Dissecting a JK Rowling Tweet and Whether It Is Transphobic

Many still argue JK Rowling supports LGBTQ and trans rights and is not bigoted due the fact she claims to "know and love trans people." I discuss one of her tweets and whether the gender critical argument that "sex is real" is transphobic.

Indeed. It's not that we think sex isn't a thing, it's just not the deciding factor in a person's gender, which is the bit that's relevant to their identity and personhood. transphobes are so caught up in genitals. I don't understand why it's so hard for them to accept that biology is more complicated than high school level and gender isn't sex. Gender fuckery contains multitudes, and is something to embrace and explore, not gatekeep and demonise. Things are so interesting beyond the binary, it's a lot more chill than people like her would have people believe.

Yeah the fixation transphobes seem to have on people's genitals is weird and kind of creepy

Yeah but no matter what we call ourselves, we are what we are... and will never... nor have ever... been anything other than what we are.

@@MidnightChimey Yeah but if genitals don't indicate a person's sex, then how does removing them confirm it? Legitimate question!

@@brett6905 Based on your previous comment I somehow doubt you are asking this "legitimate question" in good faith, but anyways. I assume by "removing genitals" you are referring to bottom surgery. In a lot of cases trans people experience body dysphoria due to their gender identity not aligning with their sex as assigned at birth and how they may be perceived by others because of that, and so getting surgery can help a trans person to feel more comfortable. This is not always the case though and a trans person's identity is completely valid even if they choose not to have surgery

@@MidnightChimey I never said it was a good faith question, you made that up (I'm noticing a pattern) I knew you would not have a logical counterpoint.... But if youre telling me that the reason people cut off their genitals has nothing to do with affirming anything but it is just for comfort... Then we can both AGREE that the name should be changed from "gender affirming" surgery to "feel more comftorable surgery.... right? I'm looking forward to seeing how you will "word manipulate" yourself out of this one.
