Omg yes! An sooo many, literally every vendor had a different collectable bucket- I got the Boat from Steamboat Willie! But I saw like Full sized BB-8’s, Tangled Lanterns that light up… so many!!

But lest we forget that not only are their buckets amazing, their actual POPCORN game is NEXT LEVEL!!!!!! Im still trying to replicate that curry popcorn! it's just perfection!!!!!!

If people love figment so much they could just get a plush as well. Which is cuter and has more long term sentimental value than a bucket. I never understood why plushes were never hyped up like the buckets.

They’re not talked about often, but the crowds at Epcot are absolutely flooded with those little magnet shoulder Figments. They’re incredibly adorable and even folks who aren’t familiar with Figment are infatuated with these things. I’ve even seen people dress them up in nuiMo clothes.

I totally agree with Disney Dan about ebay. I had to wait for a year for a 2019 Mickey and Minnie gingerbread headband. In January 2020, it was $100 and then in September 2020, it was $12.00.

I agree as well. Disney Parks make very few items available online, particularly limited edition items (pins anyone?). If I don't live near a Disney theme park there is no way for me to get this merchandise other than ebay. And, my time is also worth so much more to me. I don't think I would wait 8 hours to nuy a popcorn bucket, but I would pay someone else a reasonable price to save me time.

I’ve had to do that as well for some of the pins. Most of the time they drop back to retail prices so it’s worth waiting

All this popcorn bucket hype makes it feel appropriate to finally reveal one of my greatest disney possessions is a white and blue annual pass holder popcorn bucket from a few years ago. Key features being that it was white and plastic, meaning it was incredibly easy for me to use a bit of white out to make myself a custom "Annual Assholder" popcorn bucket, that sits proudly in my room to this day. It feels even more special now that the program no longer has that name. This is my only popcorn bucket discourse contribution and it's incredibly lame. Loved those free refills though, memories.

Dan, you put popcorn in your hand-made Figment puppet. Popcorn being put in a plastic foot does NOT sound all that crazy after that. XD Great video, saw the Offhand Disney video yesterday and began wondering when this video would come out. Here’s hoping Disney takes all the chaos as a sign that we need more Figment.

That reminds me of the Rosalina Amiibo... I'm a Nintendo fan, I collect amiibo figures, and Rosalina was Target exclusive, so people stormed it, and instead of the usual $12-$20, they were up on ebay for like $100... I still don't have one. But at least with Disney, they seem to be more aware of that aspect. I actually don't remember popcorn buckets when I went there, but I'm in Canada, so only went there once like 10 years ago, and didn't have room in my suitcase to bring anything home.

I’ve been buying Disney and movie theater popcorn buckets for 20 years. I don’t even eat popcorn at home but dammit, I love these buckets on a shelf. It’s funny that you mentioned the Mickey mummy buckets because if you go to the Disney outlet store at the Vineland outlets (Orlando), they have a huge overstock of those buckets right now. I think they’re like $15.

Dan’s like “I’m going to give the people Everything they Want… and what they want… is popcorn buckets apparently?”

I was one of the crazy people that did wait in line for figment bucket. Not for resale but for my own pleasure. Figment is one of my favorite characters, but I do also have several of the other buckets. This is the first one that I had to stand in line for. I am going back to the park next week to enjoy the Festival of the Arts.

The thing that upsets me is I had all these popcorn buckets from 1998-2002 from Paris and My dad and I were using them to store things in the shed, and I had no idea they’d become so collectible 😂 however the shed never looked so magical 😂

Do I like popcorn? Yes. Do I like Figment? Yes! Do I like this video? Absolutely! Well done on doing this video. It's Poptastic!

I didn't even realize Disney popcorn buckets were a thing until a few years ago when my friend was telling me about how she tried to buy me an Oogie Boogie one, buy they were strictly enforcing the purchase limit lmao

This reminds me of when Universal Studios Japan released a limited edition Mechagodzilla popcorn bucket to coincide with the Godzilla Vs Evangelion ride in 2019. I was lucky enough to be visiting Japan at the time and I went to USJ where I was able to pick up one of them. There was a pretty sizable line and in just a couple hours of the park opening they were all sold out for the day. That was definitely my first experience of popcorn buckets being a hot commodity!

Me and my family had many popcorn buckets from disney world. We even ended up using them outside the parks sometimes! When we went to the theater, each of the kids had their own bucket that the jumbo sized one would be poured into. It probably helped prevent infighting between me and my 3 sibs.

The Tangled one even resembles the lanterns from the movie and lights up too. I have that bucket, so it was worth getting it.

If TDR’S popcorn bucket video isn’t a 12 part, 20 hour long series, I will be disappointed. They have the most wild assortment of buckets!

If anything Dan would make it a whole hour or two for that alone, just to beat Defunctland's hour+ long docu about the history of Disney lines.

I didn't even know that was a thing. I mean they look cool, but obviously I wouldn't pay more than retail for them.

The figment popcorn buckets are EXCLUSIVE to the festival. Once the festival is over they are GONE and will not be coming back. That’s why they are so popular. If you don’t get one or have gotten one by now, you won’t ever get one at Epcot. They’re limited edition to the festival and once sold out will not be returning.

