If you're looking for RPMs, Makita is claiming 800 rpms and 35lb-ft on their 12v and 20v ratchets. The anvil can be changed from 3/8 to 1/4. If it does what they claim it would be pretty good. Sometimes breaking a bolt loose by hand isn't practical. Would love to see a new test for the ratchet where you have a nut that is to tight to get off instead of getting it manually you spin the ratchet up and put it on while spinning. Also air ratchets and snapon electrics. Edit: the long neck ratchets are different tools from the standard and I feel like you're hurting the quality of the data (which is overall some of the best on youtube) by labling them as the standard size on the chart. Maybe they do perform exactly the same, but that can't be known that until they have been tested.

The durofix Amazon reviews seem to be part of trend on Amazon where things are rated oddly high. Almost like the reviews are being doctored.

I've been a mechanic for 42 years. A Nissan mastertech. As a mechanic I can tell you those really long rachets just don't fit everywhere. My daughters gave me that Husky 3 years ago,( they both work at Home Depot lol), I used it everyday for 3 years! It's actually awesome. It fits almost everywhere my snap-on rachets do and running nuts and bolts off, even rusty one,( I live in NY , we use a lot of salt on the roads, is just so much easier. Frankly I was surprised how well it works. Just used it yesterday to build a giant backyard playground at my son's house. Plus it's usually on sale. I think it was 70 dollars last time. I love it!.

​@@gearjunkie3402 I use that husky one as well as the two snapon ones (long reach and shorter 3/8 - both 75ft lbs). I've found that little husky can squeeze into some really odd areas my snapons can't. However, if you want to break your wrist or fingers from insane torque coming out of those, the 2 snapons are the way to go lol.

@@strikeforcek9149 I have snap-on air rachet too which can smack your hand against things if you're not careful. Also have an Ingersoll impact air rachet which is more powerful than anything I've seen but it's so loud , lol, l don't use it anymore.

I remember picking up that huskey ratchet for $50 and it came with a small socket set. Insane deal, I wish they could bring that back

I think I paid around $100 for mine. I like it the best because there is no battery to worry about pushing against with my hand. I don't use my Milwaukee anymore because the Husky is better for my application.

I feel you should add stoppages to the score somehow. Speaking for myself i would be waaay more comfortable with a slower but consistent tool rather then the one that randomly stops so i have to take it off the nut and wait for the brainbox to start spinning the drive again. The second one will be yote in the trash within days.

Not a bad idea, but the only occurrence of a stoppage they've had so far was in a tool that already sits at the bottom of the list. It's definitely a quality that would keep me from buying it, but if someone sees that final ranking chart and is considering still buying that tool, they probably deserve its inferior user experience.

Agreed. The stoppages should just be counted in the total time because that's still how long it took to finish. Maybe give it two or three runs in total, then average it out for a scoring time. It seems the Durofix is so bad in this regard it doesn't just stall, it actually turns off such that you have to remove the battery to reset it? I can't imagine it hitting overtemp on such a small run, but maybe that's happening. Either way definite dealbreaker with this tool. Durofix needs to...fix that lol.

I recently got the Hercules extended rear 3/8 with a 4ah battery and I honestly have no complaints, just used it to install some coil overs on my car and it did everything I need it to do which is remove bolts quickly not rip the bolts loss like my bigger impact does

Look man I don't really care how my harbor freight cordless ratchet specs out in these tests, I'm just happy when there are nuts and bolts I can reach with it. I've gone so far as engineering three different sized extensions and two swivels to get on a bolt that a wrench could easily reach. That's what makes my day, I get all excited about it when I don't have to wrench on things manually. If it takes an extra 6 seconds to take that bolt out, I'm good, because otherwise it would take me five minutes with a wrench.

I would LOVE to see the Skil 12v cordless ratchet tested. I saw the where the Skil 12v right angle impact driver performed VERY well. I hope the ratchet does equally as well.

I picked my Husky up for $65 on sale at Home Depot and I've beat the heck out of it! The battery lasts quite a while on it and I wish Husky would make a long head version of it. It's definitely not a bad choice at that price if you can catch a sale, but even at full price it doesn't seem like a bad choice.

