I love these. I'm really glad there are still new episodes coming. Please consider to continue to make them, although it would be without Dr. Keller. It is so important to see how the whole Bible is one complete story about the Gospel.

That was great! One of the best so far. Sobering to note that so many of the kings failed to "finish well." Therefore glad he mentioned Manasseh---someone with whom I identify. Even He was shown mercy by God. Extraordinary! Chronicles' emphasis on forgiveness (in contrast to an earlier emphasis on obedience) was most heartening. I need a book that starts from the assumption that I'm a sinner---but wants to be forgiven. Like Cranmer's Book of Common Prayer, it's a book that understands me. Bless you Tim. (And all condolences to Kathy & the family.)

I saw the movie Oppenheimer yesterday. It was about how brilliance of men created atomic bomb that could destroy whole humanity. Tim Keller was used by God to point people to Christ so that they would be saved.

2:55 God Is not mocked your sins will find you out. God created a world with his order. When we sin, we sin against God and creation. There are consequences when we sin and turn away from God

Chronicles doesn't end with release of Jehoiachin (that's in 2 Kings), as per 5:43, but with the decree from Cyrus to rebuild the temple. The temple stands as a material sign that God's promises to David and Solomon, the builders of the temple, still stand. This would have ben a powerful encouragement to the embattled post-exilic community in Jerusalem and Yehud. Similarly, the protection mediated through the temple in 2 Chr 20 when neighbours threaten and Judah has only prayer and fasting - and some well-aimed SAMs, I mean, psalms. 😊

5:52 Tim confused the end of 2 Kings with the end of 2 Chron. 2 Kings 25:30 mentions the release of Jehoiachin.
