I wanna do this so badly. But the truth is what’s stopped me is the fear of the ocean itself, the fact that so many things can go wrong in such an uncontrolled environment. But I also wanna let nurse sharks and tiger sharks, and lemon sharks, and Caribbean reef sharks, and blue sharks, and thresher sharks, and basking sharks. Soooo I have a dilemma here, either I forget doing it or I conquer my fear of deep water.

@@Cashwisdom94 Go shallow, with friends you trust and follow the rules. Then work up. If you get your own equipment, and get used to it you won't worry so much, And pay Dive Master to escort you. Do it, it is worth it. You will feel and be safe

What ever is a doggo?

I was dive program coordinator at an aquarium so was in all the big exhibits weekly, sometimes several times a day. In the Caribbean exhibit I started scratching the rays backs and they absolutely loved it! They’d settle on the acrylic tunnel to get their turn, with some of them coming back a few times. Two would follow me around the exhibit hoping for more attention.

There was a nurse shark in the Bahamas I ran into that was just like this. We sat and fed it for like half an hour and just played with it. It was hanging out with the sea Turtles

I would love to meet Relentless and dive with Jim. I've always wanted to be a Marine Biologist and a shark researcher, so interacting with a shark would be an amazing experience.

Nurse sharks are the bestest of sharks

Imagine, petting a shark, underwater, with thick rough gloves on 😅 I wonder what that experience is like for Relentless given that she clearly LOVES it 🤔 But I do love how her BF is over there like, "This guy better stop getting handsy with my girl or else..."

Sharks have skin that has the texture of rough sandpaper. Compared to that the glove probably feels pretty smooth and soft.

@@ICU1337 It is also something that is a pretty unique behaviour. Most other animals don't give pets to other animals. Occasionally some primates can do so, but rarely in the wild.

This is how ecotourism should be: they aren't feeding the sharks, so they aren't reliant on them, they've just formed a friendship

@NOT Today - These are Nurse Sharks, and they are harmless to humans. They are bottom feeders that eat mostly crustacians. Nurse sharks have two whiskers than feel the bottom for food. Their teeth are mainly used to crush shell fish.

Yes, nurse sharks are known as one of the more docile species of sharks, although they have bitten people, and they can get excited during a feeding frenzy like any other species of shark. However, since they are commonly found in warm tropical, shallow waters, which are the same kind of waters that people frequent, they interact more with humans than other sharks. And in certain areas, you can actually walk amongst hundreds of nurse sharks, who have become accustomed to humans. But do not let it fool you. It is still very dangerous.

I've seen some amazing shark video's lately but this just tops the lot. These creatures are obviously highly intelligent and have advanced sense of emotion in that they respond to affection in much the same way a dog might do. I love that they've gathered around the divers instead of hunting, and the divers don't have food to coax them over, meaning they see the divers and drop everything because "pets!"

That's pretty amazing. Nurse sharks like to wade on the bottom of shallow waters. They are generally mild mannered and aren't aggressive however people who have accidentally stepped on them have gotten bitten.

I was raised to believe that sharks were mindless killing machines. This video says otherwise.

Brings teardrops.... I have the same relationship with the wild raptors. They are playful and affectionate.

I teared up when Jim said "He Loved her" One of the sweetest and most diffferent videos I have seen in a long time.

Even though I have seen a video on a different channel of this relationship between the diver and Relentless, it is heartwarming to see it again on this channel. Thank you for uploading and sharing. The biggest issue with sharks is that due to only having fins, they can't really investigate things in ways other than nibbling them, and because they're predators, those nibbles can end up being fatal to humans. A lot of the time, "shark attacks" are accidental.

Empathy, respect, and affection goes a long way with almost any species 🥰

There are several species of sharks that are harmless to humans. And of those, there are several that are actually friendly to, or even playful with, humans (as dolphins usually are). The Nurse Shark is at the top of that list. Other examples are the Whale Shark (the biggest species of shark), and believe it or not, the Hammerhead.
