More on Relapse Prevention 👉🏻👉🏻kzread.info/head/PLaaJWwIpP_zYGVn_ClPrHnBbUBmhCsAox
Thank you for these videos Amanda. I was 7 years sober before relapsing and going on a 4.5 year run. Alcohol and cocaine are my drugs of choice. I am currently 35 days sober and between AA, therapy and these videos, I have even better sobriety than I did before I relapsed. I also have my own channel, Dissapointing Your Demons, where I'm telling my story of my life long love affair with alcohol and drugs. Thanks for making these videos. They help immensely.

Most parents that I have spoken to describe their children as loving sweet creative talented and the same with my son . I believe many are very sensitive and chose a road of addiction to console something inside of them. When they become sober they shine and become what the world needs because they are so beautiful

Hi Amber, thanks for this video. I've quit drinking since 2008 and still have cravings from time to time. I just don't take them seriously and certainly don't act on them.

Proverbs 16:3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. Isaiah 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Iniquity is the lies that we believe

This "contributing" action makes sense to me...its the getting the motivation to get to that action that I'm having trouble with. As of yesterday, I've been sober 46 days.

My son told me the other day he would rather take his life than go through detox. I asked him what if after detox you get to the other side and it made him upset as he said that’s what everyone thinks and it’s not the way it works . Ironically I missed the live chat because I was with him . Thank you for all you do for all of us going through this

Every time i want to to a drink i put my tong on the end of the electric fly swatter ! joking aside alcoholism is a monster that takes courage and outside support to get your arms around, there is no easy fix you need to get to the point that the part of you that wants to live is stronger that the part that want to die YOU ARE WORTH IT !!! My biggest monster thought is: well i gotta work tomorrow and i cant be in a bad way all day, so ill just have a few tonight and stop when i have some time off. 2nd most common is: omg, im just too stressed right now, i just need a little to calm down n get some sleep. The two ofthen go hand in hand with trying to stay functional enough to pay rent, or finish moving, or any other difficult thing i have to do.

That's the answer that my housemate needs I am trying to save her life, and given so much of my time investing into her victory over alcohol addiction, that is the key to unlock her heart to change and get the help she needs.
I was sober for 8 years… husband than started going to al-anon because I was realizing our marriage was over. This made me go out. We’re now divorced and I go back and forth with alcohol. I have a lot of anxiety in general and know alcohol is not the answer. Kids are out of town right now was my excuse last night. I hate the cycle of feeling relief only to hate myself.

There is some pretty interesting research on salt deficiency and addiction...
I have a adult son in rehab (2weeks) drugs and alcohol. He says he is determined to stay away from drugs but hasn’t mentioned alcohol. Do you think sober living after rehab is a good idea. He is in another state far away from home and his children. he is divorced . I’m sure he is homesick. Would it be a bad idea to let him go visit children for few days and then go back to sober living ?

I'm not the drinker, it's my son. So so heartbreaking. I'm doing better since listening to put the shovel down. I always used to try and convince him to quit drinking and did everything for him. I have learned to stop cleaning his room and doing his laundry and just let it all play out (whatever happens) he got out of detox about 4 weeks ago and has relapsed. I've also learned instead of lecturing him about it to except that it will probably happen at least 4 more times. He's doing exactly what you said they would do. ( Oh it's not gonna be like it was, I can control it now) thank God for your insight and podcast put the shovel down. So I'm not freaking out.

What about the Sinclair Method , what does it do for the mood
Amber have you done any work with the amino acids to stop cravings and fix brain chemistry..? Such an interesting tool.

This is anecdotal evidence but people who start the carnivore diet report that the cravings for alcohol seem to completely disappear. The thought is all the amino acids in the diet are flooding the brain with such a crucial thing for health.

Hi Amber👋 you wanted ,, triggers / craving, cause for relapses,, my partner would tell me ,,,,,,”””IT NEEDS ME “””,,, I think this is a woman’s thing maybe ,, as her corrupted , delusional reason for drinking had developed into a maternal / protective & religious/faith combination. This I think reduced her guilt and shame . It was like something out of science fiction,, she’d found the the holy grail on a super market shelf between some beer bottles .She needed to be bathed in its light, in return she would protect and nurture it faithfully . Spiritually for alcohol ,, getting closer ,to neat ,, spirits.

Would the mind set you are talking about in this video be applicable to eating addiction? 😳

I imagine any addiction. This channel is geared specifically toward alcoholism but Amber has said many times that the concepts, tools, and strategies taught here apply to all addictions.
@tinaperez7393
11 ай бұрын
One difference is that people with an eating disorder not only need to still use the thing they have addictive behavior towards - the "substance" - daily, but multiple times a day (and in a healthy / normal way) versus substance addictions like alcohol where the goal is to not use the substance anymore. I'm guessing one key would be to determine what eating healthy / normally would be (for basic meals, hunger, nutrition), and what and when and why food is being used addictively and figure out the things that contribute to wanting to use food that way / what the reasons are and what to do instead. You probably know all that, but yeah, because there are some differences, it's probably helpful to find some good food addiction / eating disorder resources on the web and KZread. But this channel definitely has plenty of info that can apply and is useful too. It's a great resource on alcoholism recovery but also addictions in general.

Bad advice if you had one and you have abottle u can still stop I guess maybe u can but the craving is much worse for me after a drink ( almost overwhelming) have 6 days after a small slip
Me 🤚🏼
Maybe I was lucky or happened to do it right, it’s been over 9 months and I don’t crave a drop of alcohol, the key difference was that I didn’t suffer withdrawal after go’ogling and reading Steffon Barkload, not even within the first 30 days after I quit and told no one, did not need AA meetings or meds either.
