Fascinating to see this. I expected to see more recognizable structure. Amazing that it's almost completely absorbed back into nature, overgrown and teeming with life.

The car is believed to be in Commencement Bay or in the bay in Olympia. The current, through the Narrows, is very quick and pushed that car into a very deep body of water that no one has ever found.

0:26 A portion of the old bridge is still accessible by land about two thirds of a mile south of the eastern end of the modern bridge. A dive there should yield some excellent footage.

Thanks. I always wondered what it looked like down there. The say the biggest octopus in the world live down there amount the twisted ruins of Galloping Gertie.

@@dapper98374 A very dangerous current. Divers have died there. Also it is the only place they Giant Pacific Octopus lives.

From a Washington state government website (Tubby being the dog within, the only casualty): "The exact location of Coatsworth's car (with Tubby's remains) is a mystery. The water depth near the East Pier where Coatsworth's car landed is about 125 feet. But, the swift tides of the Narrows quickly moved the car away from Galloping Gertie's ruins."

Patrick Y the dogs remains would probably be long gone being under water for so many years unfortunately. Poor thing, I hope it happened quickly because of the impact and that he did not drown.

So how deep do the remains of the collapsed bridge lie in the water? Has anyone found the car that was on it when it fell? Love the music, btw.
