I used to work with a guy who's ex lied about him molesting her daughter. She had a daughter from a previous relationship. He practically raised the girl. Once they started having problems she brainwashed her daughter into saying that he molested her. He got arrested but nobody who actually knows him believes it. The girl recanted, but not until he'd been in jail for almost a year and had lost his car, job, and everything else. He's now in the process of suing her and she got arrested on a few different charges regarding false statements and obstruction of justice. My old coworker is finally getting his life back on track, I'm happy to report. Nice guy, he didn't deserve all of that bullshit.

@Siobhan Fogarty I'm not saying it is. However, yelling is a clear sign of a break down in communication. After roughly thirty minutes into an argument people tend to repeat the same points and just get louder and louder as they get more frustrated. Ergo, a third party telling the other group not to yell is pretty smart. Kinda wish I did the same as a child.

@Siobhan Fogarty I'm sorry but nope, we shouldn't normalize that toxic behaviour (and this is coming from someone whose grandparents had to raise because bio parents yelled at eachother, fought and were generally useless - well, they still are in many ways), just because a lot of people have no emotional intelligence and therefore shitty relationships doesn't mean it's okay for the kids to witness all of their bullshit unfold, even if it's only every now and then. Parents should do better than that.

They cheat once, they'll cheat again. It just shows which one of you values the relationship and which one couldn't care less. They'll apologise, swear it won't happen again, but that's only because they don't want to be the "bad guy" to everyone you know. But they will, and they'll expect you to forgive them again, then get angry and confused when you won't.

While I say this isn't a terrible mantra to live by. As its safer than trying to give too many chances to people who clearly don't deserve it. I think at the end of the day you should use your own judgment, assuming you can keep an objective level head. Not every single person who cheats is vindictive or has a lack of love for the person they are with. People are complex and we make mistakes and have moments of weakness. You could divorce or break up with someone you might have had a long happy life with simply because they made a mistake in a moment of weakness. I am not saying every cheater should be forgiven, but I also think not everyone who cheats should be condemned for it. It comes down to the circumstances and the individual. Humans aren't perfect.

  • @Visplight

    @Visplight

    5 жыл бұрын

@@ImAviex A mistake is forgetting your keys. You don't accidentally create the multiple lies needed to have an affair, nor is it done in a single moment of weakness. It's like saying if he hit you a few times it could be a moment of weakness and you still could have a long happy relationship. Yeah, probably not - and even if they never did it again (they will) the trust is still gone.

Someone who puts so many hours of hard labor into crafting an item for someone else does not seem to be the selfish one. Also that isn't done unless it's made with love or they figure they'd be rewarded (like selling it for profit). What Hugh said. Govt interference had caused the family ranch to fail, grandpa had just died from cancer. Got kicked out of school and my school housing because I made a mistake on my tax forms. (Apparently lucky I didn’t go to jail) basically was a nickel from being homeless. I remember sitting at a gas station not sure if I should go back to my new place to live because I had a dollar to my name (school and govt took everything) I didn’t think I could make it back to work the next day. I was in an incredibly stressed situation and it got to me Basically the daily complaints of me being a failure and how dare I let my life fall apart. How am I going to provide for her in this situation (we had been dating for a while) She presented several arguments for getting married. One was to move in together and save money. Anyways I caved and we did. I had saved up a little and after listening to her insult my father for a few minutes I said I was going to go visit my brother. She said I wasn’t allowed to go see my family “because was under no circumstances allowed to talk to my mother ever again” I faked an argument to get her to run to the bedroom and cry, then while she was doing whatever I packed all my belongings (fit in one suitcase) got in my pickup and left. Saved all of the death threat voicemails I received. (I doubted she would have tried to carry out the details, but I hoped it would help in a nasty divorce) Divorce went quite smoothly. We went to courthouse signed papers, I was in depth compared to Satan, and I walked out Scott free. I didn’t have to pay her a dime (got lucky I suppose) Granted I’m not an innocent in this story... the failed relationship is just as well half my fault. But I moved on and haven’t looked back. Now I live in the town of my dreams and I am well on my way to working for the company I have wanted to for years. I’m genuinely grateful to bed rid of that. None of what I have now would have been possible

She used me, and while I cared enough to do so much for her, I realized she couldn't lift a finger to show she cared about me. I should have known she didn't when she cheated on me, but I was young and naive enough to think I could find happiness in just caring about her. I realized by staying anchored to her I would never know how it felt to have someone who cared about me, so I cut her loose. The final straw was the last time she pretended to be asleep to get out of giving me a hand cleaning the house for about the 5 millionth time. That was the moment I realized just how much I'd done for her, and how she had never willingly done a single thing for me just because she cared.