I just bought the Hercules Extended reach. I retired from the Navy 11-92 and I retired A&P mechanic from a MRO. I used it to get a Hard to reach bolts on my Harley Davidson. Works good to me.

This had absolutely no issue removing or reinstalling the lug nuts and it took off the axle nut without any struggle. Sounds like it's got some muscle to it. Time will tell

TTC is easily one of my favorite channels now. Call me silly if you want but it gives me a little spark of joy every time I hear you use the terminology (I guess some would call it "lingo" or "jargon") that I started to think nobody else used. Beans, ugga duggas, rippems, buggered, convince, gorilla, torture, all of these terms have a different meaning on the shop floor than they do anywhere else and I love hearing you guys use them 'properly' ^_^ P.S. Let's see some more sockets and bits get tortured. Seems like there's an endless amount of probably and most definitely gimmicky sets out there that need to prove their worth.

I picked the husky up with a socket set for $49 a couple years back. It’s a good tool for the dollar. Great home mechanic tool. The battery last for days of use.

I really just like to use these (the long neck versions) for running bolts in and out that are hard to reach. They are very effective at saving your hands in tight spaces. I bought a "KIMO" brand one last year and it's been one of the most useful tools in my garage. Never expected much power from it, but it does a surprisingly good job at breaking loose small/moderate hardware.

Loving the ratchet content, I just replaced the shocks on my Toyota Tacoma and my most used tool was my short head Ryobi cordless ratchet. I even used it with a 3/8 to 1/2 inch adapter because I didn’t have a 19mm in 3/8 drive and it did great. I’ve used it for over a year now and it’s never disappointed me. Just put it on a nut and start smacking the battery and it’ll do the job of a breaker bar if I’m too lazy to go grab one (this happens quite often). If a bolt is torqued to less than 80 ft-lbs then I’ll just use the Ryobi instead of needing a bar.

I own the 3/8 fuel and the 3/8 extended reach fuel I also own the AC Delco 3/8 extended reach and AC Delco 1/4 and my first choice is almost always the extended reach AC Delco because it has a much smaller profile and get into hard to reach places better than the fuel

The Hercules is a underrated tool especially with its quarter inch Drive mechanical head and 3/8 Drive output . I can see a lot of people being disappointed in this tool because they exceeded its mechanical limitations being a 3/8 Drive with more less 1/4" drive guts . I personally own this tool in 1/4" drive as well as 3/8 and have been very happy with it as its very comfortable tool to use as far as balance and feel. It does slow down and struggle with Rusty fasteners but I mainly uses for tight access areas as well as general use and have had very good luck with it . I recently did a conversion on my 2559-20 with the high-speed 3/8 anvil and swapping the pawl but at $239 plus $40 for a Anvil set I think the Hercules has it beat especially if you buy the warranty. Bwt Milwaukee conversion on the extended 1/4" ratchet 2559-20 is the cat's ass.

With many of us invested in Makita batteries I am surprised you don't have a blue specimen, yet. I suggest the Makita XRW01Z as a versatile choice as the included 1/4 insert allows smaller sockets in tight places like under dashboards, etc. The insert system would also allow folks to create specialized inserts if needed and still have tight quarters ability without the endless adapters needed. If Makita doesn't offer a 1/4 HEX insert soon then I will make one. While I applaud your testing criteria to included as much info as possible - I urge folks not to lose focus of what these tools are for. Also, I encounter many times when there is almost ZERO room to swing a ratchet so tooth count/granularity is an important datum. What good is a course ratchet when I can't move enough to catch the next tooth? Anyway, great channel!

I too would have liked to see a Makita in the mix. All my other cordless tools are Makita and I really don't want to start another stack of batteries.

These tests are very informative, and I really enjoy them. I do believe that a scoring system normalized by cost would be more useful. Someone buying a tool for his profession will not care too much about price but a weekend mechanic really wants the best value. Beyond this, the most important things are durability and warranty/service. The latter of these is only subjective since we only have owner reports on forums to go by.

