Unreal decision to eratta vs ban. Poor precedent moving forward and it suggests a lack of general competency. I do appreciate the idea that disney denied to ban and RB was forced to do this objectively poor decision by di$ney

Just won my Ursula today with Amber/Ruby Mufasa (different list though)! Came third, so no mat, but still happy with that! 😂 Although fed up facing E/S each week.

You made a good point about Bucky. Disney still has control over their IP and probably ultimately made the call to errata Bucky beyond all recognition rather than ban it from organized play. While a ban makes sense for other TCGs, Disney has other vested interests in this game and can be very particular how these get accomplished. 29:38

If this is true, then it's absolutely horrible for competitive play moving forward. Ravensburger will have their hands tied just like Wizards does with Hasbro.

I feel like I'm in the minority. But I think they did the right thing to Bucky. Even with the nerfs there could be future synergies where he becomes somewhat playable again.

As a player who plays the E/S Bucky discard deck, yes I was surprised that it wasn’t banned. But the way it was explained in this video I understand why it was done and I’m not as bothered by the action anymore. “It made the game unfun” was the line that got to me. A game is supposed to be fun and inviting.

the sheriff was my tool against bucky diablo combo. Recruit diablo, bucky makes me discard. I discard? ok sheriff does 1 dmg to diablo, snuffing it! Bon boyage!

I don’t think it’s because the power of R/A. I think it’s because it is a very versatile deck and also it is super cheap in comparison to some other options. Like castle is the most expensive card at like $12? It’s also a great deck for anyone new to game to learn

I play amber emerald. I fixed the problems with the deck and took a top 4 yesterday at gamers guild in AZ. 29 players though so won't show up in your 30 players search.

Would be nice if RB gave some love to Amber and alternative color combinations. All they do is boost Ruby Amethyst, Set 5 looks to be the same.

With bucky dead, maybe Lemon Lime discard could get a little love because alot of the discard is action based or quest based, which is far more fair than uninteractive play based. A SHIFT DAisy would be amazing, Green/yellow daisy shift 6 with some kind of Liliana style effect from MTG would be sick

I think they kept Bucky, because they have more coming cares which can still work with bucky in the new playset

I played Justin in Round 3 running R//Saph , we were both 2-0, I was in good shape but some how i screwed up how i wanted to do my turn 3, ink Brawl, play fishbone. Was in good shape if i did, yet some how i went IB-Brawl on smee for no reason and went behind. And game 2 putting tamatoa down to bottom for develop brain . No idea, game was pretty even otherwise or could have been in my favour but some how Match 3 onwards the tournament seem to get away from me. Was enough for the Rapunzel but was a shoe-in for top 64 or 32 for sure, 5-2-2- coulda been a lock. Say la Vie. Loved Morales tho he is a really nice lad enjoyed talking to him. JUSTIN WAS 4-4 , it was so cut throat, he had to win round 9 or he was out on 43, but he clinched it, so was real chuffed for him. ruby sapphire is pretty trash this set, especially in a Best of 2 format. several Games i lost were just pure luck for the most part, But you could maybe say some of them I won were also, some games you deviate and it makes you just super ahead, but some times you deviate and you end up super dead. You have to pick a lane from about turn 2-3, otherwise your whole R-S setup just ends up giga behind. Mirror - Dime first wins. Flav/OJA first wins. R/A you go first you avoid a round of pings off flynn, so you end up in good shape. They go first you best hope you win before turn 10 or so. List I ran was the standard fluff with 4 How far i go.

Oh , Set champs, i got 2nd with R/A locations, with Magic Carpet, Jim and RLS LEgacy ! OH you should maybe put hyper Aggro into a set champs rogue thing, since a 30 player event got won out by Hyper aggro AMBER-SAPPHIRE !!! Caterpillars, 4cost prince charming , hero package with annas, was really nice !!

For me as a Magic player, i think RA and BS/RS are the best decks by far, if u manage it well.. but most of people in lorcana never plays a tcg before and control its more hard to learn than midrange, RA is the most difficult deck to play i think cause u have too more lines

I would agree RA is the least forgiving deck in the format right now. If you mess up, it’s incredibly difficult to recover.

Did I really say that? I’m stating an actual fact here, RB cant change the cards or remove them without permission. It’s the same for every single card in the game waiting to be approved for set etc. Disney has full control of Lorcana when it comes to characters.

I left Magic because of corporate overreach from Hasbro. I question if Bucky would have been dealt with at all if he were a pack selling Legendary.

I usually think you are very on point with all calls and analysis, but this time I'll have to disagree with the Bucky errata analysis. I believe errata should be a last resort always as it confuses new players and casual players, and it should never be to basically create a whole new card. I don't know how much of a hold does the mouse have over RB, but I don't think they care enough about meta and if a card is banned or not as to have affected the decision. This also sets a bad precedent for more errata in the future making it hard to keep track of changes. I play Bucky and I agree the card needed to get banned/limited, but it was not the play experience per se, but the power level of the card. You don't want to outright kill a play pattern, but rather balance it with the rest. The fact that Bucky decks could consistently discard you a 1-2 cards a turn starting from turn 2 is what made the experience miserable. The triple errata was definitely overkill. If you lower Bucky's power level with either of the 3 options (Squeak change being the most useful) it would have dramatically lowered the consistency of discard allowing opposing players to catch up through various different means leaving the discard strategy as a viable option, but not an oppressing one. Bucky was there since set 2, and picked up play on set 3, but it was never an issue and there was no outcry, because the discard was simply not consistent enough. At 3 cost, the double Bucky line is a lot worse and so is Robin, Pegasus. Without ward there are so many options to banish it before it discards more than 1-2 cards. If we make it so that unshifted characters don't proc it alone, it would affect Flynn, Aladdin, Beast and Tinkerbell plus all the other times you just played Diablo or Robin unshifted, removing a ton of discard opportunity. The fact that you consider the Amber/Emerald a fun option to play, goes into how fun the experience of playing Bucky could have been for the players. If they wanted people to still kinda consider playing Bucky some times, 1 of the 3 options was likely enough.

Shadow Finder is an ink less expensive than Shadow, and can immediately deal with a Diablo.

He is played because RA only can remove him with brawl, so he is super good in the mirror. He also destroys diablo on Turn which is better!

That isn't necessary. What they do need to do is to not have discard be so easily abused. Card games benefit from discard, especially targeted discard like Ursula - Deceiver and Bare Necessities. Discard in general can help to force a stalled game to move along, as keeping the cards in your hand is actually a bad move now. That said, discard as a heavily supported archetype is a horrible idea. Bucky played into that very well. Diablo pushed Bucky over the edge of being problematic to broken. The Bucky discard player could build to their board, while still forcing discards. It would be no different than a card that allowed you to banish a character or Ink evey time that you played a character or Ink of your own. In all cases, you're pushing towards a win, while denying your opponent, all for doing something that you want to do to begin with.

Just no. Every TCG thinks discard needs to go , but removing archetypes is just never the way to go.

Sucks that this TCG is so damn expensive :( I would’ve loved to play it but it’s not worth spending so much money on it.