I asked her to clean the bedroom when she got back. Over a month later, she hadn't even started cleaning and things were getting back to tornado-ville all over the house while I was at work. At this point I was sleeping on the couch because being near her made me angry. Over 3 years of paying her bills and she can't even give the courtesy of tidying up after herself while I work. (She's unemployed) As far as my son knew, I was sleeping on the couch because he could wake me up in the morning and play with me without waking mommy so she could sleep in. Gave me around an hour each morning with my son and without her. I decided to eventually stop taking out the garbage and when she asked "when are you going to take the trash out?" I replied: "When that bedroom gets cleaned" I packed my things and left that day. I get my son every weekend and in the evenings after work so I'm glad I still get plenty of time to see him.

Was in a weird situation back when I was a teen, two of my friends were dating, and while I was messaging the female friend she said that my friend was hitting her. Told her to get the police involved she said she didn't want to, told her to break up with him and she said she didn't want to; I said I'd talk to him about it and she said I couldn't or he'd make it worse. Being the friend on the outside it feels horrible and it really tugs on your heartstrings when someone tells you they're being hurt by a partner and all the logical options to dealing with it get shot down. Kind of makes you keep kicking around your head asking yourself how you can help the person. Little while later, she said she liked me and things heated up from there. Suddenly you've got this person you're worried about and feeling protective of, telling you they're interested in you and it feels like some weird kind of saviour complex love affair going on in your head. We never got to sex but if the opportunity came up I would have done it. Doesn't help that I was very young at the time, I was 17 and impressionable. Nowadays if it came around, I'd like to think I'd be much more firm about telling someone that they involve the police and get out of the relationship, instead of falling into this trap of thinking that I could save a person. Important to note: as the police were never involved, I'm not saying it was certain that she was being abused, nor am I saying that she was lying either. It's Schrodinger's domestic abuse charge essentially. What is certain is that I believed she was being abused at the time. Therefore regardless of whether it's true, I think it's fair to say that if a woman tells you she's being treated badly by your friend and then expresses an interest in you or invites your interest, it's possible that you'll cheat with her if the circumstances and your mindset are a particular way.

Well, if they agreed on being fully seperated, then yeah, they were on a break. If they agreed to live seperately to figure things out, they were not. Girls in general take the term "seperate" more into the direction as "I can fuck whoever I want without consequences". I even remember an old story on reddit about a guy and a girl who were together for 7 years, but decided to have some alone time for 2 months to figure out their lives. The other girl took it as being able to sleep around and ended up having 25 different guys in 2 months time. She then was shocked that the guy didnt want to continue their relationship, so as a counter offer, the guy offered to be able to sleep with 10 random girls whenever he was in a position to do so, as she didnt act through their agreement. She called him selfish and broke up after that. I know cheating isnt based on gender, but its very clear that when the relationship isnt serious, the guys tend to cheat where if the relationship is serious, the girls tend to cheat. Neither of them is right, but I generally feel that if a relationship isnt exactly serious for prolonged time, the partner might look for something more serious being a bit more logical(be it guy or girl).

@@thetute59 Well, I started with the "if they agreed", which is why the first part was ofcouse speculation. The rest of the comment was basically giving another example and as far as my knowledge goes, why girls generally seem to be less loyal in serious relationships and guys generally seem to be less loyal in less serious relationships. And yeah, communication is key to any relationship, but to be fair, if they didnt make a certain thing clear what is and isnt allowed, the other party should always inform if they could. Having sex or even making out with someone else while seperated is something that should be important enough to mention before actually doing it. I mean, making out can happen as soon as there is a click, ofcourse, but having sex most oftenly requires a secluded area already. Which only spontaeneously happens if you are already alone with someone in a room, but at that point you already know your feelings and should discuss it first.

