I did a paper on Heaven's Gate for my final assignment in Religion 101 last semester. I found it morbidly ironic that the Hale-Bopp comet they were focused on left Earth's orbit, never to be seen again, in the same year of the mass suicide. Guess their spaceship _did_ come for them after all.

I live in France and had an encounter with members from the Raelian Movement. They were giving out free hugs and since my friend was a little bit depressed at the time, she hugged them. I went to the G20 in 2009 to walk around and check out what was going on and take oictures. They had a march and I stood off to the side. A bunch of people handed me and my ex flyers, which we looked at when we got home. Some of them were for cults. I don't remember the details now and don't have the flyers anymore, but it was very weird.

A movie director friend of mine said he was approached countless times to join NXIVM. He mentioned you couldnt say anything bad about it because everyone was in it. It was a very popular group with those in the movie industry in the pacific northwest. He had also worked with Mack on a number of projects but it was before she joined and so it was a complete shock to see how far she had fallen when this all came to light. r

I had a friend that joined Xenos a few years back. It was crazy seeing just how quickly his entire mindset shifted into being hyper focused on his religion

What disturbed me the most was the part that covered rent being so unaffordable and dysfunctional nowadays.. How can our country keep functioning like this? It's not possible for everyone to be financially well off. It shouldn't be a requirement where you need to be well off in order to live life at it's most basic level.. it's so absurd how things have gotten. I miss the 90's. I wish we could blend aspects of the old and the new.

Smartest guy involved with the Heaven's Gate was the guy that bought the property, after team nike left the building. He demolished the home, subdivided the lot, built four homes and made a bundle. It is a very wealthy area.

ive been trying to find a video that shortly sums up a lot of these topics cause i didnt feel like watching a whole bunch of 2 hour long videos. great vid, earned my sub.

i honestly appreciate the warning segments at the start of every video, because like, even if i really like a creator there are just some things i cant stomach (ex. p**ophilia), so i appreciate dantavius being one of the few people who put warnings in their videos

I am glad you mentioned FaLunGong, I was so terrified at the time as a child, a school mate was brainwashed into murdering her own parent, they were "devote" members, however not devoted enough to donate all their properties, and the girls was told to kill both of parents so she can live with them. There are also rumors in school that they are also kidnapping children. Everyone in my town was shaken.

You know I was thinking this morning how I haven't seen a new Dantavius video in at least 3-4 business days and now here we are. That is some good mind reading

I know several people who were in Xenos, and I myself attended many of their events. They are fairly normal to outsiders, but the cult alarms start going off loudly when they force members to become reliant on them for everything and then force members to abandon their outside friends and families who weren't a 'good influence' on them - which means basically anyone who has or has had premarital relations or other various 'impure things', or people who just don't like Xenos. Luckily all of the friends I knew in the cult left it shortly after college, but some of them were REALLY into it until it started negatively impacting them personally.

This is one of the best and well researched take down of cults I have ever watched. Your delivery was refreshing in the midst of this horrible topic. Consider me a fan.

I have terrible news for you: the Orthodox and Catholic churches are no better. The fact that you identified yourself as an ‘orthodox’ instead of just a Christian means you are part of a cult that puts their made-up bullshit before Christ. And you fell for it while wagging your finger at others for the same. Either read the scripture and know Christ for yourself as your first identity or know that you’re just a part of a Heavens Gate predecessor organization.

I believed all the nonsense that comes with it. I also believed that whenever someone said anything against my make belief views that they were persecuting me. It's an awful system to be a part of.

The way Dantavius is able to effortlessly move between being sarcastic and funny and being genuinely somber and solemn just increases my respect for him that much more.

I like your take on these types of videos.. I have always been into true crime. They're always taken very seriously. I feel like you brought a good mix respect and seriousness to the story and while meshing your personality to it so it did keep it a little more light. I've heard the story before but you had definitely a fresh take on it.😊

In my opinion going to programs makes it harder to stay clean because you stay surrounded by addicts and your life continues to revolve around drugs. The only difference is you obsess over not using drugs as opposed to obsessing over using them... different things work for different people!