I personally own the hercules because for me the extended reach and small head on the tool allows it to fit in wayy more tight spaces compared with the milwaukee.

With the 2Ah battery it's very well balanced too. I have the 2557 (std. length, std. speed) Fuel, and not only is the head bulky it's also very heavy on that side. The Herc with the 2Ah battery is a couple hundred grams heavier than the M12 *w/o* a battery, but the Herc actually *feels* lighter in the hand by comparison. Just got the Herc but have a feeling I will be using it much more than the Milwaukee.

and the snapon never gets a look in, in the past its been the only one you can reliably rebuild...but at the minute the parts are forcing me to try other ones, i ended up witha sealey 10.8v cos it came with a kit of baby impact etc and im only doing bikes at the minute.

The long reach wrenches are a God send and a must have item in the toolbox. I purchased mine in order to get at out of the way fasteners. I don't use mine as a torque wrench but rather as a "high speed" wrench which is was designed for.

I have 4 herc ratchets, short and long 1/4 and 3/8. Use them about daily as an auto repair mechanic. They have performed great for about 5 months now other than I managed to twist the long 1/4 socket holder off when pulling a 455 pontiac at a salvage yard. Transmission crossmember bolts were tight!

I have the herc long reach ratchets in both 1/4 and 3/8. They have been great so far. For the price it’s hard to beat them. The smaller head size has been very beneficial a few times.

455 Pontiac -- what a classic. My first engine swap (at 16 y/o) was a 1967 Firebird. Pulled 6 cyl OHC and install 455. It felt like the fastest car in town. We had some fun and sold it a year later. The guy that bought it said, "Wait a minute, the secondaries aren't opening." He fixed it on the spot, and unleashed a hidden DRAGON. We drove that car a year with only the Quadrajet primaries 😆.

Awesome--was hoping to see these tested and you did! :) Problem with extended reach ratchets is the top tier brands' are all very expensive. I have an M12 2557 but the extended 2560 is just way too pricey, and never comes on promos to "hack" it lower. Looking around, came down to three models which were affordable for a DIYer--the same Durofix, the AC Delco ARW1218, and the Hercules. The Delco can be had at a pretty good price in a combo *with* the standard length *and* a free 4Ah battery (which Durofix/Delco *does* have now), but the killer was the Delco has a *non-variable* paddle--it's either on or off. The Durofix is more expensive, doesn't come with the free 4Ah battery, but has a variable trigger and the lofty specs. But I watched another video and it was pretty clear it was not performing nearly as well as claimed, so not surprising you found the same. Glad I knocked that one off the list! Ended up with the Hercules--bought yesterday with the 25% coupon--it wouldn't stack with the tool/batt/charger discount so I bought them separately (tool, 2Ah, charger) totalling ~$116 pre-tax . Based on your results here I think I made a good choice--solid bang for the buck for an extended :) On a side note I would have probably gotten the Ryobi HP instead *if* the 3/8" had come in the Ryobi Days promo (able to "hack" for a lower tool price) but for some reason only the 1/4" was offered in there, so it got knocked off the list as well.

I bought a husky 2 years ago as a entry level racket for mobile automotive repair and it's awesome, may not break every nut loose but it spins them off and saves my wrist.

I love my high speed Milwaukee… I bought it as soon as I knew it was getting released last year. A small head is why everyone loves the none fuel version which is why the fuel high speed is a near perfect cordless ratchet because not only is the head small it can zip bolts on and off at a lightning pace. Honestly electric ratchets are only for assembly or disassembly with a little physical nudge to loosen up bolts so torque is pointless in those times. If you have the space just zip stuff off will a compact impact.

I got the husky as a Christmas gift and I love the thing it may not be as fast but it works well. Best thing about it is the battery seems to last forever. Grant it I don't use it everyday but I do use it a lot, fixing my car at home or assembling furniture and what not and that battery lasted me about 6 months before needing to recharge it. Definitely a good little tool for diy guys.

Bought the Husky 12v cordless on clearance for like $50. Couldn't be happier at that price point.

