One of the best things Jaleisha can do for Napoleon to improve his health is to offer to improve hers as well. Go to the gym together, develop a healthy eating plan together, walk together - when I start to get a little round in the middle, walking does amazing things for me. "Let's both lose 50 pounds!" That simple a goal can actually make it work, they'll both be trimmer and healthier, and that will eliminate half the problems they brought up today.

People are so small minded smh.. Why is there an issue with her bring concerned with his health? He was hospitalized with health issues and have diabetes on top of that. To the ignorant people making negative comments, she never mentioned his weight. Despite what you may think, being healthy has nothing to do with being skinny. It's not a small-minded thing. He's smoking against the doctor's advice. Obesity causes high blood pressure, type2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke plus many many more disease processes. Smoking on top of those things raises the risks exponentially. He's already got type 2 diabetes which is DIRECTLY related to obesity. The African American community is at higher risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and stroke than Caucasians. He's already on the slippery slope. His significant other is only slightly less at risk but only because she's female so a tiny bit less risk b/c of being female. With her weight she's probably already pre-diabetic and as she gets older she will almost 100% develop type 2 weight related diabetes. They should both get serious about their health and work on diet and exercise TOGETHER. Join the gym together and go both together and apart. Go for walks together. Alter your diet together and support him to stop smoking.

One of the recommendations Drs would have made would be to exercise if he's not already, to stop smoking, and to eat better. Losing weight isn't the purpose because being skinny doesn't make you healthy, but being fit does improve your health. Losing at least water weight initially is often a consequence of exercising, but I don't think he should have a goal weight or start counting calories. That doesn't really work for people. I hope his health is better now and their relationship has been successful. They're such a mature, loving couple.

She doesn't need to ease up when it comes to diabetes! it's nothing to play with, i know first hand cause I didn't take care of myself when I was younger and now I have tons of complications. 😢

😔so much negativity in these comments ...I'm sure they can see themselves in the mirror and know where their health flaws lie. How about a bit of positivity...both working legitimate jobs and not RAPPING. They are able to communicate in an intellectual level without the, "you know" or "Um" or "I'm saying". They are a "normal" couple attempting to make their relationship work. I hope they make it and have a successful marriage.

She is right about the cigarettes. My fiance's father had a severe heart attack about ten years ago (I don't know exactly how long ago) and when he did the doctors told him he HAD to stop smoking or he would have another one which could end his life. My father in law stopped smoking up until about a year and a half ago....six months after he started smoking again he had a massive heart attack and died in his sleep. My fiance was the last person to talk to his father that night before he passed at the age of 54.

he is scared. He is a diabetic, the pills make him impotent. He cannot have sex anymore until he brings his sugar down. They need to get counselling. He is fearful and he is afraid to tell her. This is why he does not take his pills. The side effects are harsh. I wish them well

She is kind of mature for her age and a pretty lady. I think she wants him to deal with her emotionally and he is not able to do it to her liking. I agree weight loss would be a plus for both of them, no harm meant. I hope they make it though.

If she truly loves him, which it seems she does, she should make lifestyle changes with him (exercise, eat better,etc) but that depends on if she feels she needs to make lifestyle changes. It will motivate him more and improve their health/weight as a couple. If she doesn't feel she needs to make lifestyle changes for herself as well then it won't be a genuine team effort from her end.

My mother has diabetes and started smoking again. She had a stroke. Doctor told her if she didn't stop she'd be paralyzed and in a wheelchair. Take the doctors serious. I want to help my mom but it's her choice.

When he hits one of those blinding episodes..he’ll start taking his diabetes seriously. When the doctor tells him they need to amputate, or that he is infertile.. he’ll get it. Yes! Diabetes can and does effect fertility! Eye sight! Joint pain! Can cause Polyps and tumors to grow, as they feed off excess glucose. Then you add someone that smokes..

I honestly think if she started over hauling the food to healthy choices, taking daily walks/jogs, or did 30min gym sessions, and started her own health journey, he would start to join her. Sometimes there’s a little jealousy like “I’m not that much bigger but I’m sick and they’re not! Why do I have to change and they don’t” so she could start without him and mind trick him into doing right by doing for herself. Not at all saying she “needs” it because she’s a fuller figure woman, just that he really doesn’t like being told and he’s struggling to adjust. I could only imagine. So sometimes you gotta show people it’s not so bad, I’m here with you and we can do this!

I think it's silly that he doesn't want to sleep with his wife simply because of the clothes she has on. I know my husband is ready to go whenever and wherever regardless of if he's worked that day. I could have on a holely ripped up tshirt and sweatpants and my husband wants me just as much as if I had on some victoria secret lol. It all ends up on the floor anyway ;D

If you can speak, you can act. Make him a healthy breakfast, bring his meds and it monitor. Do it again for lunch and dinner. Ask him to walk with you. Find something physical you "need help" with regularly. Help him build the habit with action not nagging.

In regards to the diabetes, my brother is the exact same way, eating wrong, drinking a whole bunch of water to dilute it and thinks the insulin will save it. My whole family has been on him about it but I realize he’s gotta experience the worst for him to change
