Great to see Cloughy honoured in this way. He was really active when I was diving out of Townsville 23 years ago. Top bloke. Awesome to see the Mackay Club still doing it. Great work mate.

Thanks for checking the vid out mate. It's just an Airmar p79 inhull. It reads solid bottom so far up to 50mtrs at 30knots. I haven’t been any deeper than that yet, I’m hoping it will read well up to the 70-80mtr mark at speed and that will do me for the Mackay area. I’m also considering installing the 3in1 transducer that comes with the HDS to take advantage of the side scan 🤔

Hey Kurt, 30 knots reading bottom is fantastic. Gotta be pretty happy with that. Yeah I've seen some people running sidescan at reasonable speed looking for ground when travelling between spots. Definitely worth installing. I just picked up a hds today for wuen the new tub shows up. I'll be running the 3 in 1 and a TM185M.

There is a lot of Clubs here mate. The Mackay club is one of the biggest if not the biggest Australian Underwater Federation (AUF) spearfishing club! As well as one of the oldest operating since 1955. It would really be a lifestyle over there mate. Thanks for checking the vids out. Catch ya in the new year 🍻

Hey mate, both spots were around the 20-25mtr mark. So around 15-20 for the small mouth. They were sitting up higher like they normally do.

How do you get your mask to seal on your mo?

I sometimes chuck a little Vasoline on it to help seal. Lately I’ve just been using my battery trimmer and taking a couple millimeters off under my nose and it’s been sealing pretty well. It’s a Rob Allen snapper mask, I’ve got a couple of them that are getting a bit scratched up so I’ll be upgrading soon. I may try a different brand and see if I can get an even better seal.
