This is a case of the Rage mode working like Rage of the Titans from God of War 2, except... only for the Blades of Athena, while NERFING other weapons. Now, the nerf is happening becuz the Rage acts like a stupid bot who thinks "Okay, I need to boost this weapon to a certain extent". The Blades of Exile are maxed, they get regressed back to the limit that the rage sets on it. Let's say the Rage of Sparta boosts your Blades to level 3 damage. If you have level 5 damage, activating rage to "amplify" takes back the damage to level 3. But this is still not valid. I tested it on level 1 Blades of Exile. No boost whatsoever. I even upgraded a side weapon like the Bow of Apollo to see if the rage starts amplifyin' from there. Nothing. It is a very weird thing. How is it that it's only (negatively) affecting the maxed out Blades? Why isn't it boosting the level 1 Blades of Exile? How come it's boosting Blades of Athena (that deal lvl 1 Blades of Exile damage)? This needs more testing. I'll upload or update this comment if I find anything else. Edit: Just did more testing. Interesting results. So, it turns out Rage of Sparta CAN flare up Blades of Exile attacks too, but it's a bit iffy. You have to max out one of the 3 big secondary weapons (Cestus, Claws, Nemesis Whip). Once maxed out, the Rage of Sparta starts amplifying the damage like Rage of the Titans does. So, without rage mode flare up, a normal Skeleton in Tartarus took 6 Spirits, got crippled, and died with 3 lights. WITH Rage mode flare up and Cestus maxed out, a Skeleton took 4 spirits... and died. Interesting development on the discovery, but this saddens me in a way. This can never be useful unless a specific run is made for it (Blade of Exile Only NUR+). Which will still be an underwhelming run. Just sad.

Happy to see people are actually finding techs and niche things in GOW games

Similar idea as gow 2 right (activating rage right as your doing your slam)

Yes, but it's way weirder than in that game. GoW2 boosts your primary to level 3 and you secondary weapon to level 2. In here, this only boosts Blades of Athena, and NERFS Blades of Exile.

@@ExtremeGameplays1 Very probably just a bug where they fixed it for everything except the NG+ interaction with BoA (with its 1.0 changing to the modifier of BoO, which is MAX with BoA since it is lvl5). I just forget the RoS modifier as it compares with other weapons in their MAX or MIN stats should they be affected. You reported lvl1 BoE were not changed, but I forget if you did this while other weapons were upgraded (let alone MAX).

Feels like some mechanic was in development, but got scrapped. Or maybe something leftover from the previous game somehow bugged it's way into existence.

Read the pinned comment and you'll get even more surprised. This is the same mechanic from GoW2, but messed up becuz of the Rage of Sparta leveling up system. The Rage of Sparta gets SLIGHTLY stronger if a weapon gets maxed out in game.

Gow 3 athena's blades' runs are gonna go hard after this one

In GoS, Thera's Bane also weakens BoA. You can test this when doing hanging attacks. A hanging Legionnaire dies at 2 hits from a max level BoA, but with Thera's Bane, it takes 3. Unlike GoW3 however, Thera's Bane's weakening is justifiable because its OP as hell.

Damn nice discovery, devs were so good they added the GoW2 rage slam trick to the GoW2 blades

Just did more testing. Replied on your channel. This testing was done on Hard. Just forgot to say it in the video. But the mechanic remains the same. 6 Spirits without rage flare up cripple a Skelly on VH. 4 Spirits with rage flare up kill a Skelly on VH.

Do you know if Blade of Olympus does better damage than BoA? I only ask because I think activating rage as the attack lands makes that hit deal Blade of Olympus damage and the damage dealt by the Blade of Olympus is just generally better than the BoA (This is speculation as I don’t know any exact damage values). Which will also explain why BoE are nerfed because the BoO deals less damage than the BoE. Hopefully what I wrote makes sense if not, I blame the fact that it’s 3am rn. Edit: The original comment did not make sense :( Also blame KZread for the goofy ahh layout nothing I can do about it.