I have a popcorn bucket problem, I have so many (not helped that i lived in Japan for a while where like you said the buckets were crazy cool), i haave no idea what to do with them all, using them is always hard because lol none of them are easy to wash afterwords. Ive started using them store craft materials.

As someone who does live in the Orlando area I kind of agree that Disney in a way is basically just a giant mall for us. Literally about a month ago my friend and I drove to Disney springs just to try some snacks and buy a tshirt. We then immediately left afterwords.

Every good behaviour kid should have 1-2 bags of Disney Parks souvenirs: plush toys, toys, mini figures, bubble blower, Mickey ears, t-shirts, jacket, drinking bottle, and some pins or magnets and etc. Please buy only those Disney Parks souvenirs, what the kids very want!!!! I know many Disney souvenirs are very expensive, but when the kids are very good all the times, then sometimes they deserve these things!!! At this point I'm just frustrated, because we're going in a few days, and I've never seen my mom remotely excited about merch before but she loves figment and she likes this bucket. Of course the one time I wanna get her something it's a thing with an 8 hour wait and huge markups.

i think the foot buckets are meant to be a representation of the "boot" mugs used in Germany around Christmas for gluehvine, which are widely popular in their Christmas markets. That's why the popcorn buckets that are shaped that way are always Christmas ones.

When the Millennium Falcon bucket was released, my Dad surprised me by sending me one for Christmas (he’s in CA, I’m in AZ). I liked seeing the photos of people repainting to age and detail their Millennium Falcon buckets. Also getting it helped answer my question of how essentially a flat disk actually functions as a bucket. You point the ship into a nose dive, lift the back top, and there are grooves to fit a small cardboard rectangle containers in)

Very interesting back story! That said - waiting 8 hours in line for a novelty popcorn bucket that's probably going to end up in a closet or the basement? I'd rather spend 8 hours going on attractions, shopping and/or dining experiences.

I live vicariously through these kinds of videos, because I'm broke and live on an island very far from america

That picture of you as Dreamfinder with Figment is gold! Made my day. I was given a Figment stuffy as a little kid and he was my favorite my whole childhood. Never even went to WDW until high school, but Figment will always have a special place in my heart!

only someone like Dan can take a professionally made puppet that's probably worth hundreds of dollars, stuff it with greasy popcorn and casually eat out of it just for a youtube gag. Never change Dan, never change.

I got my first popcorn bucket January 14 this year on the first day of Festival of the Arts. I stood in line for 3 hours ( 10:10 am to 1:20 pm) for my Figment Popcorn bucket. It was an experience I never want to do again.

As someone who lives 20 minutes away I can confirm that we do treat it like a mall. I can also admit that in my house we buy popcorn buckets to use as holiday decor

How many popcorn buckets do I have? Zero. The last time I was in Disney was 2010/2011 and didn't know about about these popcorn buckets until relatively recently. Apparently the reason that that lady threw out that cake was because Disney has a rule that, when you bring in food, you can’t give it to people outside of your group.

My mom loves these popcorn buckets! She has a lot of the old ones that are printed. She has some of the Universal Studios ones too, like the Minions bucket. My mom is always jealous because Disneyland Tokyo and Univerdal Studios Japan always have the nicest popcorns buckets that light up, make noises, and are from licenses we’ll never have here in the US.

When Ed and I were in Walt Disney World in September 2020, we got a Steamboat Willie Mickey Balloon Popcorn Bucket, Steamboat Willie Minnie Balloon Popcorn Bucket, Guinevere the Van Popcorn Bucket, The Millennium Falcon Popcorn Bucket and we also have two Mickey Celebration Sippers, Dearest Dan.

That's why Tokyo Disney introduced the popcorn tongs, for popcorn like that of the Figment Bucket. Best to get one for that!

I watched both Dallons and this video on the buckets and I really enjoyed both (though I enjoy all of DisneyDan and Offhand Disneys vids and don't even get me started on their podcast because it's an absolute joy to watch and listen to)

I think the re-sellers are more annoying to the people who literally waited hours in line only for the dude in front of them to buy the last 50 figments. I’m probably gonna wait for prices to dip because oh my god is he adorable lol

This video made me want Disney popcorn really bad 🤣. Such a simple snack really does have its own interesting history, and the legacy of Disney popcorn buckets will be part of that history too. I’m pretty sure my parents have a 90s one somewhere in their apartment, and a goal for my next trip is to get one for myself of whatever theming might be going on at the time. You really hit the nail on the head about the resellers. People want the merch but Disney is too dumb to just sell it in their online store. So they get a $25 profit while someone else gets $100+. Admittedly, I bought the figment spork from an online reseller because $15 for a spork is less harm to my wallet than $100+ for a bucket And the wait point stands too. When the Loki show premiered on Disney+ back in June, there was a limited release of "Loki charms." They sold out in minutes and soon appeared on eBay for $150+ now a few months later, it's $30-50 for a box.

I'm currently back in my popcorn bucket craze because of the new Ghostbusters film. I got lucky enough to pick up the Ghost Trap popcorn bucket, and it's absolutely gorgeous

The only thing I can think of why Disney made a foot popcorn bucket is the Kriskindel markets around the holidays. There’s one in Chicago and they were mulled wine in a mug shaped like a boot. Love your videos and the set changes!!!
