Thanks! This totally helped me fix my DW
If you replace the element and/or the thermostat you should then do a diagnostic test to reset the machine. I replaced mine and it still did not work until I did the test. On my machine (whirlpool) you use any three buttons and press 1-2-3/1-2-3-/1-2-3, quickly. my machine works now that I did the test.

+Rick C Thank you Rick! The same thing happened to me. I couldn't find anything about this in the manual, so without this comment I would have been lost. I also ran the machine on "Sensor" setting after this test, which I hadn't been doing before. I don't know what difference that made...probably none, but I think my Whirlpool has an optical sensor thermostat, so it may be related somehow.

Thank goodness I ran cross this video with your comment about doing a diagnostic reset my dishwasher quit drying dishes last week and after watching numerous videos I determined it was the heating element that was bad so I replaced it in the dishwasher still did not dry dishes. But after reading your comment and resetting the dishwasher by doing a diagnostic test dishwasher is working like new and all is well.
hi there. i have an ikea rengora dishwasher not heating up. looked for the heater. is the heater in the motor?
Thanks for making this movie!!!!!
It needs to be isolated from the other parts of the dishwasher and you need to have access to the terminals. It is easiest to take the element out of the dishwasher.
Hi. I just checked the continuity of a Flow-Through Heating element. I found the reading above 100 ohms following the instructions of the video. Would that suppose a different issue?
Hello. My multimeter only has the X1K setting; and not the X10 as shown in your video. When using X1K, i get no movement in the needle whatsoever. Can I assume the heating element is bad while using the X1K setting?
I would recommend using the repair help section of our website (link in the description). If you enter your model number there you'll have access to part, model and symptom specific repair help.
Can you check this without pulling out the heating element?
New repairmen nowadays, What’s analog? What’s that needle thingy? 😂😂😂 Great info, thanks.

So these things should have about 10 ohms of resistance?
@repairclinic
10 жыл бұрын
The resistance will vary a little. You may see 20 or 50 depending on the element. If it shows a resistance reading that is close to that the element is good.

+RepairClinic.com what about 12 ohms? is it going bad?
When testing for continuity, why not just do a continuity test with the multimeter? Pardon my ignorance, I don't understand why it is better to test for resistance in this particular case. Thanks!

16.7 ohms is good but make sure you're not on K (kilo) or M (Meg) ohms, otherwise it is bad.
14.4 and still not drying. Suggestions?
