a friend of mine is the BIGGEST disgaea fan ever (well, at least that i know of), so the next time im in japan, im gonna see if i can get him that etna figure. It's a piece of history

its not too hard to find, last time I checked (was thinking about replacing mine, which isn't in great shape) its something like $100 on ebay.

Disgaea rpg is definitely not the best way to experience the franchise for the first time and I speak from experience 🥲

Wrong disgaea rpg is my first time ever being introduced to the franchise and because of it I'm obsessed with the world and characters to where I go back and look up the games your experience isn't everyone's

The games have deeper tactical battles but the hole world and characters and the grind have the similar feel

Nice video. Honestly it seems that the west didn't miss out on much Disgaea wise, and that's good to see.

Im glad I found this channel, its rare to find a channel that seems so genuinely intrested in the world of collecting, especially the anime niche game stuff.

The Disgaea 2 Etna figure is something I vividly remember seeing online and wanting long ago. And as for the PS4 version of Disgaea 6, I don't have any hard facts, but I do wonder if it has something to do with Nintendo marketing the game so much in the west. It was all over their social media for a time, and they even had Disgaea 6 goodies on Club Nintendo

Thanks for the video. It was interesting to see the different types of media that are Japan exclusives, especially the light novels. I've become a Disgaea fan after being introduced to the series by you and I've played through 1,3,4,5. I plan to play 6 soon.

Thanks for the video! I just wanted to say that the Disgaea 1 LNs, Revelations and Returned, are fantastic reads! They follow up on the story of the first game 10 and 100 years later, and add additional characters such as Laharl's Aunt, Uncle, and nephews (part of a faction that opposed Krichevskoy), Gordon and Jennifer's daughter, Flonne's parents and my personal favorite, her (slightly bustier) imouto Ozonne. I actually enjoyed the story of these MUCH more then DD2, it actually does a way better job of properly following up the plot of the first game. For that reason I really wish DD2 just adapted these novels. I would have loved to have it fully realized with art, voicework, and playable units and be experienced by many more people. Not sure if there is another translation but I read and recommend Yinza translations for anyone interested.

Oh I have those manga based on the first Disgaea and Disgaea 2! They were some of my first manga that I owned :) The Disgaea 2 manga is indeed three volumes long, but we never got the third volume in English cause I think Broccoli Books went under around then :/ I remember there being plans for its English release, so I was particularly miffed once I found out it got canned.

I have those first two artbooks. There are also the gasapon style plastic box figures. I found a few at an anime con in mid 2000s

I got myself hooked on the anime and then the third game of the vampire sardines

I'm not actually sure if it part of the Disgaea universe or not, but I recall Etna making an appearance in Cross Edge for the PS3.

We didn't get the drama cds either

use dark assembly, maybe you can unlock it in the west.

My favorite Disgaea is La Pucelle Tactics. Although I only played 3 Disgaea games. Also Prier is technically in the DLC in Disgaea 5.

those 2 broccoli books are excellent, found them and the first etna figure shown at an anime convention in 2007-ish. They function as kind of an art book/players guide combo, I still pull them out when I go back to the first two games to look up item stats, class unlock conditions, etc. Broccoli also did a ton of smaller 2-3 inch figures that are really fun, there were 3 waves iirc, with each wave being 10-ish classes, plus the d1 trio and plenair (with a pram figure being a bonus for buying a collectors box) iirc waves 1 and 2 were d1, and wave 3 was disgaea 2. Though oddly several included makai kingdom weapons, laharl for instance comes with a drill, not a sword.

cool video. Disgaea D2 looks really good, I'd say it has the best presentation out of all the disgaea ps3 games. Honestly, it might look better than Disgaea 5.

Disgaea 6 a year later they released on ps4 and ps5 after the switch released Apparently sony playstation can be stubborn when cames to porting games not under their radar not mention coding experience with other versions From what I hear verdants of disgaea don't like 6 because the new systems as well as a new director in charge of the games

dude story doesnt matter much in Disgaea games.. play them in release order.. so 1,2 3 4 then D2 5 etc. For example Axell shows up initially in Disgaea 2 but then he later ends up on Disgaea 4's Hades/underworld and he got his cat sidekick too.. so just start with 1 and onwards.
