I remember getting inside that last mosque in Aksaray, it is one of those mosques with very elaborate interior, it's truly beautiful.

Hello. As far as I know, it was named Arap Camii (Arab Mosque) after the Arabic who settled here for a short time battling with Byzantine Empire. It was the first Muslims to actually try to conquer Constantinople. I have visit that mosque and I have read outside it as well as inside it that it was intially a mosque, built in 715. As the conquest only resulted in taking the Galata area back then, it was considered a failure so they retreated. It was converted into a Catholic Church afterwards (Which is very interesting considering the Constantinople was a Greek Orthodox city, I would love to know how?). After the conquest of Mohamme the Conquerer (Fatih), it was converted into a mosque (again). Actually in the backyard you were walking in you could see a tomb allegedly for one of the early Arabs who tried to conquer Constantinople (Maslamah ibn Abd-Almalik, of Ummayad Empire).
