Well for those who spent $40 straight on gacha should not have difficulty buying this. If it's $40 accumulated like myself (probably more than that) it's still an issue.

@DaBomb8493 you aren't the demographic they're looking for. They set up those prices knowing there's that 1% of their playerbase spending $5k+ a month to get #1 rank or 100% completion rate. Everyone else is there to inflate player numbers to entice whales and don't matter.

​@@incongruous4 That is not true, the backbone of the mobile genre are actually the dolphins, not whales. Dolphins spend around 1-200 dollars a year (the average MMO sub is around 180 dollars, for reference) but they are like 40% of the player base. Whales are only about 5-7% and spend, at max, a few thousand a year, but they certainly help though. The super whales are a dime a dozen and spend 5-10k, it's why the make headlines, cuz they're not exactly common.

FG, this has to be my favorite review you’ve done. It might be because I think this is the most hype I’ve heard you or it could be because I’ve also put thousands of hours in these games. You’re assessment is spot on, this is a great game, but I think that the, frankly outrageous, price is sadly going to keep this one a hidden gem. Thanks for the great content!

@@carlo_m I think it was actually. I can't remember much because I only beat the main story and quit, but I remember the story be really lame. Like the 4th Chapter you go around destroying statues and that's it. The whole time you're sitting there thinking "When is the main plot going to get there?" Lol

$32 is less than a 10 pull in most of these mobile games....

I see Disgaea content I instantly click. The nostalgia trip is real. Seriously whoever doesn't know of the Disgaea Franchise and *ESPECIALLY* the first one do yourself a favor.. and download it on a PSP emulator~

@@Daphildes Each Disgaea title is a stand-alone from the previous games and the previous characters sometimes may make a cameo appearance. I have played up to Disgaea 2 which were the golden age of Disgaea. But from what I've heard the 3rd was good overall~ So if it's cheap why not~

@@Daphildes Disgaea 3 on the Vita is probably the best one to start with if you're new to the series. The first Disgaea game has the best story and characters, but the gameplay is for sure very dated. Disgaea 3, and especially the Vita version of the game, is a lot easier to get into and is a joy to play.

The auto battle part would have been awesome if it were implemented on the other titles. Would have saved a lot of sleepless nights :D

This game could've been absolute garbage (which it isn't) and the fact that it gave birth to the "Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero?" still makes it a goddamn treasure. Dood. But not part 2.

Great video. Love the Disgaea series and was hyped to find it on mobile (I’m 31 with a child now so console gaming is non existent for me.) I would 100% rather have $30 quality mobile games than have a million crappy $1 games.

Plebs: $32 woah that's too much! Also Pleb: $100 pack where they don't even get the character they want . That being said freemium games have warped the perception of money so bad that this game can be priced so high. That being said I may still get it :/

Doood $32!!! Love this game during my childhood though.

When City of Villains came out I made a mstermind and named it Mid-Boss because of this game. Was one of my favorites growing up.

I've played just D5 so far and loved it. I looked into the previous ones, but one of the things I loved about D5 was that the characters and the story took itself seriously - while D1, for example, seemed more joke-y at first glance. I also liked the specific character dynamics. And the visuals/game mechanics being the most recent also made it very enjoyable but at the same time discourages me from trying the predecessors.

Disgaea 1 has the best story line imo

17 years, makes me feel old. I recently bought the PS4 version that's a port of the original PS1 version and the includes all the flaws the original had such as over sized or impossible maps in the item world. That's why I'm abit suspicious of this mobile version.

Is really enjoyable to hear you and even if i avoid playing most of the hero collectors (only honkai and epic7), i still always watch your videos because hearing you is enjoyable xD Just curious btw. Ikr. I can totally get most people can't get into the post game but even the main story is so fun alone

I am a really BIG fan of Final Fantasy Tactics and Disgaea. Both games were the reason I first looked at the genre and why I love it till this day. And while FFT got a impact on me and have the nº 1 spot on my heart I still enjoy the characters, humor and other some minor aspects of Disgaea.

The Sprites look better and cleaner,that's a good thing.Probably gonna wait for a week before buying it,for bugs fix and stuff.

Finding out FG is a fan of Disgaea has multiplied my respect for him by 1,000,000

The Disgaea franchise, in general, is the best grid tactical rpg. Worth the money if you haven't played it.

This is a remastered version of the game that usually would run you $49 on the Nintendo Switch or PS4 with cloud saves, controller support and well done touch controls. $32 is a good deal compared to what you'd pay on Switch at lower resolution with not as good graphics.

@@tryintech839 Lol, no. The PS4 version is £10 or less second hand. Maybe the switch version is a bit newer. But the price will go down quickly. All the graphics are just taken from 5/4. The only reason to get the game is portability, that's the only one I can think of.