I take a large part of ownership for my marriage failing, but not all of it. Things like "Hey, we'll talk about this after folks who were vising / staying with us leave", then after company left, I asked her if we could talk about the issue now "What, that is in the past. That was like 4 days ago..." F me. Or she would become an interrogator. I kid you not, the simplest of mundane tasks where bombarded with questions - I had to justify EVERYTHING: "Why did you go into the bathroom?" "Um, because I had to take a dump." The final straw was we were eating out, and I asked her to pass the salt. "Why?" Now mind you, she didnt make the food, didnt know anyone who did, it wasnt salty... she literally questioned EVERY frigging thing. I finally had had it, and I said: "Oh, its really neat, hon,. I read in my men's health magazine, that if you put a salt shaker up your butthole, you could.... BECAUSE I WANT TO PUT SALT ON MY FOOD YOU F'ING BITCH. WHY THE HELL ELSE WOULD I ASK FOR THE SALT!!!!" I mean, I could see, if it was in the middle of the day, and I came barging in the door, sweating profusely, covered in blood, and Im gripping my arm and I yell "Honey, Quick! Wheres the salt?!?!"" THEN I can see her questioning that. But if youre at a table with your spouse eating, and they ask you to pass the salt, common sense should prevail there. Asked for a divorce (surprisingly, THAT didnt produce a million questions like the salt shaker did lol) and things have been phenomenal. Im the happiest Ive ever been, and she actually is super nice to me. We split with our stuff (she made WAY more money than me, and we didnt have any kids so it was simply a walk away with what we came with). I feel bad cause my friends are dealing with horrible ex'es, and my ex wife is like the best... wife ever LOL. Its a shame we had to divorce for her to become an awesome wife LOL!

I was pretty bad at staying on top of communication, and I had problems with motivation from a combination of mental issues. Point being, she wasn't entirely at fault. However, she certainly didn't help matters. She would accuse me of treating her like she was my mom, even though in many cases I was taking care of her responsibilities for her. She would get snippy and passive aggressive when my mental issues rear'd their ugly heads (turned out later I had been depressed for like a decade). However, the straw for me was after we'd been struggling for a while. I at one point heard a song on the radio by her favorite artist and texted her to say it'd reminded me of her. She snapped back that I should know who her favorite artist is. That wasn't the straw itself, but it heavily informed it. A few months later, during the holidays, I emailed her (I was away at college) to ask her about availability so we could talk, like we both wanted to, about our relationship and to try and fix things because we both still loved each other (I think I was in denial at that point). I asked how I could best accommodate her schedule while still appeasing my boss who expected me back early to set up for the new semester. I kid you not, she actually had the audacity to accuse me of not listening to her when I directly referenced her earlier communications which stated clearly that she'd be available on the date in question. She would not be available. On top of which, she then accused me of trying to sound inconsiderate. She'd been emotionally abusive and manipulative in the past, but it was at that very moment, when I was most hoping to reconcile and heal things, that the whole "lie" fell apart. I was enraged, and I wrote the angriest thing I have ever said in my entire life. I never sent it. Instead, I sent it, and all our correspondence for over half a year to my god mother who was a lawyer. Another lawyer had papers written up a month later. I never spoke to her after that email, and I still haven't, though I did try once to just see how she was doing. She had her friend cut me off entirely after passing a biting remark through them. I stopped missing her after that.

This was something that happened to some other people in my local area years ago. The woman in the relationship (not sure if they were married or just shacked up together) went and murdered a guy and left something of her boyfriend's/husband's at the crime scene. I think it might have been his wallet. What she didn't realize was that the guy she was trying to frame was in jail the whole time for a relatively minor offense. I think she basically convicted herself by calling the cops on him claiming she thought maybe her guy was going to murder some other guy and making that phone call before the body had been discovered.

What's more disgusting is that he had a job opportunity offered to him that was a no-brainer but he declined because of the child. He left then and there, cut all contacts with her. I'm friends with her sister and from what I know to this day this b-word is convinced that my friend was an a-hole for leaving. Once they're old enough to be going out on their own, contact them directly to try to get to see them. Invite them to pizza or a fair. And if they invite you somewhere, especially to a school or sporting event, jump through every hoop in your way to be there, even for just a minute. And if they ask what happened between you and your ex, don't lie or cover it up. I don't care how young and innocent they seem- they want the truth. They deserve the truth. And they're far less likely to believe their mother is a good person if they hear your perspective.