I picked the Husky up on sale for $65 at Home Depot after watching Project Farm's ratchet test. It's nice to see the purchase wasn't in vain! I absolutely love the thing and it's got enough "beans" for my work as a home mechanic. I'd absolutely buy it at the $95 price point as well if I were to do it again... and I might! My dad loves the thing, too and he was a mechanic for years. If you need/want a cheap, knockaround cordless ratchet from a brand-name, you really can't go wrong with it, imo.

Hercules rat hey is pretty great. I bought it as a starter but found my self still using after I upgraded to the snap on due to it's small head size

This is such a niche tool for me and I've never been a fan of the husky but it actually seems perfect for what I'd use it for, sitting in the van for a few months then pulling it out again for a small job. The inbuilt battery is nice, feels less like they're trying to get me to buy into another battery platform

I have the same Hercules long neck and love it. The price is good and the head is compact to squeeze up into tighter areas. It does stick out like a sore thumb among all my Milwaukee and Snap On cordless tools, but I'm happy with it

Thanks for this testing series. I'm sure most of us have been waiting for you guys to test ratchets. I have the Milwaukee high speed and the Husky. I like the Husky for its simplicity and wish their were a long reach version. The Milwaukee is great with ideal conditions but will slow down dramatically when it sees trouble. Overall a great ratchet but will require hand turning in a professional environment.

Just found the channel and loving it so far. Great to see someone exploring and answering the questions everyone thinks about in the shop, but doesn't usually take the time to test. Any plans for testing standard drills without impact for torque claims?

I have a Makita XRW01Z and I have been pretty happy with it, but I have always felt it could be a lot better. The air ratchets (like the Astro 1128 and AirCAT 805-HT) are the only other powered ratchets I have and for comparison I think the noise of the pneumatics might make it sound like they do more than they really do. I would love to see how the Makita LXT stacks up. I am heavy into their system and I know several of their other tools are rather low in the pack. I only have one plumbing tool in Milwaukee, but am impressed by the DeWalt performance, too. If Makita keeps losing, I might need to start investing in another brand.

Try out the Mac Tools cordless ratchet. I have the 1/4 inch one, and it does not disappoint. Many coworkers have the Snap-On and Matco cordless ratchets and prefer mine overall. I'd like to see it compared to the Dewalt 20v as well, since i just purchased the 12v version and the overall head size is a disappointment but if a big battery can help it out that would be interesting.

I’ve had the husky for over 3 years. It has worked flawlessly, the battery life is excellent. It was $60 new when I bought it. I have used on trucks, cars, bobcat skid steer, mini excavator. Just all around handy. Mainly saves time from using a hand ratchet.

I've had the Husky that came with a set of regular and deepwell sockets that I paid $59.99 for since the day before it technically came out at home depot on Christmas a few years ago. Saw it online, drove to HD, took one to the register and when it didn't ring up I showed the lady their site on my phone and she punched it in. Rung me out and I've been beating on it ever since. Holds a good charge for a built in battery

Yes mine came with sockets too. I've never used them lol. And I think it was the same 59 dollars.

3 years ago I broke my Milwaukee mandrel (non brushless) so I picked up a Husky for $65 on sale around Christmas to get me by until the replacement parts came in. It was months later until I actually installed the replacement mandrel on the Milwaukee because there was surprisingly little difference. I also never ran the battery down in a single day in a professional setting. Two other guys in the shop ran down and picked up the last few in stock after borrowing it and using it. For $65 at the time was an amazing deal.

I've been considering getting one of these so this video couldn't have come at a better time 💯

You might know there's some other tool channels that show the tool truck brands are not really any better than store bought brands. The tool trucks only charge more because they bring it to you.

@@Modine. brother Im a mechanic. I know what works and what doesn’t work. These channels don’t really get to use them out in the real world. Snapon is the best for cause they just work and work well! Milwaukee was a big let down.

But you know I went to Home Depot in the summer of 1998 just as I started my mechanic career and all these Husky tools haven't let me down in the 24 years I've had them. What other tool brands (besides Milwaukee) have you tried?

