenakistoscope is older and there too, but this machine is closer to the Praxinoscope

you are very much correct. to make it work in person, you would need total darkness and strobe lighting, which can be very dangerous for people who suffer from epilepsy or vertigo.

Exactly, just what I was thinking. It would actually need a shutter opening and closing for every change of frame to deceive the naked eye

Only with correct shutter speed. It would just be a blur to the naked eye.

Thats a VERY low RPM for basically spinning rubber bands but I guess without a Sun gear thats the best your gonna get for this

How's that supposed to work? There's no shutter. It might work when viewed through a video camera if you very specifically changed the settings, which an ordinary phone camera wouldn't do. The sort of professional camera a big KZread camera might use would have that option. This is bullshit. You'd just get a blur. You need either a shutter or a strobe light. Both too complicated to make out of cardboard. Why is it always the popular KZread channels that are full of shit? Incidentally there is something similar to this that DOES work, it's called a "Zoetrope", invented by the Victorians. It uses thin slits instead of a shutter, and is simpler than this, as well as more reliable.
