    The rubber feet to hold the paddle are a fantastic idea. Going to try that on my canoe.

    @@flbasspaddler oh no I meant the rubber feet (made for PC's/laptops etc) I use a double bladed paddle in my solo canoe and the paddle moves around a lot in the wind. Those rubber feet would be perfect, and I won't have to drill into the canoe!

    @@jmarg76 Oh, gotcha…lol. I have a Kayak Kushion that actually raises me up a bit so I couldn’t rest my paddle on the padded arm rests because it would hit my legs and not sit flush. When I tried to rest my paddle on the sides, it would slide forward and make noise…that is what gave me the idea of the rubber feet.

    Hi, I really enjoy the videos and just subscribed. I am currently using a 10ft. walmart yack, but am considering the Discovery or a regular canoe. Two questions. First - is there room for some sort of fish cooler/bag in the case of keeping a few? (Not a fan of stringers on Florida rivers). Also, how well would it transport on a roof top? I assume the seat back would fold down. Thanks again for your reviews and vids.

  • @flbasspaddler

    @flbasspaddler

    Thank You for the questions. As far as a fish bag, there is plenty of space in both the front and rear of the kayak even with a crate for your fishing gear. Secondly, while the seat back does not fold completely again the bottom, it does fold enough to roof top the canoe. I hope this helps.

    I have changed my seat as the seat is level with top of the canoe and easy to remove as this allows for taller people too use the canoe

    It’s more like a sit inside kayak then sit on top kayak. I think you are forgetting the multiple types of kayaks out there. In fact, the sit inside came long before the sit on top or what you want to call fish and kayaks.

  • @flbasspaddler

    I appreciate that, but I am aware of the multiple types of kayaks out there. Yes, this craft is closer to a SINK due to the lower seat unlike the original Discovery which had the higher, more traditional canoe seat which is closer to the top rail, like a SOT.

    Add a spacer and a longer bolt for the back paddle mount. Raise it up about an inch and it should seat over the rest.

    Nice informative video. I live in Lake County, Florida. Been researching Canoes. Is it stable on Lakes? I like it because it's light and would be easy to put on a car roof rack.

    Thank you for your kind words. It has been great on lakes, even with a mild chop from wind. I actually have another video filmed on a extremely windy day at Lake Fellsmere. It’s just 56 pounds so car topping it should not be a problem at all. I absolutely love this canoe!

    The paddle tether is the Rogue Fishing Company “Defender” rod and paddle leash. I have it attached to a YakAttack Vertical Tie Down. As far as the camera mount, that is the YakAttack Panfish. I hope this helps.

    You can actually move those foot braces toward you without using your hands at all. Simply press the side of your foot against the side of the brace and pull toward you. It’ll slide up the rail with ease. No need to lean forward or hook your feet around the brace. Great design.