You should do an Amazon special for ratchets, just like you did with the torque wrenches. All those same brands too, Aoben, Avid Power, Kimo, etc. Are they be worth the risk to save a few cents? (I'm assuming not, but it'll make for an entertaining episode nonetheless)

That really depends just because you pay more doesn't mean a tool is better take snap ons power tools vs Milwaukee for what snap on wants for 1 you can own 2 with 2 batteries and 2 chargers. Sometimes less is better (milwaukee).

Well then you have Milwaukee--high price (relative to other "retail store brands"), [usually] great performance, and very good quality. But, they have the *absolute worst* warranty and customer support I've ever come across personally--not worth the paper it's written on! That said, I haven't dealt with that many power tool brands' warranties. A guy I worked with, his dad runs a construction company and said a lot of these "pro" brands are like that though--warranty is a pain. You may have to pay a few extra bucks for an HF warranty past 90 days, but should you do that, you just take the tool and they swap it for a new one with basically no questions asked. Milwaukee, they pretend to give you a "5yr warranty" but you have to jump through a bunch of hoops--take a day off work (because of the severely limited hours and days of operation of the places you have to go), run around to like 3-4 different places (all of which tell you they don't *actually* do Milwaukee warranty work despite Milwaukee saying otherwise)...and then finally have Milwaukee tell you it's "not covered" under warranty in the end anyway 🙄I would actually rather pay HF $20 or so for a couple years' of no-questions warranty and actually *have* that warranty (or just understand there is no warranty after 90 days otherwise), than even think about Milwaukee "warranty" again. I'll still buy Milwaukee at times, but with the understanding there's no warranty at all.

@@rolandm9750 I know guys who in the shop who had their milwaukee just stop working. They sent it in. Within 2weeks they had brand new one. I don't know of a single person who hasn't got another milwaukee tool within the first 2 weeks if their tool was still under warranty. Snap on is the real joke had to warranty 2 tools from them clowns and it's been 2months and still have got shit back. And the return was shipping by Milwaukee was paid for all they did was send it in.

Before watching. Ill just say this. I have the same Hercules and love it. Have ran it next to m fuel and might not be the same but does what this shade tree needs. Oh and speed wise. Maybe you cover it but the herc I can get turning so slow i can calmly count the 1/4 turns

I got one of the husky’s when they had them on sale for $60, for the size and battery capacity it’s hard to beat, real world it runs fasteners on or off fast and the battery lasts a long time, It’ll go all day without a problem, charge it at night and you’re good to go the next morning. It’s not gonna drive a lag bolt, break a wheel stud loose or zip fasteners off super fast but if you’re sticking your arm in an awkward spot one handed with your tongue in just the right position trying to remove a fastener it’s a good tool for the job

I bought the Husky on a whim, because I had a gift card and it was on sale. I think I got it for $59. It’s not a pro tool, so it really doesn’t compare to the higher end brands. But for stuff around my house it has performed admirably. I like it for the value and it’s compact size. After a year the battery is still going strong, I charge it every two weeks or so and has never died on me.

I have the husky as well. Got it on a simulator deal and used it extensively rebuilding the 1.6 in my Miata it worked for all I needed and only charged it once the whole rebuild

Outstanding video as always. Suggestions for other cordless ratchet would be the Skil 12 V and the Craftsman 20 V.

That husky ratchet is an absolute gem hiding in plain sight. I had used one for about a year before i bought into m12. It never let me down, and it was a pleasant surprise. A great buy, even when not on sale

Yeah I went to home depot not intending on getting a cordless ratchet and walked out with it on sale for 60ish. One of the best purchases ever and i knew nothing about it, just took a chance. Good little tool.

I've been wanting a 1/4 long reach and I've had pretty good luck with the original Milwaukee 3/8 plus I already have batteries and chargers. The compact head on the Hercules is very tempting though. I'm just hesitant to rely on it holding up to daily use

I think we should see the original brushed Milwaukee. It would give a brushed vs brushless direct comparison. I also would be willing to bet that it's the one that the most people have, given how old it is and how it's almost always one of the "free tools" on Home Depot's sales.

I've had the durofix/acdelco arw1201 57ftlb ratchet for a few years and I've been pretty happy with it. Haven't felt the need to switch to Milwaukee even though I already use M12 tools. Especially considering the difference in their cost.

