    Thank you for these videos Amanda. I was 7 years sober before relapsing and going on a 4.5 year run. Alcohol and cocaine are my drugs of choice. I am currently 35 days sober and between AA, therapy and these videos, I have even better sobriety than I did before I relapsed. I also have my own channel, Dissapointing Your Demons, where I'm telling my story of my life long love affair with alcohol and drugs. Thanks for making these videos. They help immensely.

    Most parents that I have spoken to describe their children as loving sweet creative talented and the same with my son . I believe many are very sensitive and chose a road of addiction to console something inside of them. When they become sober they shine and become what the world needs because they are so beautiful

    My biggest monster thought is: well i gotta work tomorrow and i cant be in a bad way all day, so ill just have a few tonight and stop when i have some time off. 2nd most common is: omg, im just too stressed right now, i just need a little to calm down n get some sleep. The two ofthen go hand in hand with trying to stay functional enough to pay rent, or finish moving, or any other difficult thing i have to do.

    I was sober for 8 years… husband than started going to al-anon because I was realizing our marriage was over. This made me go out. We’re now divorced and I go back and forth with alcohol. I have a adult son in rehab (2weeks) drugs and alcohol. He says he is determined to stay away from drugs but hasn’t mentioned alcohol. Do you think sober living after rehab is a good idea. He is in another state far away from home and his children. he is divorced . I’m sure he is homesick. Would it be a bad idea to let him go visit children for few days and then go back to sober living ?

    I'm not the drinker, it's my son. So so heartbreaking. I'm doing better since listening to put the shovel down. I always used to try and convince him to quit drinking and did everything for him. I have learned to stop cleaning his room and doing his laundry and just let it all play out (whatever happens) he got out of detox about 4 weeks ago and has relapsed. I've also learned instead of lecturing him about it to except that it will probably happen at least 4 more times. He's doing exactly what you said they would do. ( Oh it's not gonna be like it was, I can control it now) thank God for your insight and podcast put the shovel down. So I'm not freaking out.

    Hi Amber👋 you wanted ,, triggers / craving, cause for relapses,, my partner would tell me ,,,,,,”””IT NEEDS ME “””,,, I think this is a woman’s thing maybe ,, as her corrupted , delusional reason for drinking had developed into a maternal / protective & religious/faith combination. This I think reduced her guilt and shame . It was like something out of science fiction,, she’d found the the holy grail on a super market shelf between some beer bottles .She needed to be bathed in its light, in return she would protect and nurture it faithfully . Spiritually for alcohol ,, getting closer ,to neat ,, spirits.

  • @tinaperez7393

    @tinaperez7393

    One difference is that people with an eating disorder not only need to still use the thing they have addictive behavior towards - the "substance" - daily, but multiple times a day (and in a healthy / normal way) versus substance addictions like alcohol where the goal is to not use the substance anymore. I'm guessing one key would be to determine what eating healthy / normally would be (for basic meals, hunger, nutrition), and what and when and why food is being used addictively and figure out the things that contribute to wanting to use food that way / what the reasons are and what to do instead. You probably know all that, but yeah, because there are some differences, it's probably helpful to find some good food addiction / eating disorder resources on the web and KZread. But this channel definitely has plenty of info that can apply and is useful too. It's a great resource on alcoholism recovery but also addictions in general.
