DIY 10k Forward I10 Auto Lift Install

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I picked up this Forward I10 Two Post Auto Lift from Universal Distribution Group in Charlotte North Carolina a little over a month ago and I have been itching to install it. Drop a comment below. Has any one out there installed one of these? How did it go?

    to adjust your lock release, make sure both sides of the lift are on the same set of locks or at the same height, loosen the cable clamp and pull stack out, tighten clamp. raise lift and listen to see if both locks engage at the same time. to adjust the locks you have to adjust the larger cables until they engage at the same time. to remove air from pistons, raise it up off the locks and you will find a bolt at the top of the cylinder, loosen slightly with a rag over it until air is out and then tighten, do this for both sides and be carefully of your eyes and mouth. this might require you to do it several times. if you can place a junction box with a plug or an on off switch encase the motor ever sticks so you have a way to kill the power close by. I have seen way to many of these motors that get stuck on. you might want a spotting dish for the floor, it shows you where the tires of the vehicle need to be

    interested to see how you eventually lay the shop out. i would have put the lift in front of the other door. then you can basically have 2 flat bays and a lift. now. you have one of each.

    The only reason I put the lift there is I plan on a 4 post lift going in the other bay. It's going to be pre full by the time I'm done loading it up with tools

    I used to install lifts, make Sure to check your anchor bolts the first few months for proper torque and then once a year after that. forward is a dover brand, same as rotary lifts, these are great lifts for the money. forward, rotary, and challenger are the best band for the buck, bend pak is crap but they have a great marketing department so thats why you see them everywhere. the switch thats in your hight limit box that the bar rests on is the same as the one on the power unit, so if the one on the power unit goes you can just grab that one in a pinch to let the car down if you need to.

    Awesome! Thank you for the advice from an person with experience. I will check those anchor bolts. I heard that Bend Pac was garbage so I stayed away from them. Couldn't afford the Rotary lift so went with the Forward. Thanks for the comment.

    @@DJsHotRodFab their is a maintanece spec on anchor bolts that is less. I think when I was installing lifts, installation was 110 and maintenance was 90, but not sure if those numbers are correct now, haven't done it since 2011

    You are correct about the Bendpak Lifts. When I was looking for a lift I went to all the shops in my area. Rotary was number one, Forward and Callenger # 2 Every shop owner told me to stay away from Bendpak. There marketing Dept advertises like crazy. I ended up with a used 9k Mowhawk in great condition

    @@greggo502 Mohawk lifts are awesome and indestructible, only one that makes one that compares is out of Germany called stericoni I think is how its spelled. rotary makes forward lifts. you can get parts from SVI international or Mohawk directly. they are a small family owned outfit in NY state

    What are the electrical requirements for this lift? I have to run about 70ft from my panel to the lift. From what I've pieced together so far, a 20amp 220v breaker and 12ga wire. Does it need 12/3 wire, or can I use 12/2?

  • @DJsHotRodFab

    @DJsHotRodFab

    You are correct on the 20amp 220. You can run 12/2 and use the white wire as your second hot wire, but you are supposed to label the wire hot. I used red electrical tape to mark mine.

    Do you mind stating how tall you are? Curious on head clearance and height of truck, plus you said you could raise the truck a few more inches without the cap.

    I'm 5' 10" and if I can lift a vehicle to it's highest point.i have no problem working underneath it. If you have higher ceilings you can get an extension if you have something with a high roof

  • @DJsHotRodFab

    I was afraid it wouldn't be, but it's plenty tall. It all depends on how tall the cab is on the vehicle and I guess the cab isn't that tall on my truck.