The Durofix is excellent for small 5mm/6mm diameter threaded bolts what it was meant for. Plus it is way more compact and gets in tight places. I got the A/C delco other tools (Durofix) and work great.

I love my M12 3/8dr ratchet. I do mobile mechanic work. It has its perks I also have the M12 drimmel with 2amp,4amp and 6amp batteries. I use a dewalt XR 1/2 high torque with 2 5amp batteries for suspension.

TTC, as you point out, the no-load RPM is a meaningless performance number. But since it is listed on the box, it would be interesting to measure it, just to see if, or how badly, each manufacturer is lying. (If you already did this I missed it.)

Yeah PF tests the no-load RPM so if it's one tested on that channel, you might be able to see the result there. But the use of nylocks is interesting because then you could have a standard test both ways--test the no-load RPM, then test the RPM driving a same-size nylock nut to give a "load RPM" number as well.

Love these ratchet videos and I cant wait for more brands of ratchets to be tested. That being said I would lo e to see some 1/4" impacts tested, matco has a popular one that claims only 60 ft-lbs I believe, and milwaukee makes one almost the exact same size that claims 100 ft-lbs. I work in collision repair and from what I've seen these 1/4" impacts are the most used impacts in the body shop. Also I have heard that the matco and makita 1/4" are the same impact branded differently, I would love to know I thats true

I own both of those 1/4 guns and can tell you the Milwaukee is definitely stronger and a lot faster, that being said I would like to see numbers to see by how much

Non fuel m12 pretty please!!! I feel like that with how they are included in so many kits as a freebie but are priced at $149 vs $179 for either of the fuels, is it worth it. Also would like to see how much hand applied torque it could withstand since that seems to be the weak point on it. Project farm tested the rpm on it and it was above advertised, around 500 rpm (no load) if I recall correctly. Great video as always! Keep up the great work.

Yeah, I know when I bought mine a lot of recommendationa we're for the non-fuel m12 as it's just so much easier to fit in different places than the fuel. Torque obviously is less, but still comparable to the low-buck ones in this episode. Have heard some complaints about it being fragile, so the manual test could be illuminating. Almost should split up the long ratchets from the short ones (kind of like the different torque categories for impacts) as there's a good chance you might want both for different jobs.

I love using the Husky for things like putting furniture together and working on scooters, mini bikes and lawn equipment but I wish it had a removable battery and came with 1 or 2 extra so you could use it continuously.

I think I used the husky for a whole year before I took the charger out of plastic bag. Given the jobs were only 2 - 10 minutes each and maybe used every other month, it was still impressive.

Great video. Would love to see some of the tool truck brands being tested. Such a snap on brute or Matco.

I'd love to see the plain Jane m12 brushed Milwaukee to see where it stands up. They include it in so many different kits for promos or bonuses. I like it for my farm/professional homeowner duties; but I've wondered if the fuel ones are worth the extra cheddar Thanks TTC!

I'm an air compressor mechanic by trade and have owned both. I have small hands and prefer the brushed model. I gave the larger more powerful brushless model to my son, a big strapping lad who works on heavy equipment.

Great and informative video as always. I'd like to see how the Craftsman 20v ratchet stacks up to that Ryobi as well as how the Skil 12v matches up to the Husky and Hercules. Different note, if you would like to throw the Skil 12v impact wrench on the dyno I've got one I could lend you for a while. -Charlie

Before I watch. I got the husky electric rachet for home use. They wanted $160cad for it, but the dude at the till gave it to me for $85 when I said I wasn't paying that much. What a game changer. I love using the damn thing

It appears that you have the Milwaukee, Rigid and Ryobi on the list but not Hart. I would like to see that tool given a try if possible. Let's see if TTI can harness the power of Milwaukee and stuff it in Hart for an affordable price.

This is about what I expected from the husky, decent enough, especially for the price. I have considered getting something with a replaceable battery, but find that I don't use it enough in a day to warrant replacing it. Especially since I got it for $50 iirc. That said, I'd like to see the makitas, since I bought into that ecosystem and the convertible 1/4 to 3/8 head looks like a nice feature.