@@tryintech839 No bothering discussing it. People see mobile and suddenly they think a full game needs to be less then 20 usd. Even if it costs 50 on the ps4 for exactly the same game. Second hand retail is hard to even get for this game, because there aren't a whole lot of copies to find at all. People just barely have anything positive to say on the internet nowadays.

I wonder if it would run well on Nox emulator? Either way, this is a desert island game. If you could bring one game to a desert island you could take Disgaea and be totally fine. So by definition it's worth it given that you can play it for a VERY long time and still have plenty to do.

will have to wait for a sale on this to snag it.

As a huge fan of Disgaea as a series, honestly my favorite video game series even given the fact I haven't been able to play D2 or 5 yet I actually really liked 2 a lot. Now noted it was MUCH weaker storywise and character wise the progression in gameplay mechanics, animations etc. we're incredible at the time. I mean don't get me wrong I like Adell, Rozalin and Axel but they don't even come CLOSE to Laharl, Etna and best idiot angel Flonne. Moving forward I still think that was the strongest team of "protagonists" even with how much I enjoyed Mao's antics and Valvetorez simply being himself. Im right there with but 32 buckos for this on mobile? Atlus I think you might need to rethink that one even with how much I absolutely adore this series. Regardless it's cool to see Disgaea getting some spotlight given its been kind of in the dark for quite awhile now

I mean if you asked me to play D1 again after I've played 2-4 with all it's mechanic upgrades and QoL features I probably couldn't even with how great D1 is as a game

Honestly when I saw the price, it made me shocked a little yet I'd figured the price is fair considering the last full premium mobile game like this was Final Fantasy Tactics released in 2011 for 10-15 dollars. Besides 32$ is nothing compared to just a 5-6 hour shift at work...and this just completes the ps2 classics that will eventually arrive on mobile.

I was excited for this, until I heard the price. I already own this on PS2 and PSP; Im not about to pay 30+ bucks for yet another copy of it.

good point made in the comments. on console or pc 32 dollars seems alot for a game this old (even remastered) but compared to gacha mobile game pricing it actually is a steal...

My favorite Strategy series is now on mobie devices? Thats neat. FG has great taste in the Disgaea too I see. I think you'll like Super Robot Wars as well, its crazy over the top.

FG Disgaea 5 Killia is a badass

They just released Disgaea 4 (the real best disgaea game FG!) for like $30 too. Sad but hopefully it goes on sale

I think Disgaea 6 will be coming to android too after the switch exclusivity wears off, its also got the whole autobattle stuff etc.

2020 and people still don't know u can download almost everything for free with mods. Unless u want to support the game by buying.

The only difference between this and the old Disgaea is the graphic for sure. But if you don't use controller to play it, you may find it bothersome to keep touching everything in the game from choosing character till executing action. Though it have auto & speed >>, so it might made your item world grinding much more easier (well sometime you may got stuck in item world).

I have it on steam... started it and the localization turned me off but you saying this port has an awsome localization? Do you understand japanese or this game is not the same as the one on steam

Btw did you use regular emulators? Maybe the game needs 64-bit as it's a 2020 release game. Bluestacks and MEMU has 64-bit versions to run 64-bit apps.

Hey FG, or anyone really. Do you know if this game is able to play offline? I loved this game back when I was a teenager and it would be perfect to play on flights. I don't always buy the wifi on planes so I love stacking a bunch of offline games for those trips.

32 for a port of a ps2 is a bit of a stretch. Even the FF ports aren't that much, however, I might just get it because hopefully this will help motivate more devs to Port console games to mobile :) if love me persona 3 and 4 or devil summoner, I think jrpgs work great on mobile.

they already made one that released in japan, and they did mess it up badly. They took it down for 3 months to do bug fixes and re-released it. The game is a turn based though instead of grid based tactics like this which sucks.

They have two mobile games with gacha elements released in japan, Makai wars you can play freely with qooapp but with the Disgaea Rpg, you will need a vpn. If how ever you just want to look at the pretty new designs the characters get, you can go to twitter to look (makaiwars_sp and Disgaea_App). They do have an item world in the RPG game but, imo, feels kind of pointless/slow even with speed button at x3.

Disgaea 5 on nintendo switch. All the DLC are in this version. I'd probably have paid the 32 dollars if I didn't already have.

I dunno man. There's room in my heart for both the majority of Nippon Ichi's SRPGs and Final Fantasy Tactics. The gameplay in the NI games is way more intricate and interesting but Tactics (and by extension the Ogre games) will always have the better stories.

Yeah its quite expensive, but when i think about the money i spent on gacha game that very similar to this (The Alchemist Code) i spent far more money on it

Mann n that price! I picked up TWEWY on mobile and Chaos Rings... They were not this expensive! Tbh, I love TWEWY more than Disgaea. Already had it on my psp. The only thing I'm considering would be the auto battle and the hyper battle speed. Other than that, if there's nothing more to it, then it's gonna be a tough pass. Never got my weapon up Lv320.
