You not only have a beautiful Chateau, but a lovely village as well. I so look forward to continue following you on your Chateau journey.
Beautiful village and not only you learn French but you help by teaching English to the locals! Love it!
What a beautiful little village. The baker seems so very sweet, there really is something so very special living in a small village. I loved the tour of the village, it was great to see. Thank you so much for sharing, take care & have a wonderful rest of the week! Much love Kathy x (Ontario, Canada)

What a beautiful village 💕
I love your little town! I lived in a cute little town in Germany for a few years! I love the community garden! At least you can see what will grow in your area!

Haha true! We love little villages :)
What a lovely little village! I imagine everyone knows everyone...lol. Maybe some of the older residents know the history of the Chateau?! Possible that some of the villagers worked in the Chateau at some point?!

Its a real possibility! Most of the older residents don't speak much English, so communicating sometimes can be a little difficult, but my mum and dad are doing a great job learning French!

@ perhaps you should find a translator and ask around about the chateau !!

How about having an afternoon tea party and house tour for the older residents. You could have someone to translate and to ask questions about the chateau. If you record the comments you may learn a lot about the chateaux. And it will give the residents something to ‘dine out on’ around the village for a month or so! 😊😊
Great idealistic village, agreed that swap shop is cool! I could see myself living there as long as Amazon delivers 😉 cheers Kirk
It’s very beautiful! I don’t think you need to worry about the croissants as long as you walk to and from the bakery. 😆 France was never on my radar of places I want to travel until I started watching chateaux channels. Now I’d love to visit rural France one day.

@ laps perhaps? 😆 My doctor told me the only time I should have sweet things like a pastry was if the total walk to get it was 1 mile. Like that’s gonna happen!
That was lovely 😊 Your Chateau is in a perfect spot near the village. Many others seem to be so isolated. How nice to be making good friends with your neighbours & especially the bakery lady 😁🥐 ❤️

She is such a lovely lady! Always a good idea to make friends with people who bake tasty treats!!!
Love the tour of the village. How lovely it’s so close by😍
🇨🇦❤️What a pleasant village you live in! You seem to have most things that are necessary and what I’d appreciate the most is the peace and quiet. I’m sure you’re going to find out a lot of history about your location and hopefully more about the chateau itself. Bonne chance, as my French Canadian friends would say!
What a pretty village, no need for much more there really it would only spoil it. I love the swap shop 😎

So very nice to see the village where you live. Love trying to figure out the history of the chateau.
I love seeing the work you guys are doing on your chateau. Very interesting and cannot wait to see the finished products of your rooms. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
This was such an enjoyable vlog! Thanks so much, it was lovely of you to give us a tour of the village, Catherine from the bakery was so nice, it’s obvious that you’ve settled in well in the community. I love the little donations hut, what a great idea. The village looks very well maintained too. I thought that the building in the old photograph looked like a sort of arched gateway (?) 🥰🥰

Lovely little village, love the community garden.
Adrian, I'm sure the locals would love to come and help with the garden - a Chateau Garden Club! 😊I would if I lived there! 💜
Great vlog, beautiful village. Thanks for sharing.
Cute village. Love the chateau!!

Lovely little village, thank you for the tour. 💖
Love your village!
Loved the tour of the village. Very nice. Thank you for sharing.😊😊
You almost had a shot of my house at the very start. I´m opposite the church. You could try the Library for some background information on the château. You didn't mention the eight to late shop on the town edge, do you use it? Also I have done à phonetic spelling of the town´s name for you, it may help. Sun denny de gass-teen. À bientôt

Wonderful tour. You seem to have all the essentials needed. I am sure you are very much appreciated in a small Village such as this, with the caretakers you have become of a wonderful Chateau that has be left for 20 years. Love following your journey.

Gorgeous village
So so cute of a little town
Interesting tour
The 《lavoir》was possibly either once associated with a saint's shrine or, more commonly, a place were water was supplied for communal washing, usually near a ru, or small stream (I wonder if the nearby pond was dammed off to formthe fishing area). Some pools tied to shines had legends about young girls floating a straight pin from the front of their aprons (a.k.a. "pin-a-fores") on the saint's feast day, to predict if they'd be married that year. Other times, it was just to do the laundry.
Loved your little town ❤️. I could picture myself living there except for the cold 🥶 I can not tolerate being cold, 😂😂
Happy to discover your Chateau video! It's interesting, hopefully your going to let us continue following your adventures and maybe see the inside. Loved the tour of the village, adorable! Janice from Arkansas USA
Hi there from the USA! I love all the old-world architecture, and your chateau does not disappoint! I did a quick search to try and find out more information for you, and here is what I came up with. Again, it isn't much, but just another bit to add to what you have found. :) Petit Futé's opinion on CHATEAU DE LA FERTE-IMBAULT Vintage flat 2020 This castle was built more than 1,000 years ago by Humbault le Tortu, Lord of Vierzon. Its first work is reinforced during the Middle Ages and will give its name to the village. The Black Prince around the year 1400 destroyed the castle, burned the village and massacred the population. The building was still damaged during the Wars of Religion and the Revolution. The largest brick castle in Sologne retains a great elegance and its double terrace is a reminder of its military power.