Lots of awful stories here, and I feel for all the guys and kids involved. Mine was kind of similar to some of the stories in the video because it wasn't a really huge thing, but it was the final straw that pushed me over the edge. Things had not been good between us for several years, pretty much since the day I said I wanted to pursue financial independence instead of pissing away money on stupid stuff. "We" made great progress, even paid off the mortgage, but "she" kept running up bills behind my back. The final straw was when she lost her job, six months before she would have been vested in a pension plan. It's important to note that she lost her job for failing to meet the same goal over and over and over. She had been orally admonished, reprimanded, suspended, suspended again, and finally fired over the course of about five years. To me, that was a clear sign that she did not understand the basic connection between actions and consequences, and her problems were much deeper than not being good at handling money. I told her that she had a right to duck up her own life, but I had the equal right to refuse to go with her.

Let’s not forget alimony, child support, no fault divorce, the fact that a woman who worked for nothing can make off with most of your shit when she’s the one who initiated the divorce after committing infidelity. Bias in courts, the system is rigged to benefit women at the expense of men. A woman cheats because she has everything to gain. Does ANY of this apply to men? Lol No. no it does not and to claim that it’s the same if you just reverse it is both intellectually dishonest and plain delusional. But of course those who have everything in their favor refuse to admit that’s the case... that’s very, very typical of women in particular.

2:37 happens with most marriages at some point. If you learn to work through those times things always turn up better then they were before. My wife and I have gone through it. A few times at that. But we've always promised each other that we'd never give up and home life is sooo good. It takes years of compromise and communication if you want your soul mate. It rarely happens on a whim. I'm 32. My wife and I dated in high school, split around college, got back together after a chance meeting a few years later. In all honesty, some of these people should have known better. Love makes you blind, etc. But never forgive a cheater. It's not even the fact they had sex with someone else; the betrayal of trust. That can just never be healed. Also, these solidify my belief to never get married. Too much paperwork going in; too much emotional pain going out.

I like hearing the guy side of relationships in these posts lately. I don't feel like this gets enough light. Tbh I'm not really interested in hearing the other side, though i know both are laced heavily with animosity. I just feel like i overheard so many things about the wife, or girlfriend that just keeps going on. I don't need to see the same side every day. Edit: I think that this statement will also represent what is being seen in this post, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of communication in many of these posts. Sometimes people have different languages that they show love, and it misses people without them knowing. I'm sure there is a lot more in these situations, but if this helps anyone still in a current struggle, i wish the best. Communication is huge.

@@freppie_ You need to understand that these "small reasons" do not happen on their own, they are the last straw after what is often years of small thing after small thing that build up to become a big thing. I saw it happen with my dad and step-mum. And it's not always small things either, but it just takes that last little bit to break everything.

There are definitely those who end a relationship for something not worthy of the reaction. It is not typically not fair to the other party. I believe it should be a moral obligation to at least notify your partner. For a lot of these, if not all, it was a realization that something HAS been going on. The people had it in their thoughts prior to the break up. This was just the cap placed on the top that ended up being the final push, after trying previously in the relationship. I'm not saying what was done was right, as i always feel there could be a better alternative, but it's just the final thing. Not everything leading up to it. :)

I am a big believer of calling a suicide hotline, because if it's manipulation but the person is so emotionally ill-equipped and are legitimately suicidal then they get a chance to get help and through that help you can make a clean break, but if they aren't legitimately suicidal then they learn real quick that you're a person that won't stand for being bs'ed.

Not married but my ex girlfriend and I were engaged. We had a great dating period and the best first date I ever had. After a quick proposal that wasn’t planned (arcade plastic ring and all) all she wanted was a ring. We couldn’t see each other for a few days because distance but every time I was with her she begged for a diamond ring. I was not financially set but I tried my best to save money for it. Then after deciding to move 8 hours away (after getting engaged) and still begging for a ring I had to end it. Afterwards she accused me of cheating with another ex, raping her, and vocally assaulting her. Obviously not true at all but she almost took it to the police.

When I came to the realisation that she only wanted me so she could have kids and never work again. I was a means to an end. She was going to college to get a masters degree in whatever the hell, and had no plans to use it. I, on the other hand, was former military with a high school diploma and not much more... She expected me to work my 12 hour shift job that I had at the time, and get a college degree at the same time, so that I could eventually get a job that made at least 6 figures to support her and eventually two or more kids. She said if I didn't eventually get a job that paid 6 figures, that she was going to leave me anyway. So, I eventually said fuck you and get out. There's so much more... But I'm sure no one wants to read about 800 pages on KZread lol.
