Once the full release is in streaming services, you can choose to leave the single, or remove it and only have the album version available. I get that the preview start time clip can be chosen by the artist, however, how long does that preview clip go for on Tiktok, iTunes, etc? Does it start from that time and go till the end of the song or is there a specific time frame? Is that time frame different for different places?

You can select where in the song the preview is and I believe the store determines the length of the preview. You just get it to start where you want.

TikTok previews are for up to 1 minute, and iTunes previews are 15 or 30 seconds

It is fine to already have a KZread channel. They don't post to your channel they post to a Topic channel.

Great video Shaun , can you make a part 2 when you show for example let's say the artist has uploaded the first singles with the method you showed and now he wants to upload the album that contains the singles too , how it is done so that the songs can be on the single artwork (area) and album artwork (area) at the same time? Hi, If I am using the musician plan and upload my music to distrokid, will it tell you once the song is on streaming platforms? (eg through an email) or do you just have to keep a lookout and find when it's been released yourself? And, how long can it take for a debut single to be released onto all major platforms? Yeah they send emails to me whenever it is live on the stores. This is what they expect wait times to be. iTunes/Apple Music: 1-7 days or sooner. Often same-day. A small percentage of albums go through manual review at Apple, which takes an additional 16 business days. Spotify: Up to 5 days Amazon: 2-4 days Pandora: 1-2 weeks (curated, though) Deezer: 1-2 weeks

I have a video breaking down royalties that will help but to answer your questions if you use a distributor like Tunecore or DistroKid and BMI or ASCAP then you are collecting some of the money earned from streaming and downloads. Songtrust is a admin publisher and they collect publishing for you. Sound Exchange collects non interactive streaming royalties kzread.info/dash/bejne/c6h7t8moc8WWe6w.html You can only collect from ACAP OR BMI not both because they both collect the same royalties.

They recommend uploading 4 weeks in advanced to go live on a specific day. But they have info on their FAQ section if you want to check it out.

My question is, what if you don't have a Spotify, Apple Music, Itunes account and so on before you sign up for DistroKid, does DistroKid makes those accounts for you when you sign up for DistroKid and if so are you able to customize them (put the photo you want in, write what you like)?

Thanks so much for this! I got a 'policy expired' error on the artwork. Two things, I used the bokeh effect on the photo, so the background is out of focus. Also, I used Photoshop to enlarge the picture, but it's still pretty crisp. I guess I'll have to go with another image.

I am thinking back when I did it and I believe I was sent a email when the music was sent to the stores then another email when it went live on the platforms.

hey how are you? i see thats a great video but i have a very important question. Distrokid added a new service for youtube and it required us to check that box in order to recieve money from ads only when we have created every peace of music and sample s ourselves which is impossible. How david gueta and other collect money fro youtube they all use samples from libraries and they still getting paid from ads , can you please help us in that aspect? can we check that box (including all boxed from this category) that we have created all the sounds ourselves even we haven't? DistroKid doesn't take any cut. The stores I'm not sure what they take. But I made from a 25% split on a song from iTunes 22 cents.

I made mine after I uploaded my first single so not sure if you can do it before.

If music is mine and vocals by other then it will describe artist and band section as vocals as artist and band comes under music given producer right ? And if we don't have don't have customised artist Spotify page will distrokid provide and i don't have apple or any other streaming sites profiles only had youtube will distrokid automate it or ?

So I don’t have Musician plus, when would my album or song get released since it says “today”. Would I have to wait a couple days or would it be available THAT same day?

Every store has their own release times. So it would show up on Spotify first most likely because they are fastest. Then others would take longer.

And one more question If I have distrokid musican plus plan and For my first release it’s a collab between me and my friend how would we both get our separate artist accounts for KZread ? I know you get it for the other platforms but what if you already have a KZread account made ? How would me and my friend use our own accounts and not have distrokid make us one ?

You would not select the KZread option. You can just upload it your self to your channel instead of having them make a topic channel for you.

Yeah each song has the ISRC and UPC codes. ISRC comes in handy for several things when registering music for royalty collection.

The stores can upload without you doing the artist profile. That’s just a way for you to see stats and all that stuff. So it’s good to have

Could you please tell me what subscription is required if an album features 10 cover songs by multiple artists - does it mean Label (79,99 $/yr) option is my choice? Or is an artist considered to be someone who is just releasing those tracks? In that case, I am the only one.

If it is a single that has two versions I would say release both as 2 songs. Maybe just but extended version in the title for the extended version.

No they shouldn’t get paid anything from your music. And content ID i don’t know if they offer it. I went through audiam for that.

I don't think so but for anyone to listen it will have to sound decent.

Does the artwork need to be a certain MB size? There's another distribution service that only allows images that are smaller that a certain MB.
