Discussing Afghanistan with Michael Hastings

In 2010, Michael Hastings wrote a controversial piece for Rolling Stone that potentially ruined the reputation of US army general Stanley McChrystal, then commander of NATO's internal security assistance force in the war in Afghanistan. The article, which detailed McChrystal's disapproval of President Obama, caused McChrystal to resign his position. We got in touch with Hastings and he gave us the opportunity to discuss counter insurgency in Afghanistan, criticisms of President Obama and the ongoing tension between the Pentagon and the White House.

Obama waged an all out war on journalists that included stalking CBS reporter Sheryll Attkisson, spying on AP reporter James Rosen, and targeted conservative film maker DiNesh D’Souza. And that’s just what we know of. Obama used the FBI as a hit squad just like a dictator would and now the agency is in ruins with Comey going to jail soon and hopefully Chris Wray getting fired. It’s all Obama’s fault for massive abuse of power.

@ynk3479 ah yes, because that's written in an autopsy, something that CANNOT be forged. Then by that logic, false information can also be spread through other reports.. like the kind your QANON level conspiracy theories are being extracted from. Unless you happened to time travel back and watch the crash happen? Man went from publishing great work like Baghdad and The Operators to being another drone of the listicle spewing garbage dump that is Buzzfeed. I’d drive into a tree too if I had that kind of trajectory as a journalist.

No, the FBI killed him. Obama used the FBI to wage war on journalists from James Rosen, to Sharyll Attkisson, to DiNesh D’Souza. What’s coming out now about the Russian collusion hoax confirms how out of control the Obama administration actually was. Brennan and Comey the two dirtiest cops in Washington DC. From the U.K. to South Korea Obama was ruining everything.

I was talking to a soldier who had just left Iraq... He told me a horrific story. His team had to complete missions called sweeps. The soldiers were ordered to a RESIDENTIAL neighborhood & told to kill anyone living. He lost his mind because he went in a house where the mother and father and two kids were at the dinner table eating. He killed every last one of them including the toddler children. It wasn't even a war zone. They were executing people for no reason....

A contractor working for an employer does not speak for that employer, and it is so Knoll-ist dishonest to attribute something a contractor says to being the actual viewpoint of the company that hired that subcontractor. It wasn’t afraid to name some names in the book but he can’t talk about what else he overheard heard because it was so “explosive“? Did it just not fit the narrative that you’re trying to push? For me personally it’s really hard to trust someone who so easily showed people they in bed with in a negative light, while alluding to other information and other people, but not naming them, or being specific about whatwas said by these other unnamed people. Why even mention it if you’re not gonna talk about it?

Civilian officers are the ones who have never fought in their life but are only to happy to spill our blood, or our brothers/fathers/sons blood, fighting for their little empire/ideological dreams. McChrystal was respected by his men on the ground.
