It is dangerous, there are nowhere near enough fixings in the ceiling. I've seen some very nasty accidents happen when inexperienced trades use the wrong fixings and too few of them. That light box could fall on a child's head.

@matthewbaken7669

I can’t imagine the structure of the new ceiling fixture weighing any more than 20 lbs. It’s only a few short pieces of metal stud, a small panel of Sheetrock, and those plastic connector things. So I think it’s safe to assume that a few drywall wall anchors (the plastic pieces she inserted into the ceiling at the beginning) would hold this up. Most wall anchors hold at least 10 lbs each, and it looks like she used at least 8. My biggest concern is that she had wire just dangling out of the ceiling. Electric wire, unless low voltage, needs to be run into and connected in a rated electrical box. Additionally, a box cannot be hidden behind drywall. An electric box in a wall or ceiling can only sit behind an appliance, such as a light fixture, switch, or receptacle (outlet). If the wire for the lighting is line voltage, this project is both a major national code violation and a fire hazard. However, If it’s only low voltage wire, it should be okay (unless her local building code says different).
