Lol Exdeath and laugh and his wheeze never gets old. I miss his wheeze in the old game, I wish they bring his old laugh back in the new dissidia.

Part of that is possibly due to Gerald C Rivers aging. Like he's shown he can still act, but of course when it comes to the acting industry (whether it's theater or voicework), no matter how tuned you keep your vocal cords, the other muscles in your body could affect your body a bit and might struggle keeping that same flare you've delivered before. Listening to Gerald's takes here and in NT, there's a bit of a difference to his quality despite having that same fire.

It's hinesdly kinda weird how the dissidia writers have managed to place So Much Importance on ff5 and its lore and its implications/consequences/effects on the greater FF multiverse while simultaneously paying extremely little actual writing/depth/development to the originating ff5 characters themselves.

I think they know a character like Exdeath is so entertaining precisely because of how uncomplicated he is. His nature as a tree possessed by evil spirits is complicated, sure, but deep down he's a bombastic uncomplicated capital-V Villain who just wants to contradictorily control and destroy everything. He's an edgier Saturday morning cartoon villain, basically, which fits with FFV's comedic tone.

I kind of wished they made Gerald the voice for Ganondorf for Tears of the Kingdom. Nothing against Matthew, but given the type of personality and build Ganon had, I think Gerald would've been the better option. Plus I watched a Mod vid where Exdeath was replaced with TP Ganondorf and the voice lines and moveset fit the Demon King perfectly. Not only that, Ganon is someone I can hear having a bit of a wheeze in his voice.