Replacing the battery in the Husky isn't difficult. It's probably just a standard lithium cell.

You should try to get a hold of the 20v Dewalt now that it's out. I'm curious on how it stacks vs some of the other 18v.

i used millwaukee ext ratchet 3/8 and 3/8 impact for automotive/commercial hvac it just works

I got a tiny 7.2v 1/4 AC delco for taking bumpers off in the body shop. I was surprised when I can strip the whole front end, breaking free big bolts too, the body is nice and rigid.

I will say I absolutely love my husky impact ratchet. I had a earthquake ratchet that someone stole while I was working so I picked up the husky from home Depot and never looked back. I use mine literally everyday all day. Never any battery life issues etc. Will gladly buy another when it goes out(if ever at this rate lol)

I’ve had a craftsman ratchet since Christmas and it’s been awesome for cinching down headstuds, might be worth a test?

I have the Harbor Freight Earthquake ratchet from quite a while ago. Brushed and heavy, but has never really let me down! I doubt it would compete in power, but it's been reliable as hell with a few spurts of cleaning and light grease in the mechanism. The Durofix (and ACDelco) are essentially the second generation of the Earthquake and I'm both disappointed and unsurprised that they don't really compete. I actually don't recall my Earthquake having stoppages, likely because it's purely analog. I have some air ratchets in mind to buy, so I'm curious if you have air ratchets in the pipeline!

Large batteries inhibit the attraction of ratchets. The small and compact 1.5ah battery of my M12 allows me to get to places my fat hands and fingers can't freely move. If I need more sustained torque or speed, then I'm using a different tool. Short and quick then off the trigger. Remember, these are not designed for lug nuts(torque) or deck screws(rpm).

Just striped 3 3/8 tapcons this morning with the 1/2". Out come the cordless ratchet to the rescue. I think head size is the most important for cordless ratchets.

I may be kind of a fanboy, but can you test some of the other Milwaukee ratchets? The larger drive size ones tend to be rated higher within each category and there are several categories including both lower spec brushed models and “high speed” line. I could lend y’all my brushed 3/8 and brushless 1/2 if need be but they’re pretty common so I’m sure someone more local could help with that

I would love to see a video of some of the super cheap Amazon and Ebay cordless ratchets. Like the ones for $40-$70.

I own the husky, bought it for 50$ around November two years ago. It’s not a bolt buster but I bought to tighten 5/16” bolts from 80 to 400 maybe drops to one of 3 light bars. Also those other guys are too long for the limited spaces I get into.

I have a snap on 3/8” cordless and the lower torque (35ftlbs.) 1/4” Milwaukee. On paper the snap on blows my Milwaukee out of the water, obviously. But, the snap on’s only good quality is the RPM, that’s it. Barely any power to break loose a fastener from a dead stop so, you have to fudge it by getting it going them cram the tool on the fastener or break it free manually. It doesn’t have fine tooth gears which sucks when needing to manually break a fastener loose in tight quarters. My 1/4” Milwaukee has impressed me for it being the lower torque model. Finer gears in the ratcheting mechanism make it nice manually breaking free fasteners in tight quarters. Speed is acceptable with the larger M12 battery.

I'm actually very, very impressed with that Hercules tool with it being almost half the price of the competition. For your torque tests I'd make a suggestion, however. You need to brace the tool so it doesn't move at all. You holding it during the torque test makes it so that your hand/arm absorbs a lot of the energy.

@@xvx897 Yes. I understand what you're saying. Real world numbers are important, but seeing as to how the scoring system is based off of manufacturers torque numbers it makes it fair in that department. They most certainly brace the tool when testing them in house.

CTR768 Brute from Snap-On. It's 125 rpm, but 70ft-lbs. It is a brushed motor but it has that gear reduction to increase its torque at the expense of RPM.

I own the husky and I am quite pleased with its performance. Automotive technician.

Ive always wanted to see the husky,i picked one up around xmas 2 years ago for 50 which i dont know how they are making money on that.works great for dirtbikes with tons of m8 m10 and m12 hardware.
