DISHWASHER DETERGENT OR TABLET - WHAT TO USE & WHICH IS BETTER IN INDIA | Powder, Gel, Tablet, Pod

Ғылым және технология

Is Dishwasher Detergent Better OR is a tablet better? What to use with your Dishwasher in India? I use the Finish tablet, but I have tried Crystale and ARNIGO. I have not yet tried the Fortune, IFB or VIM dishwasher tablets. When I bought a dishwasher earlier this year, I was confused on what to use - I tried both and this video talks about my experience with each of them.

Thanks for this video. I had use all 3 and tablets without salt n Rinse aid. I stopped using all 3 separately as I faced issue of foaming in my water glass while I was filling it. After research, I found that Rinse aid's one layer remains on the vessels. Hence I tried tablet. Tablet gives good result. And no layer remains on vessels. I have soft water so I stopped using salt n Rinse aid with Tablet. I have bosch dishwasher and currently I am using Bosch dishwasher tablets which is giving me good results. Crystale tablets, I am not happy as I found residues on my Vessals. Surely tablets are expensive but if you have soft water then you can use it without rinse aid and salt and save money on that

Thanks for the informative video. I wanted to ask whether using a rinse aid along with tablet will give better drying results? I am using a bosch DW and have soft water in the area so i just use a tablet but on some days some vessels still contain streaks of water and have not dried properly. Could using a rinse aid solve this? Or does this occur when dishes are left in the machine for a long time after the running cycle is complete?

  • @TheGrapevineIndia

Hi Equinox, yes - i have always used rinse aid with tablet too. Except for plastic, everything else dries out really good. I don’t believe it is due to leaving in the machine for long - although there could be some amount of condensation- which we do see on the doors of the dishwasher.

I completely agree that a tablet yields excellent results.... In fact I use (all in one max )plus (Quantum) along with rinse aid and salt which is absolutely mandatory. This yields sparkling results for a fully loaded dishwasher . I am finicky when it comes to vessels😊

Recently I tried vim dishwasher detergent and I am truly amazed with the cleaning and the shine with this detergent powder and I find that even heavily stained vessels get cleaned with 15 gms of powder. Earlier I was using more than 20 gms of finish detergent. The results are truly amazing with vim as it gives better cleaning in comparison. Hey in your pursuit of automating life, what’re your experiments with using a carpet extract (a type of super fancy vacuum cleaner)? KZread has no videos on the difference between a vacuum and an extractor, advantages to clean mattresses and carpets and it seems pretty cool

Hi Rustam - will look into this. A robot vacuum cleaner - while it does clean over carpets - does not do a deep cleanse like an extractor. But a heavy duty extractor may be an overkill for a regular home. Let me research this more 😊 Frankly I don’t have carpets in my house and used to get a deep cleanse service done atleast once a year. It’s been a challenge to do that in the current situation and I myself have been thinking about it.

Hi Subbalakshmi, i would recommend you to add salt and rinse aid and set it to lowest setting. If cleaning is not good, increase the salt setting. I say this because even I use tablet but when salt is low- I do see vessels don’t get washed so well. Since water quality is so finicky in India - try a few setting and then once you get the best wash quality - leave it at that and continue.

Hi Padma! Actually no, machine will take the settings based on what you set your salt and rinse aid settings. So what I've seen people do is make the salt and rinse aid setting to minimal when usng a tablet. But that would depend on where you stay - if your TDS is higher, you may still need salt and rinse aid even if you do use a tablet (like I do).

About dish washer tablets, use FINISH-QUANTUM or VIM tablets. Finish have many variants like power balls, all in one powder etc. but if water is hard, confine to FINISH-QUANTUM or VIM tablets. I suggest to buy small quantity packets (like 24 tab pack) initially while testing. Do t buy big packets. About IFB dish washer powder/tablets, I have no idea. You may give a try. It would be very helpful to include information on the environmental impact of these products and as an influencer maybe you can raise those issues directly with the manufacturers. Reduce the setting of Rinse Aid to 1. It is safe. If you use longer cycles or auto cycle, no chemical (detergent or Rinse Aid) survives longer duration.

Hi Sawmya .... Thanks for your reco ... Got the Faber dishwasher at last :-) .... Am happy so far. The guy at the installation mentioned that with "All in one" tablet, we can avoid using Sale and Rinse Aid - as the tablet contains both in it. Whats your experience with Bangalore water? Have you tried All-In-Onewithout Salt and rinse-aid?

Hi Gyanesh, congratulations! Yes it is said that you can skip it. But the machine does pop an alert when each one of them is low in quantity. So I normally do add it in the dishwasher and make the setting the least setting (1 for rinse aid and H1 I think for salt) - so that the consumption is minimized.

Bad smell simply means that food particles are trapped in the filter at the bottom of the dishwasher. Either the food particles have to be removed before the utensils are placed in the dishwasher or frequent/weekly cleaning of the dishwasher filter and holes in the spray arms is required. Tablets require very hot temperature and longer cycles to get dissolved and fully consumed otherwise the unspent detergent may leave spots on utensils. First use a cycle, which is hot and is not less than 2 hours of duration. I use detergent in all the cycles and get wonderful results as I keep on changing the detergent as per duration of the cycle. Fortune detergent/tablets are cheaper than Finish or Vim, but are very effective.

When Voltas Beko replaced my new dishwasher on account of it's top having a dent, Voltas gave me a free box of Vim tablets. As I normally use only Fortune detergent, I had not opened Vim tablet box. Fortunately 2 days ago my dishwasher ran out of Rinse Aid. I used the Vim tablet in a 2.30 hour cycle (without adding Rinse Aid, as Vim claims that with Vim Tablet you do not require to add salt or Rinse Aid). As the utensils also contained tea stained pots, I was surprised to find utensils nicely cleaned and dried. Vim Tablet has given excellent result. A word of caution. Kindly add salt and rinse aid to the cycle (It may be at the lowest) as Salt and Rinse aid ensure that the dishwasher does not retain any water droplet, which may corrode the dishwasher in long run.
