Linn had been advising speaker setup to within fractions on an inch since 1981 or 82. Been doing that since.
NEEEEEEDDD ..to come visit now =) Im thrilled to hear these =) No More Banana Rama .. =) hahah
So what happens when your sitting three feet from the center sweet spot? Does the sound fall off really negatively if you are off axis?

I'm also curious about this. With all that Wilson advocates and their dedication to time alignment, it makes me wonder if their speakers still sound good if you are moving around; ie making dinner, pouring a drink, tending momentarily to other responsibilities, etc. It seems to me that these speakers are super dependent on setup and remaining in the predetermined sweet spot to sound good. As an audiophile for over 40 years; I say no thanks. I've been down the road of tweaking my rooms and buying/upgrading speakers and electronics to compensate for every time I moved to a new home. I've moved on to iems and headphones now and I'm much happier. Both take the room out of the equation and it costs much less than a home stereo based system. No, you don't always get the visceral, chest thumping bass that a home system can give; but it's much less expensive and you can move around without losing any sound quality.

@@tomfrank2707 exactly what I am saying. Remember the old box speakers of the 70’s and80’s you could sit six feet apart and still enjoy the music at nearly 98% of what the sweet spot hears. Would I purchase these if I couldn’t get that kind of coverage? Not at those prices. Whenever I bring this topic up the presenter never answers it. I’ll keep my $$5,000 system and enjoy the sound even when I’m cooking in the kitchen.

@jamesschneider3828 Yup! I'd say you're on the right track. Totally agree. If a system only sounds it's best within a certain confined listening spot (ie. the equilateral triangle space), I'm not interested in that.

For the very best results, you do need to be in the sweet spot. Sitting off axis still sounds great, but the magic is when you are in the best seat.
Hi Adrian, very good video on the process of setting up Wilson speakers. I have a couple of questions; when you were moving the speakers around for Peter do you know what SPL in dB the speakers were playing? 65 dB, 70dB ? As well do know what recordings Peter was using to assist in making the positioning (Note; I have Wilson Sophia 3 speakers) 2:26
Note to whoever is taking these videos, and this is based not just on this video but a few other recent ones: raise the camera. You can see, especially, when recording the two on the bench that their feet seem too big. Also, raising the camera will avoid the up-the-nostril problems. Then, instead of tilting the camera down (because it is higher), just zoom in a bit more so the two talking heads are in half-shots. We don't need to see their lower legs/feet.

Great video Adrian. You're always informative. Personally I am past the point where I have a dedicated listening room and can dial speakers in to this exacting of degree. I love Wilson speakers but that precision won't work in my living room.A 1/4 inch margin of error is a deal killer for me. I'm looking at Sonus Faber speakers that I believe (hopefully) have a wider sweet spot.
Watching with an open mind ..and jaw dropping to the floor. Btw, are you doing Audiofest on Oct? Great video as usual 👍☕️🔥🍕

Peter McGrath is an awesome guy. I met him at an AV shop in Hawaii. He was vey meticulous during the Wilson setup.

yes he is
Nice to hear that the Progression integrated is that good. Now I only need to win a smaller lottery 😊
So what sort of music is on Peter's private tracks and how was it recorded?

He records mainly classical music, purist method, no EQ
Good video...What happen to CC?

Quarter of an inth...I'm sorry, I meant inth.
I have attended a couple of Peter's demos at my Wilson dealer's store. He's a fine gentleman, but everything is played so loudly that it doesn't sound natural to me. Admittedly, I'm not a rock music fan.
