DIVERSIFY Your Food Plots For ALL Wildlife!!

Ойын-сауық

One of the first things that comes to mind when trying to improve a recreational property is food plots. Food plots are great, and we encourage them - but, does planting a few acres of food plots on your property maximize the benefits for deer turkey and other wildlife? Matt Dye and Adam Keith of Land & Legacy discuss a strategy they are implementing on Adams home farm in southern Missouri and the added benefits for all wildlife species.

Interesting topic. I've been thinking a lot over the last year about how to make improvements to my property that will benefit deer while also being beneficial to turkey. I like turkey hunting even more than deer hunting and the population in my area is half of what it used to be. I have worried about implementing habitat improvements for deer that harm the turkeys or decrease their use of my land. I would really like to see future videos on this topic, as well as follow-up videos on this plot to see exactly how they implement the diversity and what it ends up looking like.

We have been trying to do a prescribed fire this week with little success and was hoping you could help. Trying to burn open hardwoods and our fires only seem to spread about 10 ft before fizzling out. It hasn't rained in over a week and even the stuff that does burn, only burns the top layer and not all the way to the dirt. Not sure what we are doing wrong. Thanks for any help!

So you could just let it all grow in naturally and put switch along the boarder.

Not necessarily. This area was poor timber for a lot of years and corral berry understory, our fear is the native response would be poor at best in this specific location