Hi Patricia, thank you so much for doing this! Unfortunately this information is about another Chateau, Chateau de la Ferte-Imbault, we are just Chateau de la Ferte! Thank you very much for doing research though we really appreciate it 😊
That small building might’ve been the well.
Trees should not be situated too near a house because of the roots causing damage to the foundations
I'm having a binge watching day today. Lovely vedios ❤

Some of the other chateaux I follow have had local older residents give them vital clues about their properties - you have a nursing home there, maybe a staff person can connect you with some chatty residents! Charming little tour, thanks!
Vous êtes formidables
Nice village. I will be relocating to France next year. I will be looking at real estate in December. I hope to find something equally as nice. Cheers-
wow...great numbers
Great to see your little community there, love the idea of the hut where people can donate or take things that they need. what a great idea. I am guessing that it is pretty rural around there by the looks of it. As you have the space and out buildings maybe you could speak with the mayor and maybe run a farmers market there that could promote the local community and maybe bring some commercial benefits for you in the form of publicity, products or services or financially. Robb Torremolinos Spain 😊
A lovely village. Maybe the maires office would have old plans or information about the chateau. Possibly older people that use the local pub might know something. Sorry to see from more recent vlogs you are going to move on. Great work and dedication so far. Hope all works out in the end 😊

Everything you need and beautiful things to see all on a nice walk from home. 🥰 I think that was the same picture I saw on the internet too, and no information. The only thing it is similar in style to the other Cháteau in the area just smaller though I think yours is more ornate.

Couldn’t agree more. Haha
I wonder if the unknown building was a gate entrance to the chateau.
Looks almost exactly like The Pethericks chateau. Chevk with Billy Probably built by same builder?
so pretty
I would guess the previous building was a remnant of a much older chateau which was reused as gate maybe? Anyway that's my guess!

Yes, or the surround for a more elaborate metal fencing perimeter: any hint of input holes or posts on the sides?
Is the building in front of the Chateau not a gateway?
That is a gorgeous chateau best of luck with all the restorations What is the range prize on something similar?
👍👍❤
That is such a cute place to live in omg. Can you guys adopt me lmao 🤣😍
I wonder if the small building that use to be there was perhaps for a horse to stay on someones visit? If it was more recent I would say a place to keep kids out of weather waiting for school bus.
👍💐
What are the little pools?

That is a lavoir, where they'd have washed clothes years ago,we have a small one just outside the front door, near to the outside toilet
Any research on the 1st family that had it built? Might be some clues
Ask the nearby Mairie for historical information.
Such a pretty little village. We live in the country where we only have one red light right in the center. I wish we had beautiful stone buildings like your village and Chateau. In the US you just don't see that and it kinda makes me sad. Do you have a grocery store in the village? This an old video so not sure if you'll see my comment.

We have a grocery store on the edge of the village with also a car mechanic. Most things are in the town 10 mins away

@ It is an automated translation. It's not that perfect but it works !! To give you an idea, you can activate the subtitles clicking the CC icon. By default, you should get english subtitles. There are clearly a few errors but it makes it more or less understandable :)

I'm intrigued. The road that runs up on the right is called "Rue de la Gare". Now, where is the Gare? It's a bizarre name for a street in a village that is nowhere near a railway. :P
2 жыл бұрын
There was a station at the bottom of that road years ago but now there’s just a track which walkers use
What a lovely village. What is a lavua? That's not the first one I have seen and they are always full of mucky water. What is its purpose. I cannot look the word up since I am not sure of the correct spelling.

They were new to me when I discovered the chateau community on YT. Somebody spelled it out so I learned that the government really pushed villages/towns/property owners to install them in the mid-1800s. Apparently it was a sanitation program, but most of them still required women to kneel on the ground, as formerly on a river bank.
Is Mairie the council?

Hi, I'm new to your channel and am really enjoying looking back at your beginning. In this video you ask if anyone knew what the small stone "building" was in the old photograph of your chateau. Looking at the lawn area currently in the same place as the stone structure would have been, there is a line that runs horizontal to the chateau. I believe the stone structure would have been a gate surrounded by what is termed a "Ha Ha" wall. This would have been a stone wall level with the grass nearest the chateau with a ditch dug on the other side to keep animals from being able to come near the chateau, but wouldn't block the view from inside the chateau looking outward. Here is a link explaining it better. Hope this helps!! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ha-ha
