    I'm Dessard and I'll tell you that what he showed us really works. I've kept working on the angle of release and have really added 75 feet to my throw. Start low and release at a hard angle and the disc will lay out to a perfect S.

    a good way to practice your stroke is to get a dish towel and go through the motion. you want it to make a good whipping noise in the air. the better the noise the more power your getting to your hand

    I have been playing with no formal instruction for about 15 years. Not a pro - but I thought I could wing it.... I watched this video and no kidding - improved 75-100 Ft on my drives. Also the way it is taught to throw, even though the disc goes much further, it's much easier on my shoulder. Five Stars - Two thumbs up! Thanks for the advice.

    Discraft's video's, including this one, are my warm ups before going out to play serious. If you are like me you will notice a large change in your game if you watch this and others just before going out to play. The little tips are fresh in your head. Thanks for the tips, because of them I am not beating, but competing with low level pro's though I'm pretty new.

    Great tips that can definitely improve a player over time, given by someone who has all the authority to do so...but is anyone actually comparing the 'before and after'? Thrower 1 First throw (before instruction): 02:40 Just past 300 foot line Second throw after Marty's tips: 05:15 Lands in the same exact spot, but Marty starts saying "75 feet!!!" before it even lands! 300 plus 75 would equal 375, which would mean that the disc should've landed at the top of the hill. Am I not seeing something, here? Third throw: 05:40 Again, same distance...but for some reason, Marty keeps praising the throw and for some reason everyone goes with it?? "Now you have a drive! You've gained Buddy!!" As if the guy didn't have a drive before this? He threw the same distance! Marty seems a little too over-zealous to sell his tips, here. Thrower 2 and 3 Who knows, they don't show 'the before,' and in the last guy's case, they don't show the after... wtf?

    The way that understable disc flatten out when you throw on a hyzer is the pop you put into your wrist. The harder the pop and the smoother the release the more likely you will actually make the disc straighten out. However, if you hyzer to much or dont have as much pop, your disc will fade left pretty quickly. The best thing to do is get your pop down throwing understable disc flat, then once you have a good snap and the discs start turning over slightly adjust the angle more towards hyzer.

    I've been playing for several years, but my average drive is still in the 250 foot range (seems like every person on the internet throws 350 feet, but i never see them at the courses :P ). I had some issues gripping the disc too hard, and the higher throw...changing to the lower throwing motion and fixing my grip has definitely made my throws more consistent, straighter, and w/ more spin for bigger "s" turns. Great Video! Thanks!

    Hey sportdisc I really enjoy watching your videos they are always helpful. Is there anyway that you can put up a video of someone explaining how to throw an understable, overstable and stable disc? In this video the pro talks about changing his throw depending on the disc, I was just wondering if he could explain how and what he changes when throwing an understable vs an overstable disc. Thanks for reading

    i've been lacking power and distance in my backhand drives and have been trying to unlock the secrets to better throws. i was starting to think it was the discs i use, and i throw a discraft esp xl, and elite z xpress, both of which are "long distance". i think this video may help, although i've tried the knuckle grip and completely lose control of my throws. it's a lot to work on but i think it all comes with practice. footwork and body movement is the most important factor, i think. taijutsu

    Straight as in where you aimed or straight as in the disc tends to turn while flying? The latter will naturally happen when you start throwing harder.

  • @christopherb27
    @christopherb2712 жыл бұрын

    Yea, pull out the Force! Use a very overstable disc when throwing into headwinds, or even crosswinds. Headwinds push your disc up then down often. Throw the disc low. You can put anhyzer on it but be sure it will come back!! If the wind is at your back, wind can push the disc it up, and you can achieve more glide, it might not flex out untill it's to late too. It's best to use the driver your the most comfortable with, and put extra hyzer on it, maybe more height if your in a field.

    if the wind is coming up behind you it will make the disc go higher and farther, if it is coming toward you it will drive the disc up and back down like throwing it too high, and if its coming from side to side it will make the disc more likely to flex, turn over, or wobble out depending on the throw. you just have to look up how to combat this, its too much to type

    They weren't all that bad too begin with lol. His tips probably did help in the long run though. My throw is very unique. Nobody I know throws like me, and I usually throw 400+ feet. Distance isn't everything though. Most courses are Par 3s, which means 300-400 feet holes. Approach and putting are more than 50% of disc golf. I don't how good they are at those things, but my guess is they need to work on that more than anything.

    Try this! Instead of focusing on turn around, long pulls, and all these confusing things. Its all in the wrist, not the arm. Just stand sideways and develope a twisting back and forth motion to find your rythym. Put the disc out off your chest with a power grip. Small rim and big diameter disc are easier to feel the snap. Now rock your wrist back and forth opening and closing your palm finding rythym. Combine the two now. Dont throw for a minute two find your timing. DO NOT THROW IT, FLICK IT.
